The property was comfortable and clean. I suggest at the bottom of the driveway to place signage with the address. Although the house has air conditioning, the upstair bedrooms were warm for sleeping.

The house interior was wonderful but the listing should identify the 0.4 mi gravel road. Not good for sports cars!

The house was wonderful but the listing should identify the 0.4 mile gravel road/drive that is NOT good for anyone in a sports car!

Quiet, spacious home

Five adults stayed here during a sports competition. There was plenty of room for everyone to rest between games. The kitchen was well-equipped. We appreciated a large dining table. The living rooms were great for lounging. The bedrooms were spacious and the bed were comfortable. (Ask ahead of time about the jetted tub and sauna if those amenities are importantly to you.) We enjoyed our late winter stay. The property looks great for enjoying other seasons too.

Three stars for this property - probably two and a half if I could.First: the good. It is spacious. A dozen people could sleep here, as long as beds are shared. The beds are reasonably comfortable, and linens and towels are fine. None of the bedrooms has a single chair. The location is good; quiet, but with easy access to Traverse City and various attractions. It was clean. The rest: 1) Would have been good to know Autumn Lane is a half mile one lane rocky dirt road. A car with low clearance could have a problem. At a minimum, you'll need a car wash after driving this dusty trail.2) Jacuzzi is prominently advertised. Technically true. It's only a bathtub tucked into a dark corner of the master bedroom. 3) Sauna: similar story. It's 3 feet wide in the master bathroom; 2 people fit, 3 might squeeze. If the implication is an amenity for communal relaxation, this is not it.4) Ragged grounds, firepit in the back, with Adirondack chairs. But no firewood. When I inquired, was told that firewood is not provided. Perhaps the host believes fetching firewood is a vacation activity.5) Kitchen is underequipped with only basic pots and pans; no blender or food processer. Ice maker does not work. 6) Overall space is tired and worn. 7) Checkout time on VRBO site is 11AM, but host demanded 10AM via email messages - not good.Impression: this property overpromises and underdelivers; maybe a value proposition for a large group. For polish or genuine amenities, look elsewhere.

Pictures Better than Reality

The pictures oversold this property. There is much about this property that is worn and rough around the edges. Seems like renovations are incomplete and partially completed. The outside needs a ton of work. We partially rented this property to have a nice big yard for our team to gather but the yard was overgrown and had discarded furniture and a tire in a pile near the fire pit.

The inside of the property was clean, very spacious, and enough beds for our entire group of 8. The check-in and check-out processes were very easy and straight-forward. Location was not bad. It was at least a 20 - 30 minute drive to beaches and downtown area. The exterior of the property was pretty run down looking. A retaining wall next to the driveway is falling apart, there is a deck from the second level that looks unsafe to walk on.A few things that didn't go well or could be improved: the second day of our stay the air conditioner stopped working. The temps inside got up to the mid-80's on the first floor and felt even hotter on the second floor. My husband ended up having to go out at 11:00PM to buy a new filter for the HVAC. I contacted the host management company and they eventually sent someone out to fix it. It did finally start working again early the morning of the 4th day of our stay. There were also a few other things that were disappointing such as the toilet in the first floor didn't flush. My husband fixed that as well while we were there. The lamp in the basement was broken and could only be turned on and off by plugging and unplugging the unit. The kids table/chairs in the basement were losing bolts out of the bottom. We kept finding little pieces on the floor all week. Now, I realize these are minor issues but when you pay 1000 / day, you expect things to be functional and not falling apart.

There were things that were nice about this property such as the open living room and 4 bedrooms upstairs with comfy beds. However there was much about this property that looks like a current fixer upper and was not shown in the listing. For example, the back deck paint is chipping and peeling. The plumbing needs work, there was no pergola over the back deck and the landscaping was very run down and no curtains or blinds over the windows . It’s also down a long dirt road and was NOT 10 minutes walk from the winery as listed. When asked about was shown a Google Maps search showing 25 minutes through the woods. This place has real potential for sure but needs a lot of work. If you have a group that doesn’t care about these types of things the lower price may work for you. These were just some of the surprises we weren’t expecting based on the listing.
