Along with an orchard and large pastures the property also is surrounded by vineyards on two sides. With its address on prestigious Olivet Road, you will be within minutes of 7 award winning wineries. You are in the heart of the famous Russian River Valley, known for the ever popular Pinot Noir.
Just a short 10 minute trip to Sebastopol, 20 minutes to Guerneville and the Armstrong Redwood Forest and 40 minutes to Bodega Bay. Restaurants dot the countryside with gourmet menus typical of this Northern California paradise. Enjoy the country living but drive 15 minutes to be in either the heart of downtown Santa Rosa with it's many shops or travel 20 minutes to Healdsburg with it's quaint character and shop lined town square.

Come Enjoy the Oaks of Olivet
Year Purchased: 2004
Why the Owner Chose Santa Rosa
We fell in love in San Francisco and then visited wine country. This area was an annual anniversary trip for us after we married. The annual trips turned into quarterly visits to Sonoma and Napa. We truely fell for Sonoma and decided to purchase and make a plan to move here to live full time. Our 10 year plan has now come to fruition. We really love the friendly people in the area and the ease of life in general. The local fresh produce is also a real plus.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
We have 7 award winning wineries on our road. Our property has a full fruit orchard that we share with our guests. We currently have peach, pear, plum, apple, fig and apricots.
Owner's Map of Santa Rosa
We have enjoyed the Oaks of Olivet since 2004 as visitors to Sonoma County. In July of 2010 we made the move from Minnesota to live here full time. We are affordable housing developers and work from our home office. We are on site to make sure our guests have everything they need, but understand that guests call the shots on how much privacy is necessary.

We had a great time at the Oaks ... nice house, wonderful hosts, fun "pets", beautiful grounds. Perfect location for getting around the area. All we needed to bring was a bag of groceries and our clothes. Thanks for everything -- the hospitality, the terrific place to stay, the whole deal!
Owner response:Donna, Thank you very much for your generous review. It means very much to us to have another VRBO owner review our Oaks of Olivet! If we are ever in your area we will look you up! Thank you, Michelle

We visited this lovely property in early July. The area is simply gorgeous and serene--quiet and private. The cottage was larger than I expected and filled with striking and pleasurable elements to look at, read, and listen to. The cottage was clean and completely stocked with bed and bath linens, kitchen utensils, and, much to my surprise and delight, a hair dryer and clothes iron (because I prefer to not travel with these items). Our visit was so enjoyable because the cottage was beyond comfortable and our hosts were extremely welcoming. I could tell immediately that the owners put a lot of love and attention into creating this vacation home and experience for their guests. Our hosts were also wonderful because they were friendly and kind and very knowledgeable regarding which vineyards to visit, where to eat a fabulous meal, and which local attractions best met our wishes. This is a great find! I will go back in a heartbeat and will/have recommended this destination to family, friends, acquaintances, and strangers.
Owner response:Miranda, Thank you very much for this glowing review, we are thrilled that you enjoyed your experience here at the Oaks of Olivet! Hosting you was our pure pleasure, please do come back and visit us soon. Thank you, Michelle

Just returned from an amazing vacation in CA. Me and my family stayed at the Oaks of Olivet for a week and enjoyed every moment of the stay. Loren and Michelle welcomed us to their beautifully located cottage, which is surounded by wineyards, oak trees, fields, and nature. It is well equiped and a place for any age group. The good location allowed us to see a lot every day, starting from Napa valley, to Bodega bay, San Francisco, Calistoga and old faithfull, spa and hotsprings, local wineries, Armstrong Redwoods, Santa Cruz and fantastic Pacific coast. Returning "home" every evening was a pleasure, as we waited for sunset on our cozy terrace grilling an sharing the best moments of the day! Thank you Michelle and Loren for your hospitality. We hope to come back soon!
Owner response:Thank you for your kind words. We enjoyed hosting you and your family here at the Oaks of Olivet and do hope that you choose to come back to visit us again soon.

Although the area wine tasting and ocean drives are both world class, the day we enjoyed the most was the one spent on the patio! Highly recommended!
Owner response:Thank you very much for your generous comments. The patio and field views are some of the big attractions for many that visit the Oaks of Olivet. We hope you come back to visit us again!

My wife and I would like to let everyone that reads this review know that we really enjoyed staying at the Oaks of Olivet. Loren and Michelle are wonderfully gracious hosts will go out of their way to ensure that your stay is very pleasant. The cottage has all the amenities that one would wish to use, including a microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, refrigerator (no freezer), and hot plate...After all, who wants to prepare every meal while on a vacation or extended weekend. Being that this is a cool time of year, the heating in the cottage was very adequate. The location is very, very quiet being removed from the road and away from the main house.....The only "wildlife" we saw were their two cute dogs and 2-4-6 cats roaming the property. Everyone has their own tastes, but we want people to know that you will enjoy a pleasant stay at a reasonably priced cottage not far from the ocean (40 minutes), Healdsburg, Windsor, and Santa Rosa and near the Russian River wine growing region. Thanks, Loren and Michelle.
Owner response:Thank you Bruce and Linda, we are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay. We appreciate you helping us to make the Oaks of Olivet a better place for all guests. We hope that your trip back home is safe and sound.

We stayed at the Oaks during Snoopy's old timers hockey tournament in Santa Rosa in mid July. It was really very quaint, cozy and relaxing and so quiet. The oak trees are magnificent! We could walk to the wineries and actually found those that were close to be some of the best we visited. We were fortunate enough to stumble across ZaZu restaurant and had dinner there our last night. What a lovely surprise - the food was excellent, as was the service. We looked forward each day, after trekking all over wine country, to coming home to the Oaks and relaxing with KJZY radio coming from the speakers outside and sipping wine as the sunset. What wonderful memories! Thank you.
Owner response:Dear Joan and Rick, Thank you so much for your lovely review of our cottage at the Oaks of Olivet! We also love KJZY and are now enjoying it full time as we just moved into the main house. You really must come back and visit and let me host you properly (with a wine and cheese reception or a breakfast basket of goodies). Thank you very much for your kind words! Michelle Oaks of Olivet

My husband and I were delighted to stay in the Oaks of Olivet cottage. Clean and private, with a beautiful stone fireplace, it was so close to his kids, and the weather warmed enough in February for an outdoor barbecue party. Just a short ride to Bodega Bay and Armstrong Woods, it was also not far to San Francisco. We would love to come again.

We arrived later in the evening and it was already dark, so we were not able to see the property until morning. What a beautiful sight with the sun coming up through the majestic oak and fog. This is a quaint cottage with everything you need for your visit. Comfortable and relaxing. We took advantage of the gas grill a couple times and enjoyed using the back patio, even in February. The stars really stand out. It was nice having so many great wineries within minutes of the place. Next time I'll bring slippers, the tiled floor was cool this time of year, although there are throw rugs around as well.

The place is well-stocked, super comfortable and informal, like a friend let you use their guest cottage. Location is minutes from town, but ultra- quiet at night and you're literally next to some of SR's best wineries. The large lot has some of the most gorgeous oaks I've ever seen. The owners are fantastic. Great place to relax.

Enjoyed our stay here very much. So close to all the activities we enjoy when traveling to this area. Only minutes from the river, the ice arena, shopping, and wineries. Very peaceful too! All the comforts of home!
