Overview

About the property

Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Other (See Description), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-4)

This triplex house has everything you need and suits the vacationer or business traveler. The house clings onto the side of the mountain, on a dead-end road, giving one the feel of truly being in the mountains but only 1.5 miles from the center of downtown.

We designed and built the multi-family house in 1993, and the main unit served as our home for several years. This particular 1 bedroom unit is best suited for a couple or small family with a king bed and large sectional sofa for extra sleeping. It is equipped with comfortable furnishings and has a small patio to enjoy the mountain views.

We believe you will truly enjoy your 'repose' time dwelling in this clean, 'clutter free' apartment. It is bright and open, yet very comfortable, cozy and intimate. If you are looking for something sleek, unique, and close to everything, then this apartment will satisfy your vacation desires and help create a memorable stay here in scenic Asheville.

About Sherry Masters

I am a local architect and Asheville native and my wife Sherry is also a native of the area. Sherry has formerly worked as the manager/buyer for Grovewood Gallery for over 20-years and is heavily involved with promoting local arts and crafts. My firm concentrates primarily on healthcare design and other institutional work.

Sherry Masters purchased this apartment in 1993

Why Sherry Masters chose Asheville

We built this property as our primary home with rentals units as well and wanted to create a real sense of place on this challenging small, steep lot. The design is a simple vertical scheme with a relatively small footprint reflecting local vernacular yet the interiors are modern. This is an example of sustainable and sensitive design, yet ironically, this type of structure could not be built today given the current ordinance...

We have people who have lived in our units and still say 'we miss that place'. Architecture is about creating a setting for people, and if done well, should instill lasting memories.

What makes this apartment unique

Convenience to interstate, downtown, and Biltmore Village. Surrounded by nature and mountain views. This property offers open space to relax and unwind.

Adorable loft with great views of the sunrise

  • 5 of 5

This loft was just the right place to end our week vacation. Its roomy and comfortable and only a few blocks from downtown. The owners were right there if we needed them but not once did they intrude on our privacy. The loft is adorably decorated and had all the amenities of home. I highly recommend this property. Thank you so much Sherry.

Gorgeous inside and out

  • 4 of 5

Nothing like the opportunity to stay in a mountain retreat. The views each morning, cup of coffee in hand...perfect. Stocked kitchen made it easy to cook, we caught up on a little laundry. Very quiet too.

Great Get-Away

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the Masters' apartment home. It sits in a quaint neighborhood on a narrow road above the city and there is a really beautiful view from the back patio. Sherry knew it was my wife's 50th birthday and had a birthday card waiting for her upon our arrival. So thoughtful! The apartment provided everything we needed, making the stay hassle-free, and the furniture was even comfortable. We loved all of the windows to let the natural light in...and being able to leave the bedroom windows open to let the breeze in at night was especially nice. We used Uber for several trips around town, including to and from a concert at the Highland Brewery and the location was so convenient and affordable. Our hosts were also very responsive to our communications. We definitely recommend this property.

Comfortable Mountain Retreat

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were in Asheville for the weekend to experience the diverse restaurants in the area plus a nice hike a short drive away. This apartment had everything we needed and was very comfortable. The pictures and description listed were perfectly accurate, so there were no surprises. Sherry was very accommodating and prompt with responses to my inquiries. We highly recommend this rental and would happily stay there again.

A great view, and a very nice place!

  • 5 of 5

This is our 2nd time here - what a nice property! It is very close to downtown and major freeways. Very clean, private. Towels, linens are all provided. A washer and dryer is also a plus. Sherry is a gracious host and very attentive to texts. It can be tricky navigating the roads up this way, but that's part of the charm - it is super quiet :)

Asheville is known for it's wonderful architecture, art galleries, great restaurants and hip shops. This eclectic city in the mountains is a perfect place to explore and to make as a home base while venturing the mountains of Western North Carolina. The city offers a variety of 'urban' activities while one can spend a lifetime exploring the Southern Appalachians. The highest peak, Mount Mitchell is less than an hours drive via the Blue Ridge Parkway. These lush mountains have attracted visitors for years including George Vanderbilt who set out to build his 'dream house' - The Biltmore, which is a must see for any first-time visitor to the area. One can spend days shopping downtown and eating at some of the best restaurants in the region which offer a wide variety of ethnic tastes. The many craft breweries have touted Asheville as 'Beer City' the past few years and and the art scene is nationally known. Asheville will indeed make a lasting impression.
