The Oaks of Olivet on the fringe of the Laguna de Santa Rosa, our six acre paradise, has majestic oak trees, some believed to be over 400 years old. Along with an orchard and large pastures the property also is surrounded by vineyards on two sides. With its address on prestigious Olivet Road, you will be within minutes of 7 award winning wineries. You are in the heart of the famous Russian River Valley, known for the ever popular Pinot Noir.
Just a short 10 minute trip to Sebastopol, 20 minutes to Guerneville and the Armstrong Redwood Forest and 40 minutes to Bodega Bay. Restaurants dot the countryside with gourmet menus typical of this Northern California paradise. Enjoy the country living but drive 15 minutes to be in either the heart of downtown Santa Rosa with it's many shops or travel 20 minutes to Healdsburg with it's quaint character and shop lined town square.
Walk the acreage, view hawks, jack rabbits, foxes and owls. Awake in the morning to hot air balloons floating over the misty morning sky. Sit on the lanai in the evening, sip a glass of wine and view the starry show.

Just returned from a beautiful stay at the Oaks! Myself and my two daughters, son-in-law and 2 year old granddaughter! We were there to attend a local wedding, and it couldn't have been more perfect! There was plenty of room for us all, and the cottage is wonderful and stocked with everything we needed. It was so nice to be in a safe atmosphere for my granddaughter to be able to go outside and explore, and she even was able to feed Thelma and Louise, the sweet goats, and see the Alpacas with the "funny" hair! We enjoyed lovely brunches outside on the patio, and felt like we were miles from anyone else! Beautiful and peaceful, and the Olson's were very accommodating when we knocked on their door a couple of times! I would recommend this beautiful getaway to anyone!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your wonderful review of the Oaks of Olivet! We are happy that you enjoyed your stay and found the cottage spacious enough for your group. Loren enjoyed sharing the animal chores with your grandaughter, we just love it when the younger ones want to meet our alpaca and goat crew! We hope you choose to come back again and visit us. Thank you!

We loved staying here. Michelle and Loren were so helpful in providing any information for us. The location is so peaceful and even though the cottage is on the same property as the owner's home, you have so much privacy. We loved "the girls" in the back......the alpacas and goats were great to watch. The property is located close to so many things....wineries, great restaurants (Michelle and Loren can give good recommendations) and wonderful places to explore. The cottage is very clean and we would sit on the back patio just soaking in the peacefulness. I would definitely recommend this property to my friends. Michelle and Loren are great hosts and she even mailed a pair of sandals to me that I left behind. Thanks Michelle for the jam and apple butter! We truly enjoyed staying here and would stay again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: We so enjoyed hosting you here at the Oaks of Olivet and really missed you when you left, you really must come back and visit us again! Thank you for such a glowing review, we are so thrilled that you enjoyed the cottage. Next year we hope to have some apricot preserves to share with our guests as the orchard is finally giving us some apricots this year! Thank you once again, Take care!

Very cute cabin, 3 people stayed here and visited the local wineries in the Russian River Valley. Adored the troop of alpacas and goats behind the cabin, nice fields and views of the vines.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I absolutely LOVED the Oaks of Olivet. From start to finish, everything was fantastic. Michelle and Loren were SUPER-FRIENDLY and had everything perfectly set up for a lovely romantic getaway with my fiancée: check-in was a breeze; everything was clean; the cottage well-stocked with everything we needed (esp. privacy); and the owners gave us some GREAT recommendations for restaurants and wineries. Having visited Sonoma several times before, I really appreciated being a bit off the beaten path. I cooked quite a bit at the Oaks, and the KITCHEN was easy to work in, with great counter-space. The induction burner, electric fry pan / roaster, and four-burner gas grill more than made up for not having a full stove-top. I managed to pull off several recipes from a cookbook called Long Nights and Log Fires, and we ate wonderful food in front of the cozy fireplace!!! The VIEWS on the property were simply stunning, and the changes in light throughout the day make it seem like a different view every minute. My FAVORITE was the silhouette of the oaks in the fog. Breathtaking. The only regret I have is that I didn't take more pictures. Oh, well, I guess I'll just have to go back!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your wonderful comments regarding your recent stay at the Oaks of Olivet. We enjoyed hosting you and do hope you come back again soon for another visit to Sonoma County.

