Sam and I both love meeting and socializing with our guest.

We back up to the National Forest and enjoy hiking down the trail which connects to the Bartram trail at the base of Scaly Mountain. It is a wonderful place to sit back and relax.
What makes this House unique
We are at the end of the road, it is quiet. It has a camping area for children. It has an outdoor fire-pit. Swing set for Children. The cabin is totally supplied and we are centrally located to Clayton, Ga. and Franklin N.C. and Highlands is just 9 miles away. We DO NOT ACCEPT PETS! We will take infants but prefer children over four years of age. The spring brings the flowering shrubs and plants. The fall bring the beautiful foliage change and the mountains are painted in breathtaking aray of colors. The winters open the canopy for wonderful distant views.

Everything was perfect. Anything you could possibly need, was there. The property was beautiful.
We enjoyed our stay very much.
My partner and I enjoyed our stay at this comfortable and quiet cabin in the forest.
The cabin was well appointed, quite comfortable, and was close to many good hikes in the Nantahala Nat'l Forest. We highly recommend staying here!
best rental we've ever stayed at! we will be back!
oh my goodness. what a great rental! we've rented a lot thru vrbo and this one far surpasses any we've ever stayed at. the owner met us at the door (even though we arrived super late) and welcomed us with a warm smile and handshake. he generously offered us Friday night free since no one was renting (we weren't planning to come until Saturday). he was a wealth of knowledge about the area and made sure we knew where everything was in the cabin. the decor was adorable - lots of really neat antiques. everything was so clean and fresh. the fireplace was just what we needed for the colder weather and the wood was provided by the owner! the kitchen was more stocked than my kitchen at home. coffee was included and even a bottle of red and white wine. the area was beautiful and we really enjoyed highlands a lot. because it was in the 20s most of our stay, we did not hike. but had the weather been warmer, we totally would've. we have already passed on the info for this cabin to several of our highlands-loving friends. and we plan to be back. soon.
You are way to kind in your assessment. Thanks for renting from us and we look forward to your return.
This was our second time to stay at this home in Scaly. Was just as outstanding as our first. The owner accommodated all of our needs. We had an issue with the water that he quickly fixed.
We have been coming to the Highlands/Scaly Mountain area for years, and I can’t' think of a better home to rent.
Great family getaway!
We spent a week at this delightful cabin between Christmas and New Years. It had everything we needed. Clean and comfortable; the beds were great. There was plenty of firewood for us so we could sit by the fire and read as well as many great local hikes. Couldn’t have been better!
As good as it gets
Owners were so welcoming and got us ensconced with a minimum of fuss. They had everything we could possibly need from kitchen to bathroom to laundry. The cottage was comfortable, too. I really felt like I was maybe at the Biltmore estate in a deluxe cottage there. It is decorated with lots of antique tables and stuffed armchairs, all kinds of lamps and pretty pictures, a wonderful eclectic mix plus some great cabbage rose type curtains and wooden blinds. But we didn’t feel like we might break something. Relaxing and fun. The kitchen window looks out over the mountains and the cottage is surrounded by rhododendrons and their land adjoins national forest. It was COLD so we built a good fire the first night. Again, all was ready, the wood was already laid in the fireplace. We walked around in the snow and enjoyed being pretty private on that mountaintop. It was nice to know ,though, that the owners were close by in case we needed something. (We didn’t).
Checking out was as easy and simple as checking in. The only hard part was leaving.
Our experience was as close to coming up to a friend’s or sister’s cabin as you can get. Thank you Joe and Sam for your warm hospitality!
We are centrally located between Dillard, Ga and Highlands, NC. In the winter there is a tubing slope and ice skating nearby. National forest is behind the house. Lots of hiking trails in the area. Great Resturants at Highlands, Franklin, Dillard and Clayton.
