Just imagine . . .
Your arrival at Puamana Townhomes is fully celebrated, yet largely uneventful - just the way a relaxing vacation should be. Park right outside, gather your things and open the etched glass door into your next favorite place. This unique, three-story island rental with wifi sleeps ten in comfort.
Four bedrooms and two bathrooms take up two floors of this quiet, non-smoking center unit. Coast into the first level with its full kitchen, large living room and dining room, half bath, washer/dryer, and backyard lanai with propane grill and garden view. Step aside, and let the kids upstairs to explore their open plan loft on the top floor. They get to fight over two twin beds, one full bed, and a couch in the spacious room, not to mention the ocean view!
On the second floor, you have your choice of three bedrooms. Two king beds and one queen await your well-earned relaxation time. The large master bedroom includes an en suite. The bright, medium-sized kitchen was remodeled in 2016. Dark granite counters and island frame the space for food prep. The oven, microwave, mid-size refrigerator, and dishwasher are ready and waiting. As you leave the kitchen and dining area and move right into the living room. This space is great for family gatherings, too.
Outside on the lanai, there is a glass-topped table with seating for six. It's just perfect for playing cards and having drinks and pupus into the late evening. When you sit at the table in the afternoon, if the sun is too bright for your comfort, roll down the weighted curtain to create a shaded outdoor escape. For your convenience, the owners have left you beach chairs, beach umbrellas, coolers, boogie boards, sand toys, and life jackets. Also on hand are tennis racquets and balls for use on the community court, badminton racquets and birdies to bat about the epic lawns.
You can feel confident that your comfort is of the utmost importance, here. One of the most valuable aspects of your rental are the responsive caretakers: Kevin and Kelly! Brimming with aloha, these two island experts will be ready to meet you when you arrive in Puamana. As time goes on, if you need something that isn't present already, this lovely local couple is just a tropical text away.
When it comes to safety, the entire 30 acres of this gated community is patrolled by a security guard, but this specific unit goes a few steps further. Security cameras installed at the front and back doors record all goings-on and produce a live feed to help keep you, your family, and your belongings safe.
WHY PUAMANA IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!
If you're looking for the right place to stay on Maui, consider Puamana Community Townhomes. The beauty of leaving your neighborhood, flying to this island, and staying in Puamana is that you end up somewhere new that also feels like home.
The folks who live in this spacious, secure, 30-acre complex are a peaceful mix of residents and visitors. Those you meet are likely to smile and nod, even if they've never seen you before, and then once they've seen you, you'll feel like family!
Your quiet, clean townhouse will give you the private relaxation you crave, but the gorgeous common areas are what really set Puamana apart. Once you're ready to venture out of your personal honeymoon suite, you will love exploring together and taking full advantage of the amenities. (And if you’re here for a wedding or a family trip with the kids tagging along, so much the better!)
The common areas are elegant, unique, and honestly delightful. When was the last time you swam in a pool that didn't just overlook the ocean but seemed to be a part of it? One of Puamana's three pools is reserved for quiet rest and relaxation, and it sits literally on the edge of the sea. As you cut through the silent water, watch the ocean waves hit the shore just below, and take in the view of the islands across the channel, you may feel pleasantly transformed.
Puamana's larger pools, the Dolphin Pool and the Mountain Pool, are a bit inland. Everyone is welcome to splash and play here! The Dolphin Pool is accessible to all abilities, too; once you give prior notice to the manager, a portable poolside lift can bring you into the water with ease. Children can shout, run, and climb off some energy on the small play structure right next to these two pools. One of you can watch the little ones play, and another can lie back and float, running supervisory interference inside the chain-link fence. Maybe . . . flip a coin?
While spending time at Puamana, you can host a dinner party in the oceanfront gazebo, hit some balls on the tennis court, throw a frisbee on the expansive lawns, and work out in the exercise room (or at least consider it; this is a vacation, after all!). If you'd prefer ocean spray on your face and sand between your toes, Puamana's shoreline invites exploration. Pick your way among coral rubble, stones, and driftwood, and watch for the whales in winter while gazing at the boats moored offshore. Whatever you choose to do, remember - you're on island time!
Lahaina's world-renowned Front Street is an experience in itself that can easily last two days. Unique art galleries showcase strange and wonderful pieces alongside Picasso and Renoir. There are more fun shops than even the most seasoned shoppers can handle, though you're welcome to try and get back to us. Hawaiian history and culture buffs will love visiting the museums, watching the hula shows, and discovering the sites along the Lahaina Historical Trail. And we haven't even gotten to the food, yet!
Front Street offers everything from delicate, locally-caught fish dishes to delicious calzones. You'll also find Vietnamese, Mexican, Thai, and Indian restaurants, along with a late-night spot specializing in comfort food. Sip an assortment of smooth cocktails, beer, and wine from your table overlooking the rolling waves, and don't forget the live entertainment - always in full swing at dinner time! The Puamana Community offers you a feeling of home while you are on vacation. You can delight in the pools, bask in the Clubhouse, and relish your proximity to snorkeling, surfing, paddleboarding, sightseeing, shopping, live entertainment, and restaurants.

