About Bruce and La Rhea Villinger

We are die-hard travelers and enjoy seeing the world. But we always marvel at the beauty of Kauai and the Aloha spirit of it's people. We are so fortunate to be able to return each time.

Bruce and La Rhea Villinger purchased this condo in 2000

Why Bruce and La Rhea Villinger chose Poipu

We stayed at the Prince Kuhio resort a few times before purchasing our condos. We loved the feel of 'real Hawaii' and met the friendliest people there, both the guests and the owners.

It's the best investment we've made.

What makes this condo unique

Waking up to the sunrise over the park is awesome. The sound of the surf is beckoning. We enjoy scuba diving and kayaking, the south shore is all about the ocean.

Perfect Hawaii Paradise

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful place to stay and enjoy Kaui'i! The location was excellent with across the street easy access to the closest beach. We found the best and most varied dining to be just around the corner as well as excellent shopping. All within walking distance. We were so glad to be on the quiet end of Poipu. The interior is well appointed with modern appliances and conveniences, decorated in a fresh but vintage Hawaiian style that we loved. There's no air conditioning, but it wasn't needed because the ocean breezes (and sounds!) were so amazing from the bedroom. Bruce and La Rhea were wonderful to work with- replying quickly to every email, and our security deposit was returned immediately and without problem. We would return here on our next visit to Kaui'i without any hesitation. If you are looking for paradise in Poipu, this is the place to go!

All the comforts of home

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Kauai and were very impressed with this condo. The pictures and description's of the unit were very accurate and actually don't show how spacious and nice the unit is in person. Additionally, we found the condo to be well equipped with everything that we needed-and then some- to have a great vacation. The property and grounds are well maintained and everyone from the staff working the grounds to the folks that are lucky enough to live there full time, were welcoming and helpful. This condo is in a great location that allows for easy access to all sides of the island all while being able to walk to the beach, restaurants and shops. We spent our mornings snorkeling at the beach across the street, explored the island during the day and circled back to cook dinner at the condo, finishing out the night watching the sunset at the beach across the street. The owner was very easy to work with, provided detailed instructions and returned our deposit shortly after we returned home. I would recommend this condo/owner to anyone that is going to Kauai and looking for reasonably priced accommodations that offer all of the comforts of home. We had such a great time that we are already planning our trip for next year and will definitely be scheduling it around the availability of this condo.

Great condo in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We really loved this condo. It was our first trip to Kauai and found the location to be great for travelling the whole island. Two beaches across the street for swimming/snorkeling. We watched the sun rise every morning over the park/ocean from our deck and then the sunset every night from the lawn at the Beach House Restaurant. The pool is really nice too and was not used much while we were there (even over American Thanksgiving) The condo has everything you would need for your stay...just like home. It is very clean, roomy and just plain nice to come home to each evening or hang out in when getting a later start on your day. The little extras were great....beach chairs, laundry basket, small cooler and ice pack for lunches to name a few. It is on the third floor of a no elevator building so for some that would not be appropriate but the stairs were not problem at all for us. We are already planning on returning to Kauai and hopefully to this condo. I would recommend it to anyone.

Beyond expectations

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have stayed in the Poipu area 6 times over the last 8 years and this is by far the best vacation rental we have had. The condo is just like the pictures, however they don't show how roomy it really is. The kitchen was incredibly well stocked with nice quality dishes, glasses, utensils, pans, etc. The condo is in a fantastic location and I was able to merely walk across the street to snorkel everyday at Beachhouse beach. The view from the balcony was great, and we would sit out to enjoy our breakfast, or have cocktails, or look at the stars at night. Because of the location it is possible to walk to stores and restaurants, though having a car helps to enjoy all that Kauai has to offer. We loved being there and hope that when we return to Kauai we will be able to stay at 316 again. Thank you for providing such a lovely place.

Fantastic condo and location!

  • 5 of 5

I highly recommend this condo. It is in a great location in Poipu, literally a block away from the best sunsets and snorkeling in Kauai. The condo looked exactly like the pictures and provided extra amenities, such as snorkeling equipment and coolers. It is spacious, clean and comfortable. The best part is waking up to the ocean and sunset from bed! I would definitely recommend this condo and hope to return to it again soon!

We miss our nightly sunsets!

  • 5 of 5

This place was great and totally met our expectations and then some.

We were celebrating our honeymoon and wanted something nice and affordable right near the beach. This place looked just like the photos and was very clean and comfortable. They provide all kind of kitchen things you could possibly need which is great because we did a lot of cooking on our own. We enjoyed sitting out on our lanai in the morning for breakfast. It overlooks a park and the ocean and we had the most lovely tradewinds and sound of the ocean at night. The living room and bedroom were nice size and the bed was super comfy which is important to me as my back is always bothersome. The bathroom is a bit on the small side, with a shower and toilet in one room, sink in and dressing table in the other. It wasn't a big deal to us. It stayed nice and cool during the day.

We rented snorkel equipment right across the street and saw some of the best tropical fish that we saw on our visit. And every night everyone sits on the grass or the beach and watches sunset as a nightly event, so we'd blend up some homemade pina coladas and head down there with the chairs that were provided. The only thing that might have been a helpful beach item would be an umbrella for us pale folks. We ended up purchasing one and leaving it behind at our second destination, for some reason nobody rents this item.

The grounds are well kept and all the rooms overlook the pool and the koi pond. The neighbors were all quiet and friendly. In terms of food, there's a shopping center with several options nearby but you have to look for it, Kukui`ula Village, I think it's called. It's in walking distance with high end and casual restaurants, galleries, gifts, a specialty market, and even a farmer's market on certain days. Poipu beach and Koloa are nearby, too.

Overall, I would definitely return. And the owners were a joy to work with, very responsive, helpful, and professional.
