Historic property and great location ideal for family gathering

  • 4 of 5

The Crocker Tavern made the ideal setting for our 3-generation family reunion with ages from 5 to 70s. We all loved this place! Comfortable beds, lots of places to gather indoors and out in small groups for conversations, well-equipped kitchen and grill for a family that likes to cook. The barn was a terrific setting for birthday celebrations, ping pong games and kids craft projects. Great space in yard for kids to run around and adults to play bocce. Two-block walk to charming village with coffee shop, market, places to eat, little shops and special events like craft shows. Easy walk to beach and harbor with whale-watching tours. This is a comfortable, homey place -- not elegant but steeped in history. Kids loved the stories of ghosts and hunting for sword slash in beam. And we appreciated modern conveniences -- new washer/drier, wifi, microwave. Good parking. If owners wanted to kick it up a notch, a little more attention to yard (pruning, weeding) would make a big difference. And get a new coffee maker.

Historic Experience in Beautiful Cape Cod

  • 5 of 5

I booked the inn for a 5 day artist workshop. My 7 clients loved the inn and the convenience/walkability to the village as they didn't have a car. All were from California and got a great sense of the history of Barnstable and our ancestors. They loved the gardens and commented how quiet the area was at night. A good sleep! We used the barn as our morning meeting and gathering and were very grateful for the preliminary setup the inn staff did for us. A couple of minor issues (the coffee maker gave out and a circuit blew the first night in half the down stairs area the property manager came right out and immediately dealt with. All my clients were comfortable with the bedrooms and home. They never felt put out and commented the bathrooms were fine. Will definitely book again and recommend. Thank you for making my workshop a success!

Fun Filled Long Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Just spent a Long Weekend at the Crocker Tavern House with my cousins. It is a great place to stay with a lot of charm and a fantastic location. It was a short walk into town which has several great restaurants and a very nice local grocery market. The house had everything that we needed and the historic significance of the house made it a very interesting place to stay.

Fantastic home

Check-in was easy and the house was perfect for our group. The dining room was large enough to accommodate all 9 of us with room to spare.

Wonderful historical house with lots of room

  • 5 of 5

We gathered with friends for one week. Plenty of room so everyone had their own space. We loved that each bedroom had its own air conditioner. The kitchen was nice with plenty of dishes and cookware. We could have used more room to store our food. We loved the outdoor spaces and the barn. Our group loved to walk into town for coffee or to pick up items at the market. Should we return to Cape Cod, I would love to stay there again!

rental is adequate for large groups but lacked modern conviences.

  • 2 of 5

good locations, adequate parking, barn was useful but not clean. Rooms were large and eating arrangements were good. The quality of the towels was poor and so was the quantitiy. Some bathrooms were not convient to their bedrooms. The back door and the back patio were almost unaccessable do to the overgrown foliage.

The Mid-Cape features many beautiful beaches, including warm-water beaches along Nantucket Sound, e.g., Kalmus Beach in Hyannis, which gets its name from one of the inventors of Technicolor, Herbert Kalmus. This popular windsurfing destination was bequeathed to the town of Barnstable by Dr. Kalmus on condition that it not be developed, possibly one of the first instances of open-space preservation in the US. The Mid-Cape is also the commercial and industrial center of the region. There are seven villages in Barnstable, including Barnstable Village, Centerville, Cotuit, Hyannis, Marstons Mills, Osterville, and West Barnstable, as well as several smaller hamlets that are incorporated into their larger neighbors (e.g. Craigville, Cummaquid, Hyannis Port, Santuit, Wianno, and others).[14] The villages of Yarmouth are South Yarmouth, West Yarmouth and Yarmouth Port. There are five villages in Dennis, including North Dennis, East Dennis, West Dennis, Dennis Port, and South Dennis.[15]
