About Gary Caudill

My name is Gary Caudill, We live in Norcross Georgia (just outside of Atlanta). I grew up in Northeastern Kentucky near Ashland, and attended college at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia (Go Herd)! After college I moved to Atlanta, Georgia and have been here ever since. We have 2 dogs and love our time in Hilton Head!

Gary Caudill purchased this condo in 2013

Why Gary Caudill chose Island Areas

My parents traded one of their timeshare weeks into the former Adventure Inn back in 1989 and I joined them for a portion of the week. I really liked the location and property and checked to see if they had any timeshare weeks available for sale. While they had deeded timeshares available, I opted to purchase a long term timeshare that had 19 years left on it. The week was in September which is a great time to go when the weather is still warm but no crowds since kids are back at school. My parents decided they liked it there too, so they checked and got the week after me. We were both in the Carolina building and enjoyed our time each year. When our timeshare expired, I thought I would then go visit other places, but the location and staff at the resort was so nice that I continued to rent. By that time we were renting multiple units in order to accommodate my partner, Matt, me, my parents and several friends that we introduced to this incredible resort. We enjoy waking up early in the morning to get our coffee then we walk on the beach and watch the sunrise. Realizing how much we liked it, we decided to it was time to buy our own little slice of paradise so we could enjoy it whenever we wanted.

What makes this condo unique

Our Condo is in the best location for biking, beach combing, relaxing poolside, shopping at Coligny Plaza, driving onto Sea Pines resort to enjoy the infamous Salty Dog Cafe for some great frozen beverages and is within walking, biking, or driving distance to many restaurants and shops. The South Forest Beach area is one of the few parts of the island that has easy beach access and so many conveniences nearby. There are not many areas on HHI where condo resorts are located, and only those in South Forest Beach are truly beach front property.

Beautiful view and great location

  • 5 of 5

Could not beat the view - from the living room, there is relaxing sight of the ocean - nothing obstructs the view. Condo well equipped. Gary was very responsive to my requests. He recommended some great restaurants. Pool area very inviting and lots to do in area. I drove to Beaufort one day (great place with numerous galleries) and visited Bluffton. The theater at nearby Coligny shopping center shows movies that will not be in the mega cinemas. Very relaxing week!

Perfect Location!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time to the island and we fell in love with it the first time so we decided to go back. My favorite part of this condo was the view of the beach, I sat on the balcony every morning sipping on coffee enjoying the view. The condo was decorated so cute, it was a little small but we spent so much of our time on the beach, shopping, riding bikes, fishing and going out to eat. It was stocked with everything you would need. We liked how the cabinets were labeled so you would not have to search for everything you needed. This was by far the best "relaxing" vacation I have had. Hopefully we will be back in a few years.

Owner's Response: We try to make our condo as comfortable as possible for guest so when they walk in they feel at home. I'm glad you found the labels helpful; we felt it would be helpful to guests to know exactly where everything is in the kitchen and what remotes go with what electronics. We hope you are able to come back soon!

Very nice!

  • 4 of 5

Great spot with view of the beach. All the amenities, including a Sleep Number bed. Very comfortable seating in the living area and the balcony is fabulous. This is the second time we've stayed in this unit and due to construction next door, the pool has been moved and it's not as private as it once was, although it's still at the "quiet" end. The location near Coligny is great; it's a short bike ride or about 2 minutes by car to the shops and restaurants at the Circle. All in all, a lot of bang for your buck.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review! I agree with your comments about the pool. The new pool is beautiful and actually more convenient to get to but we miss the old pool with the Live Oak tree nearby. I feel lucky that our condo is on the "quiet end". It is nice to be able to go out on the balcony and enjoy the view with few distractions. Also, there are few people who walk by the front door as well so there is little outside noise from that side of the condo.

Really cute condo, perfect location

  • 5 of 5

The location is awesome! The view is amazing, as close to the water as you can get, you can hear the ocean from the condo. Originally I thought I wanted to be closer to Coligny, but this is better. You are close enough to ride a bike or walk like we did, but the ocean by this condo isn't nearly as crowded. We walked along the beach further into town and were really surprised at how crowded it was there, this condo was much better.

The condo is decorated very nicely, the kitchen is fully stocked and everything is labeled so you don't feel lost trying to figure out where things are and what light switch goes to what. We enjoyed using the balcony furniture, the bed was comfortable, plenty of towels, extra blankets and pillows. Fans in every room, we didn't even run the AC.

The condo also has an elevator and luggage carts, so being on the third floor is not a problem at all-in fact we prefer it for the nice view!

The bathroom could use some updating, but everything was clean and water pressure was good. The space is a little tight, but it was fine for a couple and probably would be find for a family with small kids.

Check in and out was easy, we were coming in late, but they have a lock box you can access to get the key.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this place and we would stay again. They even have books you can read and enjoy the sounds of the waves.

Owner's Response: Thank for your review. As the owner we too didn't like the bathroom and I did update it in the fall of 2015. While some owners have chosen to remove the tub, we decided to keep it for those adults who like to take baths as well as for children. We did install a new floor, toilet and vanity as well as updated fixtures. We haven't had the opportunity to take pictures of the updated bathroom but will soon and update our site.

Savannah, GA is a 45 minute drive and worth the visit to spend the day touring on a trolley bus seeing the many outstanding homes built on the squares of the first planned city in America. You can tour Juliette Gordon Low's house, the woman who started the Girl Scouts, see the beautiful Cathedral of St John the Baptist and hear the colorful history of one of Georgia's oldest cities.

Beaufort, SC is a beautiful little town that has some incredible history. Horse drawn carriage tours are available if the weather isn't too hot, otherwise an air conditioned bus is available. You can reach Beaufort in about 45 minutes.

Charleston, SC is another great destination about 2 hours north on US 17. A bus tour is the best way to see the opulent homes on the battery that have a great view of the harbor where the Cooper and Ashley Rivers meet. The cuisine is decadent and shopping the Straw Market for local wares is always fun. A stroll up King Street is where you'll find some of the best shopping in the South.

Staying close to the resort, you can spend time at the free petting zoo inside Sea Pines, and go visit Salty Dog Cafe at South Beach or go to the top of the lighthouse in Harbourtown. A visit to Sygney's Bakery on Arrow Rd is a real treat where you can have their signature Key Lime Pound Cake or variety of cookies, cakes and breads. With over 75 miles of bike trails, you can get great exercise by riding along under the tree canopy of the many trails. Tanger Outlets have a location just off the island in Bluffton along US 278, the main road into Hilton Head.

Many amazing restaurants nearby. Feel free to ask about some of our favorites and those that we avoid. Even if we are booked, please check with me as a good friend owns the condo 2 doors down and if her's is available I can rent it as well. She has the same living room furniture and bunk beds. Her bath room has been updated with a large shower and her bedroom has a king size bed, the only condo in the 84 unit resort with a king size bed.
