Overview

About the property

2 bedroom, 1 bathroom

The Cottage is small and rustic, but has all the necessities to enjoy your time in Leadville!

There are two bedrooms and one bathroom, equipped with a washer and dryer. There's a small kitchen and dining area for prepping meals or enjoying some local take out. It's just a few minute's walk to all the downtown activities and races. A perfect base camp for hiking, fishing, skiing, and racing!

Charlie's Cottage is our "home away from home." The Cottage is just the kind of place my father, Charlie, would have enjoyed in his retirement. There's a nice front porch and a small fenced back yard with a grill.

We have a Bloodhound puppy, and we know how important it is to bring your furry family member(s) along on adventures. There will be an additional cleaning fee if we do allow you to bring your dog; however, this must be agreed to ahead of time.

About Katherine

We moved to Colorado in 2010, "sight unseen" as the result of an internet quiz promising to "find our spot." Without a doubt this is the best decision we've made for our family. We love camping, hiking, and being outside.

Katherine purchased this cottage in 2016

Why Katherine chose Leadville

The Cottage previously belonged to friends of ours. We'd stayed there several times and used The Cottage for a basecamp when hiking local 14ers. When our friends told us they were selling the property, we knew we had to have it. "Charlie" was my father's nickname. Unfortunately, he was unable to properly enjoy retirement, but I know he would have loved The Cottage.

What makes this cottage unique

Charlie's Cottage is close to everything you'll want to do in Leadville. It's a short drive to skiing, 14er trailheads, lakes, etc. And it's just a few minute's walk to down-town. It's an old miner's cottage, but has been updated. The Cottage is small and cozy; a perfect little getaway.

Cozy and convenient location

  • 5 of 5

This is a charming, cozy cottage in a great location for walking to downtown Leadville and skiing at Cooper. We have stayed here for spring break for 2 years now and are already planning our next stay. The cottage is small, but we had plenty of room with 2 adults, 3 kids, and 2 dogs. The cottage has everything you need to be comfortable (even sleds for the kids!) and cook good meals. There is a fenced backyard and a nice walking path at the end of the street, making it perfect for the dogs. Katherine is great to work with and very responsive. She is friendly and answers questions quickly. We will definitely be looking for another opportunity to stay here!

As advertised, no surprises.

  • 5 of 5

My 6 year old son and I stayed in this cottage for a quick weekend ski trip in February. We are both pretty low maintenance, so really just needed hot water, warm bed and WiFi. This place was way more than that! Great location and had everything that we needed. It is a very cool cottage that I imagine has quite a story, as it is evident that it has been added onto a couple of times over the years. I would not have any issie with staying here again.

Great owner and location but a bit small

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our first vacation in Leadville! There is so much to do/see in this unique little town. The house was fine. Pros: easy parking for two cars, easy to find, easy to get to Ski Copper & restaurants down town, quiet location. Cons: We felt that I was a bit small for us. The ceilings in the back part of house (where two of the three beds are located) wasn’t great for the taller guests. The back door was also very short and low roof outside hurt when you bumped your head.

The inside was VERY stocked even with a crock pot. I wish there had been A better configuration with the dining table. No dishwasher, either :(

It’s a great house for a quick or if you accustomed to or looking for a downsized living. Don’t rule this place out because of size, if location/easbility is important. We didn’t have pet but this place is pet friendly. I didn’t notice a bunch of hair or have a “pet” odor, either, which was refreshing.

Had a very wonderful time here. Great location as it was close to restaurants, store, and ski resort. Small but very comfortable, clean, and charming. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this location to anyone.
