Welcome to our Kiahuna property, unit #177. This unit is actually owned by parents, Bill and Carol McDade (This listing is managed by myself, their daughter, Karen). They are the original owners of the unit and have taken very special pride in their ownership over the years, and love sharing it with others.
The below information is from my parents heart and soul regarding this very special place.

"We have always lived in proximity to the ocean. First in Seattle, Washington and now for some 50 years in San Diego, California. Salt air and ocean breezes have been a part of our entire life and our children and grandchildren have embraced this love also.

We never tire of visiting Kauai and making 'first tracks' on the sandy beach in the morning, playing games with our family on the front lawn and swimming in the warm Hawaiian waters. Evenings are just as special as we watch the sunset from the lawn and beach with a special beverage or while eating by candlelight on our lanai as the moon beams shine on the neighboring palm trees.

Kiahuna means 'special place' and we think our unit will become a special place for you and your family too."

We first visited Poipu Beach, Kauai in the 1960s and fell in love with the beauty of the Island and the wonderful safe beaches for our children to play on and swim and most of all the relaxing family atmosphere that permeates throughout the Kiahuna Plantation. It has the beauty and ambience of 'old Hawaii', safe beaches and a relaxing family atmosphere unlike any place we had ever visited.

We purchased our unit #177 in 1980 and have been returning ever since with our children and now our grandchildren. We have celebrated many special family birthdays and weddings in this very special place.

Our unit is an upstairs, corner unit cooled by the ever present trade winds, and fronts the large expanse of lawn just behind the beach. It has a full ocean view through the palm trees and is only 50 yards to the sandy beach. It is within walking distance to several restaurants and shops and the swimming pool and tennis court facilities.

Kiahuna is located on the South shore of Kauai on Poipu Beach. This side of the island has more sunshine and warm days than other parts of the Island. In fact the locals always say, 'It's always sunny on the South side!'

Poipu Beach consists of some 5 separate coves of beach each suited to different forms of water activity including body surfing and boogie boarding, snorkeling, and quiet shallow water for small children. The cove in front of Kiahuna Plantation is the largest and is great for swimming, snorkeling, jumping the waves and taking surfing lessons. Of course you can also just sit on the beach with a good book and work on your tan! There is something for everyone here.
