Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)
About John Thomas
For Stacy and I building this cabin was an effort to create a very unique retreat. We found the perfect setting; a five acre estate lot within a gated 200 acre nature Preserve, that boasted a view which even the locals described as the best they had ever seen. We then hired a team to travel to Pennsylvania to dismantle and retrieve the materials from two 150+ year old barns. One actually stood on the battlefield at Gettysburg, but had to be removed to make way for the new visitor's center. The other had been built by Amish pioneers. All of the timbers had been laboriously hand hewed with broad axes. We carefully planned each detail to create the feeling of an old 1800s cabin, while incorporating modern conveniences. Upon his first visit, a technician who came to install the satellite dish and receiver commented 'I'll bet you had a challenge getting this old place up to code'. I replied that it was a new cabin, to which he responded with dismay, 'you built it like this?'. Mission accomplished.

Why John Thomas chose Sapphire
Around the chic mountain village of Cashiers, North Carolina, (10 minutes from the cabin) fashionable development keeps pace with the growing demand for vacation and retirement homes. Easily understandable considering Cashiers is located in the waterfall area of the Blue Ridge Mountains, where high elevation lakes, streams, and rivers abound. Adding to the natural attractions that beckon the thousands of affluent, seasonal residents (plus a multitude of visitors) are notable golf courses, trendy shops, fine dining establishments, and tennis resorts. Asheville, home of the Biltmore Estate, is a cultural hub not to be missed, less than an hour drive away.
What makes this Cabin unique
Do you desire the peace, quite, and solitude of being by yourself, with only the splendor of nature and your loved one(s) in the mountains, but still very close to fine dining, upscale shopping, outdoor activities, and resort amenities? We did, and it was a most difficult combination to find. Sapphire Heaven is the result of our quest to create that rare combination. As a bonus we even have a private waterfall within a short hike.

Follow your instinct and rent this cabin! Heaven in Sapphire! The reviews are very accurate.
My boyfriend and I drove up from Florida, to get out of the summer heat (for his birthday). Went back and forth on whether to reserve this, cabin due to the price. Even though I had seen the pictures online, I was still amazed when I walked through the front door. I am a bit embarrassed to admit this, but the view nearly brought tears to my eyes. Such serenity. What a view looking over the balcony. I am so grateful that I got to experience, “Sapphire Heaven”. Will never forget this vacation. The bed , the pillows, the towels were all luxurious! I had to pinch myself as I was looking over balcony, sitting in the hot tub (I kept thinking is this really happening!) In the morning, the only thing I heard was a woodpecker! If you listen closely you can hear the waterfall below cabin. The hike down to the waterfall below the cabin, was one of the coolest things I ever done. It felt a bit more like mountain climbing though lol versus hiking. Happy I chose not to bring my dog on that trail. We also went to gorges state park and hiked the rainbow falls trail. Def worth the hike. A local resident had suggested “secret falls”. I think this was my favorite hike. Very remote and not a lot of people. We got to swim at the waterfall, by ourself for almost an hour or more. You can easily pass up the dirt road to take. So be sure to map it out before you leave. The cabin had everything you could ever possibly need and then some. Thanks so much for opening up your hone. I sure do hope that we can rent it again next year. Thanks!
Absolutely beautiful piece of paradise
There truly aren’t enough words to describe how amazing this place is. The beautiful cabin and it’s private gorgeous setting is breathtaking. The craftsmanship in each detail and the thoughtfulness displayed throughout the cabin inside and out are truly a work of art. The rustic atmosphere was so peaceful. The owners were very kind and easy to communicate with. All instructions for accessing the cabin, property and various (countless) features were thoroughly explained and easy to follow. The property was so private and secluded it was very easy to get swept up in relaxing and escaping. The private waterfall below the cabin is fun to get to and so peaceful. The views from the outside tub/shower, back and side porch, master bedroom, living room, overlook and fire pit are beautiful and we couldn’t get enough. The metal roof during the rain storms sounded like relaxation music. There was so much to experience at just the cabin you never have to leave, but there are some great things to see and do close by also (several waterfall hikes, restaurants, stores, etc). Everything was honestly more than we could have dreamed and we loved every second. Thank you so much for sharing this incredible place and we look forward to future visits!
Great! When our guests are reenergized from their stay we know we accomplished what we set out to create with the cabin. Please return when you can.
I Love this place!
Sapphire Heaven really is exceptional. Its features — the craftsmanship of the cabin and its old materials, the view, the outside shower and bath, the fire pit, the location, the porch, the comfortable rooms and perfect kitchen — all meld together for a truly wonderful one-of-a-kind experience. I could live there!
We're so glad your stay met or exceeded your expectations. Please return when you can.

Absolutely Rustic Paradise
Very responsive and welcoming owners of this adorable secluded cabin. Always have waterfall sounds along with nature throughout your entire stay. Very nice kitchen appliances and plenty of kitchen wares to make your own meals and store leftovers. Super thick nice towels. Fantastic location to get groceries and enjoy the nature sites around this lovely area.
We're so happy you enjoyed your stay. Please return when you can.
This is our third time visiting Sapphire Heaven. Every visit we are blown away with how serene the cabin and its surroundings are. We've grilled out, cooked inside and visited local restaurants during our visits. We have never needed something while staying at this cabin. The outdoor shower and tub are perfect accessories to the wonderful landscape and a great way to unwind. Since our last visit the owner added a fire pit area but unfortunately it was too windy for us to use. This property is truly a treasure and a bargain for the experience you'll receive! Thank you John for sharing it with us, we always look forward to returning.
Stacy and I are so happy you had an enjoyable stay. Please return when you can. Thanks for the kind review.
Private Waterfall!: There is a spectacular waterfall that is about 150 yards from the cabin. The trail to it is steep in places, which makes it a difficult hike, but well worth the effort. The waterfall area is totally private and exclusively accessible from our cabin property. What is even more amazing is the fact that you can easily walk behind the falling water and stay totally dry. Naturally, I've named it Sapphire Heaven Falls. As you stand behind it, the top of the fall starts about 40 feet above your head from a bowl shaped rock outcropping, then falls twenty feet out from you, and ten feet below you to cascade steeply down the mountain. There is so much room under/behind the falls that you can have a picnic for the whole family. The falls are made private by the sheer walls above and below this plateau shelf. Amazing!
