Your family and or friends will enjoy the miles of state forest trails outside the back door for summer biking & walks and cross country skiing during the winter. You can access the trails from the home and go for miles. All the roads in the neighborhood dead end at trail heads. North National Park is walking distance to the house and offers Frisbee golf, ball fields, snowmobile rentals and much more. The Lake at Kings Beach is 2.5 miles away and has boat and kayak rentals. Shopping and restaurants 2.5 miles away, casinos 3 miles away that will satisfy your thirst for nightlife. Crystal Bay Club is known for their music venues, and Cal Neva for their spa services. There is an abundance of restaurants and shops scattered up and down Kings Beach that will cater to your daytime or evening dining fancies.

In the wintertime… you are in the middle of the North Shore with easy access to all the ski resorts. The house is 4 miles to the entrance of Northstar which offers a great all-around skiing mountain. Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley are minutes away with a short cut that eliminates dealing with traffic in Tahoe City. Diamond Peak and MT Rose are 20 min away and offers less expensive skiing with specials and family pricing. Cross country skiing and snow shoeing are literally out the back door…and for those adventure enthusiasts, there is a multitude of snowmobiling rentals as close at 2 miles from the house.

For those who just want to decompress, this home is the perfect antidote. The house is designed for comfort, and with over 3100 sq ft of living space, you have ample room for large families or groups of friends to spread out.

As you walk in the front door, you are greeted by 22 ft cathedral ceilings, and a large open long living area. To one side is the kitchen the opens into the dining area. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the amenities for cooking and has a countertop with 3 bar stools. There is lots of counter space and cupboards for your items. The dining room has large mission style table that could seat 12 and overlooks the views off the patio. A slider opens up to the deck with hot tub, BBQ, patio furniture, and panoramic views. The views overlook the meadow and tree lined mountains. You can sit here for hours taking in the sights and smells of the pine trees. The views from the hot tub really adds to the enjoyment of soaking. In the living area is large leather sectional sofa which faces a river rock hearth country stove fireplace, and 50 Smart HD TV. You can sit on the couch, watch TV and wildlife at the same time. The room is lined with windows to take full advantage of the views. Scattered pillows and throws will make you feel at home. Next to the sectional is a full bathroom, pool table and another slider that exits to the hot tub. The kids love the pool table which is located at the other end of the dining area. Adults can socialize at the table, and kids can play pool without bothering each other. Summer or winter, morning or evening, you'll enjoy the peace and solitude from any part of the house.

Off the living area is the Master Bedroom. This room is HUGE. It has the high A frame ceilings and feels like a separate cabin. Besides feeling like you're in a separate cabin, it is quiet and private from the living area. This is a great spot for kids or infants napping yet being close to your activities. There is plenty of room for the King bed, 2 twins, trundle bed, TV, and large bathroom with closet and changing area. The bathroom is also set up with rails and bars for the elders who may need a little help. There is also a private deck for sunning in the morning.

Down the stairs is large laundry room with washer/dryer and exit which can be used as a mud room in wintertime. There are 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on this level. 2 King rooms with views to the forest and haveTV's, 1 queen too with TV, 1 King bedroom with childs bed.,1 LARGE King room with 2 twin beds and TV/DVD,. Teenagers/kids love this room because of the size and its at another end of the house to make noise and watch their favorite movies. There is extra floor space here for sleeping bags. Because Lake Tahoe's motto is just 'play hard' extra attention has been given to a great bed and a good nights sleep. All the bedding is Hotel Style with memory foam mattress pad, luxury 300 count sheets, 4 down or down alternative pillows, duvet, and bed throw. You'll feel like you're in an upscale hotel.

The open areas and high ceilings enhance the areas to socialize with family or friends, without feeling closed in. The different rooms in the house will allow your group to be together or separate.

There are all the amenities of home and more. Coffee service is provided for your first morning here. The furnishings are user friendly with plenty of seating in the living area and patio. Large, wooden beams, triangle shaped windows, and mountain decor throughout the house compliment the 'Tahoe' feeling. The location and amenities of this home makes this a great vacation home year-round.