My husband and I have rented properties in several countries so we decided to rent in this area instead of using our hotel points to stay at the local Hilton Garden Inn. This rental was the lesser of all that we have stayed. The electronics did not work, the finishing touches in the unit were less than modern, had a slight odor, the kitchen was not overly stock with proper cooking utensils, the landscaping was minimal and not finished. Additionally they have a wonderful winery DeLoach within walking distance and they provided wine from another region.Owner response: I am wondering if this is incorrect as we show no guest staying at the Oaks of Olivet on April 1st 2012. We offer a FREE bottle of wine for our guests that stay 3 nights or longer as a thank you gift. This bottle was made by a local wine maker (actually a friend of ours) and once again was free for your consumption as a thank you gift. I am confused as I cannot find you on our guest register. We also try to interact with most of our guests to make sure all is well with the cottage and did not get any negative feedback during any stays this past year. Our kitchenette is actually very well stocked, but I am interested in what you needed that we did not have, please feel free to contact us regarding this. I am sorry that you felt things were not to your standards. At check in I always leave a note card with our cell and home phone numbers for our guests to let us know if they need anything during their stay that we did not think of in advance.

We stayed for just one night for an event. It was much more private and relaxing than any hotel. We were so pleased to find little amnetities like sunscreen, which we'd forgotten. The sunrise and sunset from the patio is captivating, and our hosts couldn't be more friendly. The outdoor shower experience is not to be missed.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your kind words. We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay with us. We hope you come back soon and stay a bit longer.

Im actually sitting on the cozy sofa in the living room right now and it's great. We have visited several cottages over the last 5 years in this area and this is the best one! You really have your own complete cottage plus fantastic outdoor space and the outdoor space is HUGE. There are 4 alpacas and two cats that you can admire from afar or as close as you want to be. The cottage is close to great restaurants but has everything you could possibly need to make your own dinner. All in all a place a would recommend to my very best friends.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Wow, thank you so very much for your kind words. Your review of the Oaks of Olivet is such a gift. Please do come back and visit us again. Thank you, Michelle Oaks of Olivet

We had a great time at the Oaks ... nice house, wonderful hosts, fun "pets", beautiful grounds. Perfect location for getting around the area. All we needed to bring was a bag of groceries and our clothes. Thanks for everything -- the hospitality, the terrific place to stay, the whole deal!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Donna, Thank you very much for your generous review. It means very much to us to have another VRBO owner review our Oaks of Olivet! If we are ever in your area we will look you up! Thank you, Michelle

We visited this lovely property in early July. The area is simply gorgeous and serene--quiet and private. The cottage was larger than I expected and filled with striking and pleasurable elements to look at, read, and listen to. The cottage was clean and completely stocked with bed and bath linens, kitchen utensils, and, much to my surprise and delight, a hair dryer and clothes iron (because I prefer to not travel with these items). Our visit was so enjoyable because the cottage was beyond comfortable and our hosts were extremely welcoming. I could tell immediately that the owners put a lot of love and attention into creating this vacation home and experience for their guests. Our hosts were also wonderful because they were friendly and kind and very knowledgeable regarding which vineyards to visit, where to eat a fabulous meal, and which local attractions best met our wishes. This is a great find! I will go back in a heartbeat and will/have recommended this destination to family, friends, acquaintances, and strangers.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.

Just returned from an amazing vacation in CA. Me and my family stayed at the Oaks of Olivet for a week and enjoyed every moment of the stay. Loren and Michelle welcomed us to their beautifully located cottage, which is surounded by wineyards, oak trees, fields, and nature. It is well equiped and a place for any age group. The good location allowed us to see a lot every day, starting from Napa valley, to Bodega bay, San Francisco, Calistoga and old faithfull, spa and hotsprings, local wineries, Armstrong Redwoods, Santa Cruz and fantastic Pacific coast. Returning "home" every evening was a pleasure, as we waited for sunset on our cozy terrace grilling an sharing the best moments of the day! Thank you Michelle and Loren for your hospitality. We hope to come back soon!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: We have enjoyed the Oaks of Olivet since 2004 as visitors to Sonoma County. In July of 2010 we made the move from Minnesota to live here full time. We are affordable housing developers and work from our home office. We are on site to make sure our guests have everything they need, but understand that guests call the shots on how much privacy is necessary.
Why the Owner Chose Santa Rosa:
We fell in love in San Francisco and then visited wine country. This area was an annual anniversary trip for us after we married. The annual trips turned into quarterly visits to Sonoma and Napa. We truely fell for Sonoma and decided to purchase and make a plan to move here to live full time. Our 10 year plan has now come to fruition. We really love the friendly people in the area and the ease of life in general. The local fresh produce is also a real plus.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
We have 7 award winning wineries on our road. Our property has a full fruit orchard that we share with our guests. We currently have peach, pear, plum, apple, fig and apricots.
