Overview

About the property

3 bedroom, 2 bath, pet-friendly, steps to the water. 600 square foot dock!

This original Lake Lure cabin was built in the 1950's. We purchased the property in December of 2014 and have been renovating and updating this charming cabin. An open living room, kitchen, and dining area gives your family the perfect hang out space after a day on the water. The home has three bedrooms and two baths with a king in master, queen in second bedroom, and two twins/double bed in the third bedroom.

Many homes in Lake Lure have countless stairs to the home and/or the water. This cabin is mere steps from the water and is perfect for families with children or older family members. Reserve today and enjoy the beautiful view this summer!

About Courtney Youngblood

We are both from Georgia, but have lived in the North Carolina mountains for more than ten years. It has been a dream of ours to have a lakefront home on this stunning mountain lake since we first visited years ago. We have rented lake homes on Lake Lure for years and finally decided to make our favorite vacation spot more permanent! We wanted to have a pet friendly rental because we know dogs can be part of the family too! Our dog, Hemingway, loves the lake as much as we do.

Courtney Youngblood purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Courtney Youngblood chose Sunset Cove

Watch the sunset over the mountains from this property. True Lake Lure Lakefront with a gentle walk to the water. This winter, a large 600 square foot deck/dock and a 2nd bathroom were built. Brand new furniture completed the Happy Heron's remodel!

What makes this cabin unique

Lakefront, Sunsets Views, Pet-Friendly, Large kitchen and Living area.

The property was in great condition!

  • 5 of 5

This is the most wonderful lake home that I have ever stayed in. The home was charming,

warm and inviting. The views from the lake home and the dock were absolutely majestic.

I felt like I was on "Golden Pond" and I fully expected to see Henry Fonda and Katherine

Hepburn show up at any moment to greet me in person. This home is a "must stay in"

type of home and I would recommend it as a five star rental to anyone. I can't wait to go

back again next year. I don't think that I could ever find a lake home to rent better than this one!

Charming wonderful cottage with gorgeous views

  • 5 of 5

It was an incredible mini-holiday for wife, daughter (7), son (4), dog and I. The cabin is up to date and there was plenty of room for all. The kids absolutely loved the bunk beds and the short amount of stairs to the boat house dock, from which we must have spent over 20 hours fishing. The cabin was clean and well maintained, so much so my wife opined that if we were to buy a cabin we should buy this one. As usual, we rented a pontoon boat and had a great day on the lake, hitting up Larkin's and the ice cream shop at the North Shore Beach Cabana.

Simply amazing...the perfect place to relax and spend time with family

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough about this amazing breathtakingly beautiful place. The house is perfect - clean and up to date - has everything you need, very well stocked! We even enjoyed some board games! My kids are 5 and 7 and the house was exactly what we needed! The view is one that's hard to leave and we had such a great week. There were ducks and ducklings that my kids woke up every morning and fed - we swam in the lake at least once a day and enjoyed the kayak and floats so much. We were able to have a lot of new adventures that were so close to the house - we played Footgolf at lake lure golf club (5 min from house) - its soccer on the golf course! My kids loved it and we went zip lining at Canopy Ridge (10 min away) - my kids favorite for sure. We also climbed Chimney Rock (15 min away) and hiked Hickory Nut Falls and went to Dupont State park (about 45 min away) and hiked Hooker falls and Triple Falls and went out to Little Bradley falls (about 35 min away) and that was a great 2 mile hike to a beautiful water fall! There is so much to do in the surrounding areas and in town - it was a perfect vacation for us and our favorite was playing at the dock and in the lake ( and my salty girl found a love of fresh water!) - what a treasure this house is and Courtney is so easy to work with - Thank you for a wonderful week! I know we will be back again! Best Summer ever!

Relaxing week in a wonderful location. This cabin was a great getaway for our family.

  • 5 of 5

This cabin has one of the best views on Lake Lure. Sunset Cove provided a safe haven to swim, float, paddle and just be lazy. The owners have made a very quaint hideaway for anyone "wanting to get away from it all". The house is ideally located and the dock is generous in size. We enjoyed coffee in the morning on the porch, lunch on the dock and dinner overlooking the lake from the dining area inside. Our family brought kayaks and floats but really didn't need to because the property comes well stocked with such things. Lake Lure is located in a hilly area and many properties have lots of stairs to get from cabin to the lake. Not so with with this place. The lake is close and access is easy. We made day trips into Chimney Rock and Asheville which are close by. This was our first trip to Lake Lure and we feel fortunate to have gotten to stay at The Happy Heron. Bring a good book and be sure to feed the mallards.