Why Sandy Schrader chose Lake Tahoe North Shore CA

The location. The house sits on a meadow and is surrounded by hiking trails, yet just up from the Lake with all the activities. Super quiet pocket of homes, you can walk in the middle of the street and not be bothered. The smell of the pines is intoxicating.

We were very happy with our stay at "The Timberhaus". This is the third time I've rented it for a group of ten adults, mixed couples and singles. The house is spacious, clean and well furnished. All of the web site information is accurate and the photos accurately reflect the appearance and amenities. The owner is easy to work with. The property manager was very attentive, telephoning us upon arrival to check on if we needed anything. The property is great for a group of adults and/or large family's. We highly recommend the local walking trails from the house. Nice neighborhood and close to beach and golf.

This house is in the middle of the Northshore and has easy access to all Lake Tahoe has to offer. 1.5 miles from the highway, getting around the Tahoe Basin is effortless. The drive around the Lake is breathtaking and you’ll enjoy the different little towns that surround the Lake. . These houses are in a quiet pocket of homes just up from the Lake at Kings Beach. All the homes here sit on a meadow with tall pine trees, and roads dead end at the hiking trails. Winter and summer they are used and maintained by the forest service. It borders the Tahoe Rim trail which is a destination for some with endless hiking trails you can access from the house. Brockway Summit is well know for its path to Tahoe City, and Watson Lake is worth hiking too. You can walk in the summertime to our neighborhood park, North National Park. The park encompasses approximately 124 acres of predominantly active recreational activities. An 18 par fitness course, ball fields, Frisbee Golf, playground are just a few options. In the wintertime they offer a nice sledding hill for tubing and snow fun. Within 20 min to all the ski resorts on the North Shore, Northstar in the closest and newest village. The village was modeled after Beaver Creek Colorado…cobblestone sidewalks, copper roofs and a multitude of restaurants and shops that line the ‘square’. The square is an ice skating rink in the wintertime and roller skating in summer. The bon fire pits and outdoor bars are always there. Its a wonderful setting to hang out at especially at night.

Skiing here is family orientated with lots of ski programs for all ages, and a pristine mountain that keeps a good grasp on good snow conditions. If your staying a week, I highly recommend taking advantage of the other resorts also. A bonus is from the house you can drive the back way to Alpine and Squaw Valley which will eliminate the morning traffic through Tahoe City. Both mountains have tons of excellent skiing, and mountain biking in the summertime. MT Rose is where to go for open terrain, Diamond Peak for kids and an easy day skiing. Both are 15 min to the house. In the summertime, Kings Beach just down the street is a State Park with lifeguard and lake toys to rent. The beach is the highlight with wide sandy beaches, and views you have to experience to appreciate. There are also smaller beaches up and down the strip for reading a book, and dog beaches for your loved ones.

Brockway golf course in Kings Beach is a must for those that just want a good time. One of the top 9 hole courses in California, its known for its yardage and views. In the wintertime the course becomes a snowmobiling park. Tahoe City is 12 miles away and offers another nice city with shops, restaurants and outdoor venues. The Truckee River is our playground for fishing, river rafting, and bike baths to view all. A nice day is renting your bike in Tahoe City and riding to River Ranch. This is a river front restaurant with large outdoor patio at the entrance to Alpine Meadows. Here is where the river tours end and usually where the rafts have issues. You can spend the day here watching the rafters and enjoying their menu and drink. Between the location , amenities of the house, and your favorite family or friends, you’ll have a great home to stay at while getting a true Lake Tahoe experience.

Notes:
This house is set up for large families and/or groups of friends. It has an open large area upstairs and with 5 bedrooms that have kings, and 2 with queen, the adults are very comfortable. Kids have the 6 twins which room to spare. Quiet neighborhood with endless walking trails and easy access to the house, are used often by my tenants. The paths are maintained by the forestry service for cross country skiing in the winter time, walking in the summer time. You will definitely feel like you're in the mountains here, but 3 miles from the lake where all the restaurants and shops are. Summer time festivals are held at Kings Beach. Boat, ski, bike and board rentals are all available to rent here. Lake front restaurants and white sandy beaches go well together. This is a great vacation home to enjoy Lake Tahoe in.

