The house was “as advertised.” The amenities are really what sets this house apart. Even with it raining most of our stay, the kids were able to swim and enjoy the hot tub. We enjoyed several sauna sessions and felt the house was plenty large to accommodate a couple of families. Great house, would rent again.

Overall we had a great stay and enjoyed our time at Black Bear Ridge. Communication prior to our stay was consistent and thorough. The location was great and the property was filled with fun for the family.Our only negative experience revolved around the hot tub. It had a definite smell to it the first time we opened it and an excessive amount of foam and stench when the bubbles were turned on. Given someone had checked out the day we arrived, it must not have been checked. After some communication back and forth spanning over 24 hours, we were given instructions on how to locate the chemicals so that we could address the issue. For the price we paid, I was underwhelmed by the response to a clear issue that should have been resolved prior to our arrival.

We absolutely loved our stay here! We gathered to celebrate my mom’s 60th birthday, and the home was a perfect fit for our group - three couples and their children, my parents, and my two brothers. The layout is incredibly thoughtful: the shared living spaces made it easy to come together for meals, drinks, and great conversation, while the bedrooms were nicely spaced to ensure peace and quiet for anyone turning in early. The upstairs door at the top of the stairs was especially ideal for families with young babies, as it helped keep noise well contained.We were able to enjoy every amenity the home offers - the hot tub, sauna, heated pool, indoor fireplace, and outdoor fire pit. We were even lucky enough to have mild winter weather, which made the experience that much better. The kitchen was well equipped and functional for a large group; we did have to pick up a few small essentials at the nearby Whole Foods - sugar, regular coffee and plastic wrap.One small detail we had overlooked when reviewing the listing is that the second floor is accessed via the deck and outdoor entrances rather than from inside the main living space. This wasn’t an issue for our group, but it’s helpful to be aware of when planning.The location truly can’t be beat. You’re just minutes from downtown for shopping, dining, or strolling, yet once you’re back at the house it feels peaceful, private, and surrounded by stunning views.If you’re considering booking, take this as your sign.
