Larry & Gay Glenn (my wonderful In laws) had always wanted a little place by a mountain stream. They just happen to come across 13 acres on the mountain just at the base of Mount Pisgah with two small cottages. They had to get it! This was in 2000. They enjoyed the sounds of the stream, the birds, and just the beauty all around Them. That is when they decided to build a Log Cabin on above their cottage for others to enjoy as well. So, contact Me, Denise Glenn and I hope you'll come stay and see for yourself what Dad & Mother love so much about this place!!
Quiet, Secluded, beautiful!
Listening to the mountain stream, seeing the mountain laurel in full bloom as well as other wildflowers, hearing the woodpeckers and other birds that fill the trees surrounding us. Walking around the property..... visiting Larry's small trout pond (sorry not for fishing). Just relaxing in the rocking chair on the front porch and mostly enjoy family and friendship!
What a great cabin for girls weekend. They were 7 of us. The cabin was secluded and we loved that. It was very clean, furnishings was great very rustic, beds were super comfy , kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed. We are Definitely going to stay here again! You will need a truck or suv to get up to the cabin which is a beautiful ride in! This is a cabin you want be disappointed in for sure!
I came up with 5 friends for a weekend and our stay in the Pine Ridge Chalet was perfect for us! It slept the 6 of us very comfortably with three big bedrooms and two bathrooms. The wifi works well and the TV has been updated since the pictures and is a flatscreen with cable! We were also only a 20 minute drive from downtown Asheville which was really convenient. We had a little trouble finding the entrance to the Glen Acres Property in the dark but we were able to drive to the cabin with no problem (we had a midsize SUV). I would highly recommend this property and stay here again if I come back to the area!
I, my husband, and two friends rented the Pine Ridge Chalet from April 1 to the 4th. We had an amazing stay. The cabin was clean and very cozy. Two of the rooms were huge and could possibly hold more people if needed. The upstairs had a loft area with a futon, a closed room with a king size bed and ample room, and a small bathroom with a toilet and tub and sink. One of the downstairs room had a door leading out to the porch where you can sit on a swing and listen to the creek. The kitchen was small but we only used it for breakfast and managed nicely.
Most of our time was spent outside. We were able to build a nice fire and roast some hotdogs and marshmallows. You are able to see the Hilltop Cabin, but it didn't bother us at all. It was extremely quiet and felt like we were the only ones on the mountain. The area was extremely peaceful and none of us wanted to leave. We felt like three nights was just enough time to get into the groove of things and wished we stayed for a week. If you are looking for a getaway, this is definitely the place to be.
A couple of things I do want to mention. When we were looking at the reviews, all we saw were people worried about driving over the creek. We brought up my small car to save on gas. It's a Sonic Turbo LTZ. The creek was not the problem at all. When you hit the fork between Pine Ridge and Hilltop, things get a little bumpy and steep. There's a sign that says to maintain 12mph till the top. If you maintain that, you shouldn't have a problem but I would definitely recommend taking a V6 or 4WD. We plan on bringing my husband's jeep or our friend's truck the next time we come.
Overall, I highly recommend this cabin. It's in the perfect location as it's very close to different sights and the town. The feel of the cabin location is priceless. You instantly become peaceful and forget your busy life. We all want to come back and stay longer.
Was there last summer with a couple friends. The place is at the very top of a gorgeous mountain. The drive at night can be a little disheartening but there's lots of tells where to go. Bring a paper map if you're not good with directions because you'll have no service half way up.
The cabin itself is great, everything works, has a phone and wifi and tv. The mattresses and couch are comfy. All the kitchen utensils you'll need and pretty safe as far as I could tell in my three days there! There's a good driveway up to there (be wary low cars should not be taken but something like your average family sedan would be fine). The cabin is well decorated and the bath water gets hot quickly. I will always highly recommend the lovely place and folk!
The transformation begins the last 6 miles before you get to the cabin. As you leave highway 23 west and get on to highway 151 the world around you drastically changes. It’s like driving back to a place that you’ve tucked away somewhere in your minds past. The environment changes from suburban sprawl to rural farming community to mountain solitude, before your eyes, every mile that you get closer to Glenn Acres. Once you turn onto Ben’s Cove Road and the payment ends it only gets better. The trees are so tall they reach the sky. The sound of water from streams on both sides of the gravel road up to the cabin is like music and one of the few but best sounds you will hear. Little of what you remember as part of the world you left will disturb your stay at Glenn Acres. Peace and quiet will recharge your soul. You will carry this feeling with you long after you leave because you know you’ll be coming back again one day real soon. Oh and if you are a dog this is dog heaven.
Thank you to the Glenn's for providing such a warm, tranquil and absolutely relaxing get away. Your hospitality was warm, friendly and we felt like family. The Pine Ridge Chalet was perfect for our family. It truly felt like a home away from home. We spend the days exploring the area, hiking in Pisgah forest or simply reading a book on the portch. At night we grilled out and then roasted s'mores on the campfire. Glenn Acres is perfect for families and couples. Thanks again for such a wonderful experience!