Holiday Get Together in Lake Tahoe

  • 5 of 5

We had 11 people stay in this house for the long weekend and it was absolutely perfect! The views were incredible, and there were plenty of beds/rooms to accommodate everyone. We had plans to go into downtown Tahoe City over the weekend but the house was so great we decided just to spend all our time there. The owner is very accommodating and we will most certainly be booking a trip again here in the near future.

Gem is right!

  • 5 of 5

We LOVED staying at the Timberhaus! It was perfect for our group of 12 women who were there to attend a convention/conference. Super close to downtown, restaurants, shops and even explored the casinos. Lots of room - bedding and bathrooms!! Everything you would need here - towels, shampoo, bedding - all great! Awesome hot tub. Private and quiet for a wonderful retreat. Sandy is great to deal with easy going, friendly, and accommodating. If you are willing to respect the quiet neighborhood this is an awesome find for a group!

Wonderful house with so many extras!!!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this property last week with 2 other couples and had 5 kids total. First let me say, we rent vacation homes all of the time and I have never found a home with so many extras for their guests to use. Lots of throw blankets and extra pillows on the beds, SUPER COMFORTABLE bedding ( that was a treat for a vacation rental ), and lots of little stuff like coffee, candy, shampoo, lotion that really made us feel at home. I have always had to buy toilet paper, paper towels, soap, laundry detergent etc. and that was not the case with this property.

The home is stunning and the pictures do not do it justice. The 1st floor was kid central with an extra large bedroom that has a TV/DVD player and a door to the outside. The adults were able to enjoy the upstairs in peace while the kids were totally entertained downstairs. We also loved the meadow and open area around the house which we all spent time in making snowmen and the daily snow ball throw.

We loved this property and would absolutely recommend it to anyone who was staying in the area.

5 star place for a 3 star price - and save big on meals!

  • 5 of 5

Our 2nd time at this lovely home. VERY easy and quick to get to from Reno. Seems quicker to Alpine Meadows and Squaw East staying here than if we were in Tahoe City. Restaurants, shopping, casinos with GREAT LIVE BANDS!!! 5 minutes away. (Don't miss Log Cabin in Crystal Bay - one of the best meals of my life.) The master bedroom is huge and the sheets and covers and lighting make it an incredibly cozy nest. The 'extras' really make this place: bathrobes, lotions, tons of helpful brochures, magazines, kitchen equipment of all sorts, even spices and basics like canola oil, sugar, coffee - so your first morning you can fuel up! The views in this house are very memorable and really add to the ski chalet atmosphere. The bedrooms downstairs are beautifully appointed - and the 4 bathrooms accommodated us nicely! We've stayed here with another family and had a wonderful time. I'd love to stay here in the spring - it would be SO quiet and lovely with the large deck and seeing the wildflowers spring up!

Fireplace with comfortable space in mountain place

  • 5 of 5

Arriving to a mist-shrouded mountain did not diminish the comforts of this home, but quickly inspired use of the fireplace. Stocking feet were the norm as the home was Mary Poppins clean. Fresh towels, a huge bed that you stay amazingly warm and snug burrowed in the soft pillow top, and enough sink space for all that you brought and all that you forgot to bring. Easily used all the entertainment options, and enjoyed the tv in living are ( we ran out of time for the DVD). From a command post perspective, this home is perfectly situated. One can merely walk around the house and spot deer, squirrels, and hawks, or walk on the bike paths that are adjacent. Outstanding restaurants are a very short drive away, and major hiking is not far - you can look out the many windows and see a mountain just waiting for hikers. - lack of time prevented checking out the trails. Any kitchen items we needed were there, lots of glassware and every question I had was quickly answered by the owner. We were truly welcomed into their home - Mountain style! The photos of the home are exactly as we encountered (except for snow - that will be someone else's adventure...). We were there for less than a week, and that was not enough time for all we wanted to see around the lake. We will return (owners willing) to continue what we started, but with more down time to relax in the home (especially if one does climb every mountain).
