Large Beautiful Log Home in East Glacier Park

If you want to be in trees and at the northern edge of the village of East Glacier Park, but if you also want to be walking distance from the restaurants, the shops, the Glacier Park Lodge, and the golf course, then this is the home for you.

Located adjacent to the ninth green of the Glacier Park Lodge Golf Course, in the village of East Glacier, this 2300 square foot log home is the perfect retreat for small or large families and groups.

This new log home faces the Rocky Mountains and features 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and a large great room/living room with a fireplace, 27-foot ceilings, and grand picture windows, allowing guests to enjoy the incredible views. There is also a large loft, an open, fully equipped kitchen with bar seating and a dining area, and a laundry room with a washer and dryer.

Outside there is a large yard, and a deck encircles the front of the house. The deck, with the gas grill and a large picnic table, is perfect for entertaining or simply relaxing and taking in the panoramic views. The large grass front lawn is perfect for volleyball and wiffle ball, croquet, horse shoes, and other summer activities.

The master bedroom has a queen bed. One upstairs bedroom has two double beds. The second upstairs bedroom has one double bed. There are two single beds in the loft. The house comfortably sleeps 10 in beds; however there is plenty of floor space in the loft for sleeping bags.

Located in the town of East Glacier, many restaurants, shops, and the historic Glacier Park Lodge are within walking distance. All of the activities of Glacier National Park are right at your doorstep, including hiking on Glacier’s 1000 miles of trails, sightseeing, fishing, rafting, kayaking, and horseback riding. The entrance to Glacier National Park is only 6 miles away and the famous Going-to-the-Sun Road is only 32 miles away. In the winter, guests can enjoy cross-country skiing, sledding, and ice fishing. Also for those nights indoors by the fireplace, take advantage of the book and video library or the collection of board games. There are two TVs and a DVD player.

And don’t forget the golf. The Glacier Park Lodge Golf Course, the oldest in Montana, is a nine hole gem. As it winds through the aspen and tall fescue, it features magnificent views of Glacier Park to the West, and the Montana grasslands to the East. And the ninth green ends at your front yard, inviting you to come and relax on the deck with a cool beverage, after a great round of golf.

Exactly as portrayed!

Lovely, perfect for 3 couples traveling together...house was full of everything and anything we needed! Owner was very responsive. Enjoyed the horses running by every morning, and the golfers in their carts leaving the last hole. Cows wandered around were entertaining as well. We couldn't have fires outside due to the restriction. The weather was warm while we were there so we really enjoyed the deck.

Since our family has stayed here a few times, we had a good expectation of what we would find and were not disappointed! Since the main reason for our visit was the loss of our spiritual leader and family anchor, it was an initially difficult proposition. Since Glacier Park and East Glacier were pivotal places for her, it also was the perfect place to celebrate her life, together. John and family presented the best place for that reunion. For that we will always be grateful!

The Glacier 7

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay! The location is great -- the perfect place from which to launch a multitude of Glacier hikes. The seven of us found the house spacious, comfortable and clean and everyone associated with the rental process friendly, warm and helpful. Really, it was all great but perhaps our favorite spot was the wrap-around porch where we relaxed and recovered in the warm sun after being lashed by wind and rain during a 19-mile hike to Dawson & Pitamakin Passes.

The Best Place to Stay in East Glacier

  • 5 of 5

This is where you want to stay when you go to East Glacier. The home is spacious and comfortably equipped with more than what you see in the preview pictures.

I can get a bed in one of the iconic Park Lodges, but I find that experience antiquated. The real way to experience Glacier is slowly. It makes it easier to leave the rush of the world behind when you have privacy and room to spread out. There is nothing better than hiking all day, taking in waterfalls and zillions of digital photo, then coming home. "Jon's House" is a home away from home. Flip on the BBQ and grab a drink from the fridge. Take a cat nap or play a game from the cupboard. Situated on a dead-end road facing west, we had front row Adirondack seats to the most spectacular sunset. We got lucky with the cloud formations and the wind. It was easily the best sunset I have ever seen.

It will be impossible to come back to East Glacier and stay somewhere else. We found the best spot, and we will be back.

Perfect for a big family.

  • 5 of 5

We loved this place. It's very large and spacious. We have a lot of people and had plenty of space. The kitchen was equipped and lovely. We want to come back. The only problem we had was there was not enough hot water for 3 or 4 people to take a shower in the same evening. It was and hour to Glacier National Park .

Perfect home base

  • 5 of 5

We loved the log cabin, East Glacier is so much more relaxed than West Glacier. While we drive a lot to get places, it never seemed to much. There is so much to see in the park, I don't think you can spend enough time. The house was perfect, plenty of sleeping room and bathrooms. Having a laundry is always a plus. The view of the mountains was awesome. Overall it is a great place to stay!
