Kim and Ken were so sweet. Enjoyed our view and stay. Enjoyed our walk back to the river and to see the farm animals from our windows. Kim was great at communicating and getting anything we needed. Very comfortable bed, we slept well.

We would definitely go back to this perfect guest apartment. Comfortable clean and well equipped. The location couldn't have been closer and more convenient to anything and everything around the Brevard Area and beyond. Excellent value and super host experience. Enjoy the homestead atmosphere. Had the pleasure of seeing a bald eagle sore over the French Broad River at the rear of the property.

Wonderfully cozy comfortable apt. So clean and hosts are on site and are amazing! I love the farm setting yet so close to restaurants and activities in Brevard or Hendersonville. We have stayed here before and certainly will return.

Quaint Little Oasis

Kim and Ken were such wonderful hosts. The apartment is just over their garage. It was clean, spacious, and comfy. We were met with such hospitality. Homestead Farm South is named after Ken's ancestral home in Connecticut, Homestead Farm Dairy. When Ken and Kim moved to the mountains of North Carolina, they decided they would do something unconventional for a couple that had lived in the suburbs; they bought farm land and built Homestead Farm South. Ken wanted bison, Kim wanted a horse, chickens, turkeys, and a donkey.

Why they chose this property

Ken and Kim spent many months looking at properties, and they fell in love with the Little River valley area. Ken found this property when a colleague at work told him friends of his had property for sale, and when his coworker took him to show him the property, it was exactly where he and Kim had said they wanted to live.

What makes this property unique

Kim found the house plan and they made some changes to make it, including adding the apartment over the garage. Originally intended for visiting family and friends, or for a future Brevard College student willing to live there in exchange for helping out, they decided to try using it as a vacation rental at the encouragement of their contractor and with the assistance of a nearby B&B. It was a decision they have not regretted because they have had many wonderful people stay there through the years
