We are five close friends (Scott, Rachel, Sean, Lisa & Darcy) who all live in the San Francisco Bay Area. We all LOVE Kauai, and we fell in love with the Hanalei Bay Resort in particular. So when a condo came up for sale, we took the chance, and bought into paradise. There you have it...we hope you will consider sharing our new home away from home with us. Rachel and Lisa will help you with all of your booking needs. Mahalo!

Oh my...why indeed. The most beautiful resort in the most beautiful town, on the most beautiful island (in our humble opinion) in Hawaii...that's why.
The well landscaped pool and grounds at this resort are spectacular. The short walk (or chauffeured golf cart ride) to a beautiful beach, tennis and golf in close proximity, and the breathtaking sunsets from the fire pit area conspire to make this a truly memorable place to stay.
My name is Lisa, and I am one of the new co-owners. My husband and I recently stayed in the #5208 studio for nine nights. This was our first stay in this unit. Another couple was renting the other one bedroom side.
My first impression was that the room is a nice size and I liked the layout. I found that the four large drawers in the dresser were more than adequate accommodations for our clothing. The hooks outside the bathroom were a nice place to hang worn clothing that didn’t need to be laundered yet. We used the shower doors for hanging our wet swim suits. I stored our suitcases, one inside the other, beside the couch next to the sliding glass door. They were out of the way, and added another surface on which to rest a drink.
The bathroom itself is really roomy and nicely done with lots of storage, and cute tiles. There were plenty of towels and wash cloths, and some basic supplies (rubbing alcohol, peroxide) in the medicine chest. The water pressure could be better, but it wasn’t a huge issue.
My husband and I both enjoy cooking and we cooked all but one of our breakfasts and most of our dinners in the studio. The kitchenette, while small, had everything we needed. We felt there was plenty of room to store our groceries on the shelves with the dishes, and in the fridge. There were some staples like salt and pepper, and plastic wrap. We grilled our dinner in the outdoor cabana and used the toaster oven and hot plate for making side dishes. It was nice sitting out on the private lanai to eat our dinner.
Hanalei Bay Resort uses golf carts to get people, their groceries, and luggage to and from condos. Some of the carts are gas powered and a little noisy, but it is so nice not to have to make several trips to and from the car when checking in and out. The cart paths run throughout the resort and are especially convenient for a pick up at the beach after a long day in the sun and swimming in the ocean.
We were concerned about hearing noise from the one bedroom condo next door, but the only time we heard the couple staying there was when they first arrived with all of their luggage and groceries. One of the things I think both sides learn quickly is not to talk too loudly in the “hall zone”—where the lock off doors are, as sound can carry, and we both wanted our privacy. I have experienced this in the other condos I have stayed in at HBR, as well at the Marriott, so the same rules of consideration apply.
I hope this helps!
Beautiful grounds with lovely grassy knoll for beautiful sunsets. Pool very special and so many many plants..staff very friendly and helpful!!
Hanalei Bay Resort is fantastically beautiful. We loved both pools and the landscaping is beyond awesome. The condo was perfect for our needs. The bed was very comfy. I would have given my review 5 stars but we needed to ask for batteries for the AC remote and then for the TV remote. Also, the 2 times when we really wanted to use the shuttle service we got a constant busy signal. That was disappointing.
Laundry and fitness room were a bit of a struggle. Room was great. A/C unit needs cleaning. Rest of property was awesome. Thanks
The resort is just beyond beautiful with lush gardens and an amazing pool. The unit was cute, but did not feel "newly remodeled". The bed felt old, but the worst was the tub/shower. It was soooo old and worn, and so dirty it grossed me out completely. Plenty of black fungus/mold and seemed so not have had a thourogh cleaning in years. We would love to rent this unit again, but the bathroom made me second guess this.
On the positive side the unit has a well equipped kitchenette which was handy. Most of the dishes were dirty which is disgusting and I had to wash them before using. The somewhat larger kitchenette takes up space, so there is not much place to hang clothes.
The unit is also decorated nicely with calm colors.
The Lanai is wonderful and I like the palm trees in front of it for privacy even though they Are blocking some of the view. The view is avaliable all over Kauai so would rather be able to have some privacy on the Lanai.
The best feature of this unit is the location. Close to both pools, laundry and ice, tennis courts, both grill huts, sunset viewing area and beach path.
Would we return? Probably because it's reasonably priced, but the bathroom situasjon needs to be dealt with sooner rather than later.
6 night stay...Lovely view out to the mountain. Great access to beach and lovely pool. Very ordinary pizza/poor value at the restaurant .Very good service though.First night found the bed with linen which had crumbs under the duvet on the sheets, and sheets and pillows looked crumpled and unchanged. No dish towels provided until we requested them.Pillow cases didn't fit the king size pillows. We called for fresh linen. Bed very comfortable. Kitchen was inadequate. No kettle or toaster. Shower was in the bath. We would return to Hanalei Bay resort but not to this unit as not big enough or well equipped kitchen.
We loved our stay at the Hanalei Bay Resort condo. The condo was spacious and well equipped with everything we needed for the week. We really enjoyed it here would definitely recommend!
