About the property

Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Other (See Description), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-4)

Our place on Beaucatcher is a modern, loft-style apartment that has everything you need and suits the vacationer or business traveler. This house clings onto the side of Beaucatcher mountain on a dead-end road giving one the feel of truly being in the mountains but only 1.5 miles from the center of downtown.

The apartment is open and airy and has a nice, new kitchen if you wish to cook, or just warm-up some left-overs from one of the many downtown eating establishments. We designed and built this multi-family house 20 years ago and the main unit served as our home for several years. This particular unit has been recently renovated and is equipped with brand new furnishings. We have just opened this unit up as vacation rental for folks to take advantage of it's proximity and architectural character.

We believe you will truly enjoy your 'repose' time dwelling in this clean, 'clutter free' apartment. It is bright and open, yet very comfortable, cozy and intimate. If you are looking for something sleek, unique, and close to everything, then this apartment will satisfy your vacation desires and help create a memorable stay here in scenic Asheville.

About Sherry Masters

I am a local architect and Asheville native and my wife Sherry is also a native of the area. Sherry has formerly worked as the manager/buyer for Grovewood Gallery for over 20-years and is heavily involved with promoting local arts and crafts. My firm concentrates primarily on healthcare design and other institutional work.

Sherry Masters purchased this apartment in 1992

Why Sherry Masters chose Asheville

We built this property as our primary home with rentals units as well and wanted to create a real sense of place on this challenging small, steep lot. The design is a simple vertical scheme with a relatively small footprint reflecting local vernacular yet the interiors are modern. This is an example of sustainable and sensitive design, yet ironically, this type of structure could not be built today given the current ordinance...

We have people who have lived in our units and still say 'we miss that place'. Architecture is about creating a setting for people, and if done well, should instill lasting memories.

Perfect for Get Away

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have stayed at a number of Home Away properties. This one was right at the top of the list. It was clean, beautifully decorated and well equipped. Shortly after arriving and getting settled, Sherry stopped in to say hello and offer assistance if needed. We are very grateful that we found this gem of a place and look forward to our next visit to Asheville (where our son lives). We will defnitely contact Sherry and reserve with her again. Thank you! Gary and Anne

off the beaten path, yet close to everything!

  • 5 of 5

Had a great stay. Sherry was very accommodating. Apartment was very clean and well-kept. 5-10 minute drive to downtown shops/restaurants/breweries etc. 10 minute drive to Omni Grove Park Inn for conference. 10 minute drive to Biltmore village. Very convenient location for all Asheville has to offer! Great space for my wife and I. Would definitely stay again when back in Asheville.

Cozy clean &. Perf ct stay

  • 5 of 5

We were thrilled with the architectural touches in this cozy 2 floor loft. The owners had special touches:

-frig stocked with water

W/d so we could do laundry

-great king size bed

-beautiful mountain views & super quiet

-short drive to downtown & central to everything

-wonderful welcome binder with excellent detail to welcome us

We truly enjoyed our long Thanksgiving at their house. It was even more special because we ha the opportunity to meet Sherry & her husband while there & they are the nicest people.

Asheville is known for it's wonderful architecture, art galleries, great restaurants and hip shops. This eclectic city in the mountains is a perfect place to explore and to make as a home base while venturing the mountains of Western North Carolina. The city offers a variety of 'urban' activities while one can spend a lifetime exploring the Southern Appalachians. The highest peak, Mount Mitchell is less than an hours drive via the Blue Ridge Parkway. These lush mountains have attracted visitors for years including George Vanderbilt who set out to build his 'dream house' - The Biltmore, which is a must see for any first-time visitor to the area. One can spend days shopping downtown and eating at some of the best restaurants in the region which offer a wide variety of ethnic tastes. The many craft breweries have touted Asheville as 'Beer City' the past few years and now Asheville has one of only four Sake Brewery's in the entire country. Asheville will indeed make a lasting impression.
