The Barn: Secret Garden in the redwoods, hot tub, walk to river

Nestled in the historic hamlet of Villa Grande, this two story cottage has a forested, off the beaten path vibe, and is walking distance to a beautiful secluded beach on the Russian River. It’s a 5 minute drive to Downtown Monte Rio, 10 minutes from Guerneville and Occidental and a stone's throw from the coast, towns, and wineries that Sonoma has to offer. Great for work (high speed internet) or play. Access to a kayak in summer.

The house is simple and cozy. The two bedrooms (one upstairs, one downstairs, each with a connected bathroom) have queen-sized mattresses (hybrid and memory foam), and blackout shades.

We have a huge couch with plenty of room for everyone to cozy up for movie nights or sports games (or sleeping - it converts into two queen beds, though note there are limited window coverings in the living room). Alternatively in summer months guests may choose to sleep on the twin over full bunk bed on the porch, but note that the space is not insulated and can get cold at night. It's too cold for sleeping in the winter months.

We have high speed internet and 65" television. There is big patio and garden for relaxing outside, a picnic table for outdoor dining, a propane grill and a spa. Though it is surrounded by redwoods, the property gets sun throughout most of the day, a rarity in the area. If you’re more of an indoor kid, the house comes stocked with puzzles, board games, and paper backs. Curl up on the couch in front of the soaring second floor window and get lost in a good story.

*The bottom floor of this house stays cool-chilly, even in the summer. We do have space heaters and heated blankets but please bring socks/slippers and pack accordingly. The top floor stays nice and warm.
*The roads to the house are a bit bumpy and narrow (think country roads).
*Strict NO SMOKING policy on property.
*There is one outdoor camera located at the front door for security. No other cameras on property.
*Daytime occupancy limit of 6. No parties or amplified music outside.
*Parents with young children should take the pond/fountain and spa into account when booking. Please be responsible for your children at all times on property.
*Quiet hours begin at 10pm.
*It is a rural area - we do our best but internet outages can happen.
*The bunk beds are located on a porch that contains the front door.
*The second floor living room has limited window coverings.
*There is little to no cell phone service in Villa Grande.

Villa Grande is a quaint, storybook village on the banks of the Russian River. The river itself and two lovely beaches are an easy 4-5 minute walk from the house through the pristine Patterson Point Nature Preserve. Jenner Beach is a 20 minute drive and there is lot of beautiful hiking to find locally.

If you are looking for food, drink, and shopping, Monte Rio is a short 5 minute drive away. The quaint towns of Guerneville and Occidental are about a 10-15 minute drive and Healdsburg is 35 minutes away.
