About Danny Wyatt
The back to the land movement was the genesis of Myra’s Cottage. Ginny and Danny bought Owl Holler from Gilbert and Nita Stackhouse in 1978. Gilbert was the grandson of Amos Stackhouse who moved to Madison County after visiting Warm Springs (now Hot Springs) and falling in love with the mountains. Aiming to live simply, we embraced the mountain culture that honors the land. We learned to fix it, make do, or do without. We harvested Hemlock trees from our land and built our house. We planted trees and birthed a son. We developed organic, sustainable gardens. We continue to garden extensively and enjoy sharing vegetables, berries & flowers with our guests.

Why Danny Wyatt chose Marshall
Danny’s mother, Myra, joined us in 1986. She had become a Canadian after a three day romance with Louis Hildebrandt, her second marriage, and they lived near Calgary until his unexpected death. Danny built her a house down the holler where she lived until 2009. Myra was an amazing woman and we honor her memory by sharing her cottage with you.
What makes this Cottage unique
Wonderful solitude in the midst of Mother Nature. Secluded yet within 12 minutes of Hot Springs or Marshall. Great one mile hikes to either the French Broad River or the knoll with spectacular views of Bluff Mountain and the Spring Creek watershed.

Myra's Cottage was perfect for our family! Hiking trails on the property, a creek flowing right outside, and the cottage was so clean and well maintained! The kids loved the chocolate treats and fruit left for us. We hope to come back again in warmer weather!
Peaceful relaxing cabin on a beautiful property! All the comforts of home in a delightful tastefully furnished home!
We loved it!

Just a lot of little touches that made the stay very welcoming. Nice place. Beautiful area.
Myra's Cottage is in a gorgeous location, fully stocked with anything you would need, and hosted by incredibly kind folks. Anyone would have a relaxing visit here. The surrounding hikes are lovely, the kids loved the ping pong table, and there is so much to do in the area.
Near historic Marshall, where you can explore the local shops downtown, including a coffee shop with free live Blue Grass music on Thursday nights, artist studios, and local craft shops. Also near the town of Hot Springs, which was voted the "Best Mountain Town" in 2013 by Outdoor Magazine. Hot Springs has multiple restaurants, outdoor outfitters, numerous festivals, and the Hot Springs Spa with some of the only hot springs in the East. The Appalachian Trail runs right down main street. The French Broad River offers rafting, kayaking, swimming and fishing. The Laurel River is a prime trout stream.
