About Shelley Medjuck

We live in Victoria and love to get away to our cottage in just 35 minutes we feel like we're hundreds of miles away from it all.

Shelley Medjuck purchased this cottage in 2010

Why Shelley Medjuck chose Sooke

My husband and I purchased this property because you just can't have a house any closer to the water!

I love the peace and quiet, watching the wildlife, sipping wine in the hot tub, reading by the fire or entertaining friends with fresh crab caught right next to our float ... heaven.

The property was beautiful - ocean views, bright with natural light and completely charming.

Our experience was excellent from start to finish. The owners responded to my initial inquiry in only a few hours and everything I needed to know to about our stay was readily available. Upon arrival the home was very clean and looked exactly as pictured online. The kitchen is very well appointed, wirh a huge variety of cooking appliances and utensils. Beautiful water views out the kitchen made cooking so enjoyable.

All the beds were very comfortable and there were enough different types of pillows that everyone was able to find ones they liked.

We travelled with our 16 month old toddler and she had such a great time! The space was very kid friendly and she loved exploring all of the outdoor spaces. The best part was that we were able to relax and indulge in the evenings after she was asleep. It is difficult to plan a kid friendly holiday that is actually a pleasurable adult vacation too. Amazingly, this cottage managed to do just that!

We loved our time here and can't wait to return.

What a find!!!

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful place from which to see this coast of Vancouver Island.

The house itself is lovely. Perched right on the water, with eagles overhead and seals almost so close you could touch them. Yet still just minutes from all you need to make a holiday work. Don't miss luxuriating in the hot tub whilst gulls swirl and call overhead.

It manages to feel both homey and elegant. Tastefully designed and well laid out. Great fireplace that grounds the living area. Kitchen and baths all really well appointed. Good reliable tech set up. We throughly enjoyed out visit at Sea Wash.

Shelley was a very accommodating host - eager to share information about the home, the area and things to do. Lovely to deal with.

Really, if you are coming out this way, it is a can't miss spot.

Amazing place - just as advertised

  • 5 of 5

If you want to get away from it all, be close to nature, cast a line from the deck and catch fish - this is the place. Delightfully decorated with all the appliances you could wish for. No TV though - which isn't a bad thing!

Wonderful, Relaxing Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful cottage on the water to enjoy the beautiful outdoors. Seals on the dock, eagles, deer in the yard, and geese. Fish from the dock, watch the stars from the hot tub, grill and eat outdoors and enjoy the beautiful flower gardens. The inside of the cottage was fully furnished with everything you'd need to enjoy yourself. Loved the décor and especially enjoyed the window seat for reading and watching the water. Totally relaxing vacation!

Great location and awesome place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time here for us. We really enjoy the location of the cottage. When visiting the island we NEED to stay at a place right on the water. Prairie folks need to fall asleep and wke up to the sound of water. This place provides that.

We had a couple concerns about the property but the owners were quick to resolve them.

Next time we visit the area we hope the cottage will be available!

Private, peaceful spot

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is charming, cheerful and bright, with all amenities from kitchen spices to logs for the fire. It feels very peaceful and secluded while still close to Sooke. Although not large, the 6 of us felt we had plenty of room to enjoy the views. The loft is a very cozy space that teenagers will love, especially the wooden ladder to access it. We loved watching the seals, otters, herons, swans and other wildlife regularly passing by. It is less than 15 min to walk into town for groceries or coffee, and just a little further to access the Galloping Goose trails for cycling or running. It was great having the hot tub and fire pit, they both extended our time outdoors in the cooler evenings. The only issue we had was with our rental minivan, which had some difficulty negotiating the very steep driveway in the rain. We would love to come back for another visit, next time in a better car :).

Owner's Response: So happy you had a comfortable stay and enjoyed the peace and seclusion of Sea Wash. Yes it is great that town is close enough to walk to, or a very quick cycle away, it is such a bonus when you forget something and don't have far to go! We too love all the wildlife that can be observed from the cottage. The fish are now starting to jump which is another wonderful activity to watch from the deck! Next time you come I will tell you about another trail by the river to walk or run on, that's just 5 minutes away! Hope to see you again!