About David Smyth
Leanne and I had our honeymoon on Maui in 1986. We stayed in Kihei and like Maui so much that we came back every year for one month in the summer. We brought each of our three daughters here and over time after a career change we started to come up to three times per year. For the first nine years we stayed in Kihei. We often found ourselves driving to Lahaina and spending the afternoon there due to the often windy conditions in Kihei. We would frequently drive past this beautiful community that was on the ocean and wished we could stay there. One day we decided to drive in and security allowed us to briefly look around and collect a list of owners who rent out their Townhouse. We came over with my parents and our first daughter who was two years old at the time and have been coming back to the Puamana ever since. Our children learned to swim, surf, snorkel, kayak, scuba and paddle board here. If you total all of our vacation time in Maui it adds up to over six years. We were always looking to purchase here and in 2015 an opportunity came along that was too good to pass on.

Why David Smyth chose Lahaina
We chose Puamana because it is quiet and we chose this unit because of its. It is one of the largest units in the Puamana. Its third story is full height and has an incredible ocean view. The unit also has amazing storage and a rare attached carport that makes unloading groceries and luggage much easier. We live in Canada and due to our climate we live much of the winter indoors and we value living space. This unit provides excellent space and location. We have upgraded the unit by replacing all the floors, ceiling fans, screens, air conditioners, appliances, kitchen counters and cabinets, we installed a huge 120 gallon solar water heater, we have occupancy sensors on the ACs, we stripped the lanai tile and put on non-slip surfacing, heat filmed the third floor windows, all new curtains, all new paint, replaced almost all the furniture and put in new beds, upgraded the electrical and plumbing. We put in a full size front load washer and dryer rather than use those tiny noisy apartment units. Our unit gives 10 people a bed to sleep in (all real beds, no hide-a-beds, sofa-beds or air-beds). The outdoor heated shower is fabulous and allows everyone a chance to clean themselves off before coming in.
What makes this Townhome unique
The benefits are several! First the weather in Lahaina is often the best on the Island, second there is much less wind here because the West Maui Mountains block the trade winds, third the ocean in front is excellent for ocean activities, the pools at Puamana are large rectangular ones with two being 40 feet long and the one on the ocean being 60 feet long. The one on the ocean is unique because the ocean splashes on the side of the pool and it is the only one Maui that I am aware of that is on the ocean. Last the Puamana has incredible green space for its residents. I read where it has the most green space of any resort location on Maui. We pick Mangoes in season and eat limes and bananas off the trees. The one warning to potential renters of our unit is, "After you come here you may never want to go anywhere else."

Loved the property. The house itself was a bit dated and needed some TLC
We loved the area and all the properties were very well taken care of. Having 3 pools and the beach so close was a welcome bonus. Liked being able to walk to town. The clubhouse was so lovely and wished we could have used it more. The house needed some updates. Having 9 people in the home made two full baths a bit difficult at times. Liked having the washer and dryer.
The complex is delightful with wonderful amenities.
The home itself is quite dated, but comfortable. There were ample towels, dishes and comfortable beds. Our two grandchildren loved sharing the loft. Hot water is hard to come by. You have to run the water for a long time before it gets hot enough to shower or run the dishwasher. (I hate to waste water, so this really bugged me.) It is in a great location and we felt very safe. I would not recommend it for young children as the steps are "open" and railings are wobbly. We really did enjoy our stay here.
Nice townhouse in Lahaina
We spent 3 nights is this lovely townhouse, which was easily able to accommodate 7 adults and one baby. Had AC issue in one BR at check-in that was handled immediately.
We did accidentally leave a very sentimental piece of jewelry in the home at check-out and called the owner - who did go to the home to try and locate for us. Unfortunately, it was not there any longer. So while the outcome was disappointing, the owner did his best to investigate on our behalf.
Overall, a ice bone in a gat d community.
Great family vacation home
The property was exactly as presented. It was very comfortable for our extended family of 10. The little ones loved the pools and the complex location was close to Lahaina for activities.
Great location close to Laihana and condo/townhouse has a great layout
Everything went very nicely at the condo unit from checking in to everything you need is there. Would easily stay there again.
Great place. Quiet. All the amenities.
We enjoyed our visit. We simply wish we had more time. Very receptive owners and managers. The community has wonderful pools and beach access that require at least 2 weeks to take full advantage of the this great getaway!
