Perfect spot on Mission Bay

Nice little beach pad that truly is right off the sand. We are a family of 5 and enjoyed the living area and kitchen right off the patio, and the patio which is right off the beach. Our kids were able to play in the sand and water right out front of the home while we were cooking, watching TV, or sitting out on the patio. You can hear and see them from nearly anywhere you are on this property which is a HUGE bonus (our kids are ages 4 to 9). The actual property is cozy, one bathroom with a large tub, the two bedrooms are in the back of the property which is nice and far enough from the boardwalk. Kitchen was all we needed. We cooked in one of the 3 nights we stayed and that worked out well. I would just make sure to bring any condiments, etc. Aside from the actual home, the area is GREAT. It is a lot more quiet and family friendly than the beach side, and we were able to go over to that side whenever we wanted (which turned out to be only once, because we loved our spot on the Bay). It's a <5 minute walk to the ocean, <5 minute walk to Starbucks, <5 minute walk to the market, <5 minute walk to restaurants, Subway, pizza, just about anything you need. We will be back for the location alone. Very fun vacation.

Property beautiful, not clean and managers awful

This house is amazing! The kids had an absolute blast being able to walk out on the sand and play for hours. We enjoyed it as well because we could see them from the house and the patio. It's not as clean as it could be. The fixtures are older but they don't need to be dirty. The master bedroom sheets had a stain on them and whoever is cleaning also doesn't look up. Laying in bed with layers of dust and dirt on the light fixtures and fans leaving you with a slight fear of waking up to it on top of you.

No extra supplies of any kind. No beach supplies. Towels. Extra toys. Nothing. Bring everything even your salt and pepper. Kitchen is bare.

Sleeping in the master bedroom is difficult! No curtains! Enough said? Nope. The neighbor has an outside light on a timer that shuts off at 11:30pm good luck if your trying to go to sleep before then. It shines right in the room.

Lastly, back to the old appliances. There is a door between the bedroom and and the from room/kitchen. If you close it and the windows you will wake up to a front room filled with gas. When I called the owner. Terrified that my two kids, my husband and I just slept in a house that fills with gas, Diane blew me off assuring me there was no leak. Immediately made me believe she was aware of a problem. She told me to go check the wall heater. Which was turned off. So she said there's no problem! What about the smell? I guess my husband and I imagined it? I said what about the stove. She said is it hot. She said light it. I refused. So she said she'll send her cleaning lady to do it. Anyway to make a long story short. To have someone come out and look at the problem cost us $240.00. to have peace of mind after driving 5 hours to get to this place. Which I never really got. The plumber couldn't tell me if it was the stove or not because in his words: he doesn't fix appliances, he didn't know if it was leaking. He showed my husband how to turn the gas off so we could sleep at night. Oh and the plumber said it could be sewer smell I'm confusing with gas smell. The stack is in the wall in the front room. Either way. There is an issue which we could repeat by closing it up again and leaving.

It's true. They tried to save us money insisting there's nothing wrong. They kept all but $10 of our security and didn't provide us with a receipt for this very expensive service call. Whatever is wrong is still an issue because the owners from wherever they are know there is nothing wrong.

Owner's Response: Please take this review for what it's worth. Biased and untrue. We attempted to accommodate this woman at every opportunity without resolve. The real story is that she told us that she thought there was a gas leak. The appliances in the unit are gas, and we mentioned that the stove may emit some gas as the pilot light is constantly lit. By no means does that mean there is a gas leak (in fact, we asked her if the pilot was lit and she said yes -- if there were a leak, that pilot light would spark a fire). After our attempts at assuring her there was no gas leak, she demanded that an emergency plumber come out immediately or she would call 911. We told her that if we called a plumber out and there were no problems, she would be responsible for the cost. If there was an issue, we would of course take care of it (this is very standard on any property you stay at). The plumber came out and checked each gas line on the property. He pulled out all appliances and carefully inspected. He told both her and us that he did not see any problems or issues and there certainly were no leaks. He didn't "fix appliances" because there were no appliances to fix. The inspection came with a 30 day guarantee that there are no gas leaks, and the plumber verified that there were no problems whatsoever with the plumbing, gas lines, or anything of the sort. Effectively, the statement in her review is completely false. The charge for the plumber was $240.00 which was passed on to the tenant, and taken from her security deposit (again, this warning was conveyed prior to having the plumber come out). The receipt was sent to Homeaway, which is the only way we are able to keep deposits. When we notified her that there were no issues and she would be responsible for that charge is when the negative review and "story" came forth that you are reading above. In fact, she told us just a day earlier via text message that they were all checked in and that the place was "fabulous". It's a bummer that things like this happen, but we have had HUNDREDS of renters in this property since we have owned it and 99% have been satisfied. You can't always please everyone, but we do try our best! We know that YOU will love our home and have a wonderful vacation!

Great Location.

We had a wonderful time with our family of 5 at this beach rental. The home is directly off the beach just as described, in one of the more walkable parts of Mission Beach/Mission Bay area. There is a Starbucks about a block away and a few restaurants and food options nearby. The best part is by far the private patio where we could sit out and enjoy the beach with the kids without leaving home base.

Owner's Response: This review is a little misleading, and honestly a little questionable. Renter attempted to stay for a year and when I told her it was not available, she was upset. Email from this renter during their stay: We have very much enjoyed staying in your condo on the Bay Walk, (the downstairs unit with the patio). I mentioned to you in a previous email that we are looking for at least a 1 year lease long term rental because we are relocating from our N. CA home that we just listed for sale. We are wondering if you are agreeable to rent this unit that we are in for long term rental as we absolutely love it here!
