Home was very comfortable for my friends and I. Clean and quiet with most everything we needed. Super quiet side of the island but near enough to Bar Harbor that groceries weren't a problem and Acadia was a quick drive.
This is my 2nd stay at this house and it was just as wonderful as the previous stay. Very clean. Convenient location. Nice backyard for my dog. I will be back!
This was our 2nd time staying here and we had a great time. House had everything we needed. Happy to see that air conditioning was added since our last visit. Thank you!!
Great stay, house was even better than pictured. Loved the pet friendly aspect. Host was great with communication and fixing a wifi hiccup. Highly recommend. Far enough away from the city to be quiet while close enough to kake a quick trip to the harbor for tourist things.
House was clean, comfortable, and well stocked. Convenient location for activities at Acadia National Park and around Mt Desert. Hope to return next year.
Great location! Your can see all the stars from the backyard. Very low light pollution. We had some snags with hot water not working but prompt attention fixed it the next day. Great communication from the host. While I wasn't expecting luxury given the pricing and pet friendly policy, the carpets on the first floor are stained, worn and need replacement to a degree that I've not seen before. I couldn't bring myself to walk on them without shoes! The linens in the master need replacement (worn and pilling). Other than that everything was as expected. The upstairs queen mattress was in better shape with better linens than the master. Also the upstairs carpet was much cleaner. If you stay here be sure to visit the stone barn trail down the street. A quiet gem!
Large house for great price that you can bring your dog!
This is a large 4 bedroom house centrally located on the island. Only about 10-15 minute drive to bar harbor, less than 10 minutes to park loop road, and around 15 minutes to southwest harbor. The place was very clean, easy to get to and even has a fenced in area for my dog. I have a great dane, so that should give you an idea of how roomy the place is since he had plenty of room in the house and fenced area.
You are also only 2 minutes away from the dog kennels that offer boarding and daycare for dogs. The owner Janice was very responsive to any questions and we had plenty of towels available. Full laundry also on site. I will definitely be back!
We had a group of three couples and two medium to large dogs. This place was great for the dogs. The fenced in yard was perfect. There was plenty of seating in the living room for us all and we made the one and a half baths work for us. Very helpful to have the downstairs toilet separate from the shower. Cable was great. Loved having a tv in the bedroom. Internet was great for basic use, simple gaming, and zoom meetings. Well stocked kitchen and all the basic supplies in the house were there as advertised. We made good use of the puzzles :)
Definitely would recommend to others and would stay again.
You'll choose this property for the value, and it should meet your expectations.
Host was very prompt with communications and the location of the property was good.
Stairs leading to the upper level were tight. You had to focus when walking up or down. Bathroom on upper level was in a bedroom with a sheet as a door. Bathroom on main level was separated with toilet in one room, sink and shower in another along with washer and dryer. Main floor toilet in need of adjustment.
The property had all the towels, detergents, soaps, pans, pots, etc. needed to make meals and shower/wash clothes; so that was nice. Our intent was to be outside as much as possible so we spent much of our time exploring, but the property's exterior could have been maintained better. The grass was high and the portion of yard fenced is small.
The property ran out of heating fuel so no hot water on the last day. We contacted the host, and she was very helpful, offering us access to other properties and calling for an emergency delivery. We opted to leave earlier than expected so we did not follow through with either option she provided.
Overall, the host was attentive and communicated well, the rental was a good value, and with some minor attention to issues would be a great place to stay again. Thanks.
My husband, dog, and I had a wonderful stay here! It was the perfect spot to navigate the island, while being quiet and away from the crowds. The home was very comfortable and relaxing to spend time in. I love that there are games and books there as well. The fenced in yard was perfect for letting our dog out for a bit-especially on the rainy days. Janice was great at communicating and made checkin very easy. If we plan another Bar Harbor trip, we would stay here again and would highly recommend to others.
Perfect place for our family while visiting Acadia!
There was plenty of space for our family to spread out. Decent kitchen to make meals in and quiet spot for my husband to work in an upstairs room. The neighbors were fantastic too. Great. Enteral location for Desert Island and all parts of Acadia. Close to Bar Harbor. Host was great at communicating.
The house is a great location - everything is a quick trip away. The wifi is excellent. The beds were comfortable. The floors and surfaces had been cleaned. But, the dishes were put away dirty, the shower curtain was moldy, and there was a general mold smell that came from the bathroom. The stairs are a bit treacherous - very narrow and steep. We had problems with mice in the house. Janice was responsive and brought over traps.

Why they chose this property
My husband and I spent many summers here until we decided to move here in 1989. We love Acadia National Park and the towns on MDI. (And fresh lobster of course). Spend your vacation at our rental property and I'm sure you'll fall in love with Maine too!
