Beautiful, clean, well-maintained house in great location

  • 5 of 5

If you visit Volcanoe Natl Park, this is the place to stay. The house has a very nice garden with an outside grill, a great kitchen, nice bedrooms and even a chimney in the living room which makes for a perfect atmosphere in the afternoon.

We would definitively come here again - we stayed in several houses in Hawaii during our trip, and this was top end.

Don't miss Volcano National Park

  • 5 of 5

After spending a few days on the Kona side (although we were sad to leave) we headed to this lovely property with it's great location, just down the road from VNP. I wanted my adult children to get a feel of the whole island, as both sides offer some fantastic adventures. This property accommodated our party of 7 adults very well. It's located just off the highway past a golf course in a quiet neighborhood with the NV park entrance just a "very short" drive down highway. We had a few cookouts with the charcoal and lighting fluid provided, gathered in the large living room for a family night of watching "Big Brother" and felt the property offered everything one would need in a home away from home, except for groceries of course, and it wasn't until our last night we discovered "avoid" Walmart and head to Safeway, which is about a 45 minute ride in Hilo. The local stores did not offer much at all. We visited NVP 3 times during our stay. Once at night (I would recommend "avoiding" Uncle George's Lounge for dinner, food was not that good. We had planned to lunch at Volcano House but they closed at 2 and we spent to much time on Chain of Crater Rd and viewing the lava fields) and once at 5:30 am to watch the sunrise, complete with craft of coffee (craft was at the house). However we missed the sunrise but got to view the lava splattering up from the crater (make sure to use the FREE viewer they have there). Plus the viewing of the stars at night from the crater overlook is amazing. We drove past Hilo to view the 3 waterfalls. We decided Rainbow offered the best, hiked up to the top and enjoyed the fresh water pools above the falls and the lovely tree. There is also an amazing swimming area on Rt 19 just past the Hilo Port that looked amazingly beautiful and shallow, however we didn't have swim suits with us but we did see 2 sea turtles, one was quite large. We also drove to the Ahalanui Warm or Hot Pond and lava tree park. This is a lovely property with plenty to do within driving distance or just enjoying the property itself. Time on the Island went by way too quickly, there is so much to enjoy. Mahalo Cathy and Jeff for sharing your lovely property with my family and make the rental such as easy process.

great house near park entrance

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here! The house had all the amenities needed - well stocked kitchen, beach mats/towels/cooler, lots of space, and a lovely quiet neighborhood 5 minutes from park entrance- great for nighttime lava viewing. We all slept very well here. Easy access to town of Volcano, which has some great restaurants. Cathy & Jeff were extremely responsive and had some great suggestions for us both in the area and in Hilo. Thanks for a great stay!

AMAZING! A little piece of heaven.

  • 5 of 5

Wow!!! We started our trip in Honolulu with a big hotel fiasco. Not a great way to start a vacation. The last night in Honolulu 4 adults had to share one room. So, I was skeptical upon arriving in Volcano. Oh my goodness. When we arrived at the house I thought I reached a little piece of heaven on earth. Beautiful. Spotless. Roomy! We enjoyed sitting out back in the evening and reviewing our day. If you like to hike (and we do) VNP is a 5 min drive from the house, literally. One day I forgot something at the house and it was refreshing to know I could just run back and grab it. The rooms are spacious, the kitchen is well stocked along with plenty of towels. And it's quiet!!! It has everything you could possibly need or want. If you are a golfer, there is a course in the neighborhood. You will not be disappointed in any way with this property. Prior to the trip if I had questions about the area the owners were very responsive. I did not have any issues while we were there. I'm sure if I did they would have been just as responsive. Thank you so much for sharing your slice of heaven with others.

Beautiful home near the volcano!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at this beautiful home so close to Volcanoes National Park. The home is clean and very comfortable- it was perfect for our two couples and would be great for a family. Everything we needed was there- we loved the fireplace and family room. The rooms were spacious and it was great having two full baths! Thanks so much for sharing your home!

Private, spacious, and convenient to Volcano National Park

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 (2 parents, 3 young kids) had a wonderful time at this private, spacious, quiet, clean, comfortable, one-story house. The kids enjoyed the backyard, which was private and secluded (tall trees blocked views of neighboring houses so that gave lots of privacy). The neighborhood was quiet and not busy. The decor was tasteful and the samples of macademia nuts they left for us were a nice and delicious touch! Kitchen had appliances/utensils we needed for cooking and making coffee (there was even coffee available). There were floor pads in the closet that we used for our 2 year old on the floor (also saw a pack and play fold-up crib in the closet). This location was so close to Volcano National Park so we were able to go back at night to Kilauea Caldera to see the glow from the lava on many nights. We were also just down the street from Volcano Winery so we were able to go there one evening for wine tasting. Highly recommended! Thank you Jeff and Cathy!
