About Richard & Robin Thompson
Richard was born and raised on this farm. I moved to the farm when we married in 1985. We have raised three children and are now enjoying our first grandchild. This farm has transitioned from raising beef cattle to growing seed corn to becoming a dairy farm. Three generations have been supported by the farm and now it's time to travel a different road in our life journey. We have recently partnered to open a campground on our property and have renovated the original farmhouse for a vacation rental. Our family has enjoyed vacation rentals in the past and have always enjoyed the convenience of "almost like home" vacation stays, so we have decided to open our property to share likewise. We are very blessed to own a sliver of God's Country and hope to have the opportunity to share that blessing with you.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
We have been told that a stay at our farmhouse is like stepping back in time and taking a few conveniences with you. We have tried to maintain the original woodwork whenever possible, including the original doorbell on the front of the house. The flooring in the upstairs bedrooms were stripped of layers of vinyl flooring to leave the original wood, which we have painted. Kitchen appliances have been updated as well as the AC/heat pump. We have added televisions in every bedroom, but please do not let the TVs keep you from enjoying the beautiful outside. Screened porches allow you to enjoy the nighttime sounds and clean air late into the night. Listen for the owls, whip-o-wills, and yes, the occasional coyote. And of course the train, which passes through the farm. You just can't help but relax, sip slowly, and drink in the countryside.

We loved the screened in porch with the swing. House was spacious. Had everything we needed for our trip.
So glad you enjoyed your stay and we hope you visit us again.
Beautiful farm in the mountains. Friendly owners. Easy access to the river. I would highly recommend this place.
Wonderful stay! Beautiful view. House was great! Would recommend. 10 stars!
We had an amazing time
The farmhouse was perfect for our mini vaca. Richard and Robin were so friendly and accommodating. Loved hearing stories about the history of the farmhouse and surrounding land. The river/rock slides and safari were so much fun. Definitely will be back
Our stay for the family was awesome. The farm house is very comfortable and plenty of room for 8 of us. We had 4 grandchildren with us and the whole family enjoyed the scavenger hunt, great idea.
So glad you enjoyed your stay. We enjoyed hosting your family. Hope you visit again soon.
Cute farmhouse getaway
Our family enjoyed a short two night stay in this farm house. We spent time hiking local trails and enjoyed the historic downtown of Fincastle. The house felt special because of its family history. The house was also very clean and suited our family get away. Definitely has a nice, old fashioned feel about it.
Glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you can come back again. We enjoy sharing our place with folks who take such great care.
