About Anthony Napoli

When this historic home became available in 2006 my wife and I jumped on it. As a real estate broker in Downtown San Diego and a Little Italy resident since 1999 I saw the opportunity to own a special place in a special neighborhood. Very rarely do detached homes go on the market because they are usually passed on to the children and grandchildren of the Italian families that own them. We lucked out in finding this warm and inviting home. You will love it here and keep coming back. I promise you.

Anthony Napoli purchased this house in 2006

Why Anthony Napoli chose San Diego

As you can imagine, everyone loves San Diego and many want to move here if they could. Downtown San Diego has blossomed over the years. Little Italy is the jewel of San Diego and is held up to be a model for urban development by national experts. In fact Little Italy was ranked in the top ten of urban neighborhoods in the entire country. That's why we love it here. The people are friendly and the cafe's and restaurants within walking distance are two numerous to mention. I guess the only thing left to say to those who stay here is 'Buon Appetite'.

What makes this house unique

There are many unique benefits to staying at Doma Napoli. We are located only 5 minutes from the airport and walking distance to the bayfront. There you can visit the Maritine Musuem, the Midway Aircraft carrier plus much, much more. We will have a book of brochures explaining all the local attractions that are literally minutes away by foot or automobile.

Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

First of All, it is important to note that this is not a VRBO of the whole house. That being said, the lower level living space is absolutely wonderful. The entrance is on the side (you can see one of the widows in the lower right of the picture) and there is free reserved parking in an adjacent building (parking in Little Italy??? Unheard of!).

But lets be clear, this is a gem of an apartment. Neat kitchen, nice bedroom and adjoining room, and a living area that will knock your socks off: FULL size pool table in excellent condition, and NY Yankee memorabilia that will make your eyes pop out. Any old Yankee fans or NY natives out there?. Owners Anthony Napoli and Sara are a great couple, responsive to your every need.

A bit of history: We were one of the first, or actually THE first, occupant of this property. This most recent trip was our THIRD stay and we were as happy as the first time.

Easy on/off to the freeways, close to the airport (you do NOT hear flight noise) and walking distance to all the best restaurants in Little Italy. On Saturdays, there is a large Farmers Market also within a few blocks walking.

Little Italy is changing rapidly. Condos are going up all over, and this may be the last sweet spot to rest your tired bones. Great for a couple and will work with 1 child, if you don't mind their playing pool all day.

Would we come back a fourth time? You betcha.

A quaint little home in the heart of Little Italy!! Best location to visit San Diego!!

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for the perfect place to stay in San Diego, this is where you want to be. I had family visiting from out of town and needed some extra room to accommodate them. That's when I found this gem in the heart of Little Italy (my favorite place to shop and eat in San Diego)!!

First, I must thank Anthony and Sara for being the greatest hosts! They were more than accommodating to all of our needs and were there to answer any questions and make recommendations on where to go and what to do. Being that I'm from the area I didn't require many, but they are wonderful people and VERY involved in our community. I was proud to be a guest in their home. Thank you for everything!

Location, Location, Location: You are 1 block away from some of the greatest restaurants and shops in Little Italy (and San Diego). If you're familiar with the Food Network or Travel Channel, anytime they stop in San Diego they are in Little Italy. If your stay takes you through the weekend you must check out the Farmer's Market (it's 1.5 blocks South of the house). If you want to explore some other hotspots these places are a short $5 Uber/Lyft away: Gaslamp (downtown), Balboa Park, Bankers Hill, Seaport Village, and Hillcrest.

Even though you really don't need a rental car there is one parking spot is provided in the building next to the house.

Food Recommendations:

Brunch (because who gets up for breakfast anymore) - Queenstown Public House (Little Italy), Snooze (Hillcrest), The Mission (East Village or North Park).

Dinner (Little Italy) - Filippi's Pizza Grotto, Ristorante Illando, Prepkitchen Little Italy, Ironside Fish & Oyster. You really can't pick a bad restaurant in Little Italy.

Dessert - Extraordinary Desserts (Little Italy and Banker's Hill), Babycakes (Hillcrest), The Elegant Truffle (Point Loma).

I have lived in San Diego for over 4 years and have yet to eat a bad meal. It's a great place for foodies, beer snobs, and speak easy's.

You will love staying at this house, I guarantee it. The memorabilia throughout the house is really neat. I will be sending a gift from Italy next year to add to this marvelous collection. Thank you again for all of the hospitality and I look forward to seeing you both again soon.

Piacere Conoscerti. Grazie mille!!

Ciao!!

Cares about his guest!

Helped with every part of my stay, even send something I left behind to me in SF hotel where I was going next. Only one block from the street in Little Italy where all the good places to eat are.

Ideal place for us plus gracious hosts

  • 5 of 5

We found a gem in Doma Napoli. It's located very conveniently in Little Italy, making access to dozens of good restaurants a matter of no more than about a six block stroll. Within four blocks was a tram station that made getting around San Diego without a car very easy and affordable.

Walking into the apartment was a trip down memory lane for this baseball fan. The main room is chock full of baseball memorabilia and the 1950's style dining table and kitchen appointments just added to the effect.

Anthony was a gracious host and we really enjoyed each of our encounters with him, including an informal 30-45 minute chat with him the second day that we were there.

The next time that we go to San Diego, we hope that we will be able to stay here again.

Great location and host

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I came down to San Diego for my brother's wedding and decided to stay as close to Little Italy as possible. Thankfully we found this gem. The location is perfect for those who are looking to see Little Italy and the waterfront. Anthony the host is really nice and easy to communicate with. He provides a great apartment. The apartment itself is very well stocked and has everything you would need. Its great to have a full kitchen in case you want to cook. The pool table is a heck of a nice touch as is all of the sports memorabilia in the room. You can really tell he is a part of the community and is passionate about Little Italy. I would highly recommend staying here and I hope we will be able to stay here again in the future.
