(Secure online credit card payment available via PPI/PayPros through us directly. The same folks VRBO/HomeAway once recommended. No sign-up, membership, or additional fees required. Note that the additional fees offer no more additional protection than a credit card does, so avoid extra fees. If you'd like to contact us directly, just Google "Kuhio Shores".)

Spectacular ocean views, warm hawaiian decor with Koa wood and etched glass and Hawaiian art, and walking directly out to the ocean from the lanai make 106 is the "best of the best" Kuhio Shores offers.

Why settle for less direct access to the beach? From the upper floors, beach access is through the elevators and parking lot. Where else are you going to find the ocean at such a great price with all the comforts of home?

Located steps from the beach, Kuhio Shores provides snorkeling, scuba, surfing, swimming, sunning, and beachcombing without having to get in your car or even cross the street. You are five minutes away from famous Po'ipu Beach and old Koloa town; with excellent shopping and restaurants in walking distance.

Kuhio Shores 106 is a great location! This one bedroom, one bath, unit will be your home away from home.

Our condo is distinctive with its beautiful native artwork, shell collections, hand-crafted woodwork, etched glass and mirrors, Hawaiian style decor with a Hawaiian CD mix that provides you with a relaxing environment inducing the aloha spirit. Our condo takes you back to the time when the tropics were truly a remote adventure.

Open the windows and listen to the ocean waves lull you to sleep.

Ho'ai bay, right off the lanai, is known as some of the best snorkeling on Kauai. Snorkel with the turtles and the colorful tropical fish, just steps away from the lanai (watch the video above, snorkeling with the turtles off the condo).

From the lanai you can enjoy the view across to the Ha'upu mountain range, or the sunrise on the bay, or looking out onto the ocean, watching the waves, sailing ships, dolphins jumping, or whales breaching in the distance, and the near constant stream of turtles that come within 20' of your feet to the edge of the bay to feed... all relaxing from your lounge on the lanai, sipping your morning coffee.

The lanai faces East, so the lanai is shaded from the afternoon sun, and the ocean trade winds from the East keep the condo nice and cool year round.

We're on the first floor, so you're not confined to an upper floor where the elevator or stairs (and a walk through the parking lot) are necessary to get to the beach. From our lanai, you can spread-out onto the immaculately kept lawn and enjoy unconfined beach access.

Kuhio Shores 106 provides the following amenities:

o Ground floor for easy beach access

o Netflix on-demand streaming video

o King bed in the bedroom

o Queen hide-a-bed in the living room

o Fully Equipped kitchen with Kashmir granite counter tops

If more than 2 guests, please contact us via email to be sure you can fit your group comfortably (use the "send mail" option below the "request to book" option in the upper right-hand corner, and realize you'll immediately receive an auto-reply from HomeAway, seemingly from us, with a "book it now" request, before we'll be able to reply).

About Chris and Becky

Chris & Becky Worley enjoy relaxing on the lanai and snorkeling in the bay.

Chris and Becky purchased this condo in 2010

Why Chris and Becky chose South Shore

We Love Kauai. Kauai offers all the benefits of a Hawaii without feeling overwhelmed by tourists. I spent a few years living in a rural area in the tropics in the 60's... and Kauai reminds me so much of the way things were back then (of course, with WiFi).

The island has many micro-climates, from jungle to desert; this is the dry side. It is common for the entire island to be engulfed in rain, and just as you reach Koloa, the rain subsides.

Kuhio Shores is right on the beach; you can't build this close anymore. There's a reef ~200yds. out where the waves break, so the water is normally tranquil by the condo.

We've never looked at renting the condo strictly as a business; it's for our fun and our guests fun. The greatest reward we get is in helping our guests have the best possible vacation. It sounds 'sappy' but it's true: it's been our most intangibly rewarding venture, and we love doing it.

One additional benefit has been the best, most diligent and hard-working housekeeper imaginable!

What makes this condo unique

Beach House beach is most popular on the West side of the building, in front of the Beach House restaurant (where the best surfing is). Our East side of the building faces Ho'ai bay with privacy and a small patch of beach that attracts the turtles and not the tourists. There are only 8 ground-level units on this side of the building which provides privacy. If you want to see and be seen, then the beach on the West side of the building is only a short walk.

The condo faces east for the sunrise. There is a year-round ocean breeze coming from the east, providing nearly constant flow-through ventilation.

Inside the unit, the wood and art remind me of the tropics back in the 60's... so I'm a throw-back for nostalgia in this respect. It adds to the sense that you're on a remote rural island.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Chris and Becky's condo is comfortable: the decorations, kitchen supplies, beach gear, movies, and book shelf makes it feel like you're in a real home. You can hear the ocean waves crashing on the rocks in the bay from the main room, and just barely from the bedroom at night. The hosts were especially helpful, providing a booklet of everything you'd need to know about the condo and suggestions for the area via e-mail ahead of time, and a copy in the condo -- directions, restaurants, running routes, instructions for the TVs -- it's all in the booklet. They were also available over e-mail and phone, and attentive to making sure we had what we needed.

"The condo is just around the corner from PK beach, which has surfers, sunsets, and snorkeling, along with The Beach House (a great restaurant for sunset dining, seafood, and cocktails--it was a good end to our Hawaii visit). The water is more challenging, but has a good variety of sea life. There are other, quieter beaches close by, like Baby beach, that we discovered late in our stay. The shopping centers are a short drive or a comfortable walk; we only tried Old Hanalei, spending the rest of our time at beaches, restaurants, or on the lanai.

"We thought the condo would be good for hosting, like having friends over for dinner or drinks (ideally two to five people total). It has enough kitchen equipment to prepare most of your favorite recipes, and the variety of mood lighting available and the music system make it good for setting a comfortable tone.

"If you are planning on going snorkeling, we'd suggest renting equipment or bringing your own. The condo's booklet suggests several shops, including one that's next to the condo.

"Thanks for the stay!"

Clean, comfortable, beautiful view!

  • 5 of 5

The condo was easy to find, in a safe location with easy parking, and very clean upon entry. We enjoyed breakfasts out on the lanai with beautiful views and the crashing waves right in front of us. The grounds were really well kept, with nice, soft grass wrapping around. Check-in and check-out were extremely easy. Thanks so much!!!

Great views and lovely accomodation

  • 5 of 5

The condo is on the ocean with lovely views overlooking the bay. You are right next to two great snorkeling beaches and one of the best restaurants on the island, where everyone gathers to watch the sunset.

The condo is very comfortable and furnished with great care. The owners are especially helpful and provide a detailed manual of Frequently Asked Questions. The condo is very well equipped with lawn chairs, a cooler, walking sticks etc.

We hated to leave and have already made our reservation for next year.

Sunrise in Paradise

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I just got back from our week long trip to Kauai and could not be happier with the trip. We love the condo and accommodations as much as the island itself. If you are looking for a laid-back comfortable place to rest your head, a beautiful view of ocean and sunrises, and a place that is walking distance to several restaurants and bars then you have found your vacation rental. If you are on the fence ask Chris and Becky your questions for a thorough response!

Absolutely wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

This was an amazing vacation and a fabulous condo with the views and the sound of crashing waves just outside. The Worleys provides excellent description of the condo, beach amenities, and tips and suggestions for things to do, eat and explore. I would book with them again should we return to Kauai. This was a great location and a great home base for us. I would recommend this condo to anyone looking for a place to stay in paradise.
