'Cottage in the Forest'

This beautiful little cottage is tucked into a small forest, with a view of the Hanalei Mountains. Where you will awaken each morning to the symphony of sounds and sights of a peaceful rural mountain setting.

Our three and a half Acre Property is located at the end of a cul-de-sac.

Enjoy the endlessly fascinating interaction and play of the resident birds and animals. Chickens, Ducks, Peacocks, Goats, Dogs, Cats and Horses, all co-exist on our property and provide hours of entertainment.

All this is only a five minute drive to beautiful Kalihiwai Bay, where Kalihiwai River enters the ocean. It is our favorite beach, great for boogie boarding and surfing. Also a five minute drive takes you to Anini Beach, a very long beach with a double reef, where you can spend your days: Wind Surfing, Kayaking, Sailing or just enjoying the Ocean environment. Anini also has a large Beach Park.

You will be only 15 minutes from the world famous Hanalei Bay and the Princeville Resort, where you will find the 27 hole Makai Golf Course, and the Princeville Shopping Center. There are two Horse Riding Stables very near by, and the North Shore boasts many hiking trails.

The accommodations are light, airy and beautifully furnished. The claw foot tub in the bathroom is especially charming and looks out a corner picture window on to a private garden.

We love it here and love sharing the unique charm and quiet country atmosphere. Best of all, we are only minutes from some of the best beaches in the world.

Truly magical

  • 5 of 5

Hospitable, beautiful, easy, fun, magical. This place is a gem. It made our vacation so special. We stayed at a resort for three days and then here for three days and staying here is just such a quiet, fun experience.

Generally, it has everything you want in a house rental, plus everything you might've forgotten. It is closely located next to different fun areas to visit: our favorites, Princeville and Hanalei Bay. There are so many different animals at the cottage- peacocks, horses, dogs, a goat, chickens. The outdoor shower and indoor bathtub are really fun. Even the drive on the street to the property is beautiful. They provide everything we found ourselves needing- coolers, cooking appliances, towels. The flowers and plant life surround the cottage, creating privacy.

A few concerns I had going in- mosquitos and no air conditioning. I am sensitive when it comes to both and I ended up with two mosquito bites the entire time on the property. The lack of air conditioning wasn't an issue at all. Don't let either of these stop you from visiting.

Can't wait to return to this well-run and special spot. <3

Property is perfectly located -- quiet (minus chickens).

  • 4 of 5

The property is very well described-- it has a kitchen that is well stocked for cooking with electrical appliances. Hosts are great-- friendly and responsible. The peacocks and nene woke us every morning and helped us to make the most of our time there.

Susan was very accommodating. She brought us extra fans for the house and made us feel very welcome. The property is gorgeous! The goat Milk was the sweetest! We also got to see peacocks up close and that was amazing! The only thing I wish was different was the length of our stay! ( Only there 3 nights 😕)

Beautiful Quaint cottage in the heart of the best area

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time at the cottage. Susan was a great host!. We had our privacy and it was just perfect for us. It was tucked away for completely privacy. The outdoor shower with hot water was amazing as was the tub. The high ceilings really made it feel even more spacious. You have all the essentials you need there. Towels, snorkel gear, hiking sticks, chairs. The kitchen is fully equipped. If you love nature this is for you. Milk the goat was an added bonus we loved feeding him. The area itself is spectacular. To us the North shore was the best part of the island. Less touristy and more rugid beauty. We thank you Susan for a beautiful stay and all of your tips and places to check out!
