Spectacular ocean sounds and views, on the side of Kuhio Shores where the giant sea turtles hang-out, lanai faces trade-winds for constant comfort, warm hawaiian decor with Koa wood and etched glass and Hawaiian art, and walking directly out to the ocean from the lanai make 106 is the "best of the best" Kuhio Shores offers.
Note that I'm getting booking requests for winter 2019/20, >24 months in advance, so have blocked those dates currently, and will give priority to repeat guests. Come August (16 months ahead), I'll solidify that schedule, and open what remains for everybody else.
Oyster says: "the only hotel this close to the water on all of Kauai"... It's not a hotel, but I believe the rest is correct.
Why settle for less direct access to the beach? From the upper floors, beach access is through the elevators and parking lot. Where else are you going to find the ocean at such a great price with all the comforts of home?
Located steps from the beach, Kuhio Shores provides snorkeling, scuba, surfing, swimming, sunning, and beachcombing without having to get in your car or even cross the street. You are five minutes away from famous Po'ipu Beach and old Koloa town; with excellent shopping and restaurants in walking distance.
Kuhio Shores 106 is a great location! This one bedroom, one bath, unit will be your home away from home.
Our condo is distinctive with its beautiful native artwork, shell collections, hand-crafted woodwork, etched glass and mirrors, Hawaiian style decor with a Hawaiian CD mix that provides you with a relaxing environment inducing the aloha spirit. Our condo takes you back to the time when the tropics were truly a remote adventure.
Open the windows and listen to the ocean waves lull you to sleep.
Ho'ai bay, right off the lanai, is known as some of the best snorkeling on Kauai. Snorkel with the turtles and the colorful tropical fish, just steps away from the lanai (watch the video above, snorkeling with the turtles off the condo).
From the lanai you can enjoy the view across to the Ha'upu mountain range, or the sunrise on the bay, or looking out onto the ocean, watching the waves, sailing ships, dolphins jumping, or whales breaching in the distance, and the near constant stream of turtles that come within 20' of your feet to the edge of the bay to feed... all relaxing from your lounge on the lanai, sipping your morning coffee.
The lanai faces East, so the lanai is shaded from the afternoon sun, and the ocean trade winds from the East keep the condo nice and cool year round.
We're on the first floor, so you're not confined to an upper floor where the elevator or stairs (and a walk through the parking lot) are necessary to get to the beach. From our lanai, you can spread-out onto the immaculately kept lawn and enjoy unconfined beach access.

About Chris and Becky
Chris & Becky Worley enjoy relaxing on the lanai and snorkeling in the bay.
Chris and Becky purchased this Condo in 2010
Why Chris and Becky chose Poipu
We Love Kauai. Kauai offers all the benefits of a Hawaii without feeling overwhelmed by tourists. I spent a few years living in a rural area in the tropics in the 60's... and Kauai reminds me so much of the way things were back then (of course, with WiFi). The island has many micro-climates, from jungle to desert; this is the dry side. It is common for the entire island to be engulfed in rain, and just as you reach Koloa, the rain subsides. Kuhio Shores is right on the beach; you can't build this close anymore. There's a reef ~200yds. out where the waves break, so the water is normally tranquil by the condo. We've never looked at renting the condo strictly as a business; it's for our fun and our guests fun. The greatest reward we get is in helping our guests have the best possible vacation. It sounds 'sappy' but it's true: it's been our most intangibly rewarding venture, and we love doing it. One additional benefit has been the best, most diligent and hard-working housekeeper imaginable!
What makes this Condo unique
Beach House beach is most popular on the West side of the building, in front of the Beach House restaurant (where the best surfing is). Our East side of the building faces Ho'ai bay with privacy and a small patch of beach that attracts the turtles and not the tourists. There are only 8 ground-level units on this side of the building which provides privacy. If you want to see and be seen, then the beach on the West side of the building is only a short walk. The condo faces east for the sunrise. There is a year-round ocean breeze coming from the east, providing nearly constant flow-through ventilation. Inside the unit, the wood and art remind me of the tropics back in the 60's... so I'm a throw-back for nostalgia in this respect. It adds to the sense that you're on a remote rural island.

Comfort in paradise
Kuhio Shores was the PERFECT space and location for our family of three. So close to everything yet felt private and away from the traffic.
The condo was well equipped with everything we needed to enjoy our stay on this beautiful island. We enjoyed cooking our meals. There are a couple BBQs across the parking lot that are very well maintained. One evening I BBQ'd a chicken and another guest was preparing steaks. It was fun to chat while we cooked (with our wine of course) and compare notes on what attractions to see.
The bed was amazingly comfortable and hearing the ocean from anywhere in the condo was amazing.
We will definitely return and this is where we'll want to stay!
Lovely time in impeccably decorated property
Don’t miss this
Room was nice/spacious and the turtle cove view was amazing. Prefer a west facing unit for sunsets but no big deal. Two very lacking amenities the we normally love in Hawaii are no ocean front pool, actually no pool at all and barbecue pad was at the far end of the parking lot next to the dumpsters. So, for us the overall property was disappointing but everyone has different priorities. If you want a comfortable/spacious room it’s a good spot for you.
Although an ocean view from the grills would be ideal the grills are clean and very well maintained. There's a high wall between the dumpsters and the grills, and the trade winds are from the east... so I've never had any issues with odor.
The East facing view from the lanai is great for the sunrise for your morning coffee and shade in the afternoon (and the ocean breeze). The ground floor means it's only 20 steps to the sunset view (feel free to take beach chairs and refreshments out on the lawn).
Peaceful and Relaxing!
We very much enjoyed our stay. The view of the water was terrific - and the sound of the water crashing onto the shore amazing and right out the door. We watched sea turtles right from our lanai while they snacked along the shoreline.
The condo was well appointed and had everything we needed. The entire complex was in good condition and others staying were considerate and quiet.
All in all - we had a lovely time.
Great location, walking distance to snorkeling spots, shops and restaurants
This condo was clean and very nicely decorated.
We loved all the details and kitchen accessories. Very comfortable bed and bathroom too.
The "gear" closet offered anything you need to go to the beach or picnic.
The owners are very responsive and gave us lots of good suggestions for island activities.
A little bit of Heaven on earth.
My wife and I stayed at Chris and Becky's condo Aug 2 -7. The condo was absolutely beautiful and provided everything one could ask for and very well appointed. The view was breathtaking and the waves crashing on the shore day and night were so peaceful. The sunrise and sunsets were beautiful and very picturesque.
Chris and Becky were excellent host and we look forward to our return visit.
