Beautiful Property, Perfectly Suited for Large Family Reunion
This was one of the most beautiful homes we've stayed in and was perfect for my extended family (three generations) to come together for Easter weekend. Everything in the house was perfect for our visit. The kitchen was fully loaded with every possible appliance, gadget or pot we could need. Would love to come back.
Wade and his wife were so welcoming and friendly. They were so genuine!!!
The cabin was absolutely breath taking!!! The views were amazing, and the cabin was extremely clean!!! Its also in a beautiful neighborhood. I would recommend this cabin to anyone!! When ever we come back to north carolina this is where we will be staying. There are also plenty of fine china to cook on, the kitchen is huge and we felt like gourmet chefs!!! It was a wonderful experience and the whole family enjoyed themselves!! Thank you for such a wonderful experience!!! We will never forget you all!!
It was so wonderful to have you and all your family ! Thank you for being with us . We cannot wait to have you back ! Next time I will not miss getting in the picture .
Love to each of you
Beautiful and welcoming home!
The home was well stocked and very clean. It was effortless to come with a large group - everything we needed was already there. We found this to be a great retreat for our group of 13 and in a great area. Absolutely beautiful house - just like the photos! The owners were welcoming and helpful. Would definitely stay again, and we loved our stay!
Beautiful setting, Beautiful home
Our family of 15, which includes eight grandchildren, spent Christmas at the Burn’s lovely home. Susie had decorated the house for the holidays, which we all appreciated and enjoyed. The kitchen was perfectly stocked with every item one could need, and many meals were shared around the long dining table that comfortably seated all of us.
Susie was a pleasure to work with, and promptly responded to any emails.
I would enthusiastically recommend this property !
Best Family Reunion location in Montreat!
We have been spending Thanksgivings at Montreat since 2003. We were looking for a gathering spot for our reunion and we certainly found it at the beautiful Burns Treetop Lodge. We loved this spacious, comfortable home with the beautiful views from its oversized windows, the well equipped gourmet kitchen with a 2nd fridge (and lots of empty shelves that we used) in the pantry and the dishwasher drawer for glassware and another dishwasher for everything else, and all the appliances, dishes, glasses, etc. one could hope for. Stepping out the french doors from the back of the kitchen is a large screened porch with a dining and seating area and since the weather was so nice, we actually used it. There is a pretty view from the sitting area, another small porch where the grill is located, and the table was where the annual gingerbread house was assembled. From the porch, you can access the parking area out front and we easily parked 5 cars there. We were all happy with the home's layout i.e. common areas were separated from the bedrooms so we could all be together yet could have our privacy when needed. Wade has an interesting collection of pictures lining the hall - we were impressed with the history they told - and plenty of books too on the mid level. Their home is architecturally beautiful, and Susie & Wade are so warm, hospitable and attentive - the perfect hosts. We highly recommend their lovely Treetop Lodge!
Beautiful home and very well taken care of!
This property was beyond our expectations! We had a group of 5 couples staying here for a wedding and this was the perfect place. Close to trails for hiking, near a quaint town with shopping and dining, and close to highway for easy access to Asheville. Wade and Susie were very easy to work with and we enjoyed the stories of the history spread throughout this home as Wade personally welcomed us upon arriving. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Major metropolitan amenities and services are found in Asheville. Downtown Asheville is 19 miles from our home. Asheville is one of Americas most popular vacation destinations for Arts, Music , Custom Breweries , and home of The Biltmore Estate, Black Mountain is 2 miles from our home. Filled with dozens of local restaurants with great food , incredible shopping , and weekly tailgate markets in the summer, fall seasons. Montreat was established 115 years ago as a church retreat with wooden platforms covered with tents for housing and soon became a Presbyterian Conference Center. Many of the houses originally had no heat and were only for seasonal occupancy. Today it remains an intimate community with over one half of the 500 homes only occasionally occupied in the off season. The landmass of the Montreat community, as a whole, has 4,000 acres of property. The conference center permanently protected 2,500 acres of this, which is now a dedicated wilderness area registered in the NC Registry of National Heritage Areas, resulting in more than 40 miles of hiking trails. Montreat is in a mountain cove surrounded on 3 and 1/2 sides by 175,000 acres of protected forests including the eastern area of the Pisgah National Forest. Montreat has year round playgrounds w/ streams running through them, a small lake, fishing and unlimited hiking opportunities.
