Knowlton Farms Guesthouse...

Down a private driveway, sitting on a hill, overlooking vineyard views and mountain vistas is a re-modeled 1920's guesthouse. We call it Casa Compostella, for 'field of stars'. Welcome to paradise in wine country!

The 2 Bd./one bath/ plus loft farmhouse has everything you need to make your wine country vacation enjoyable. Luxury sheets and towels, a gas fireplace, cozy rooms professionally designed in a sunny, comfortable style. The kitchen is set-up to cook, or sit and look out on the 5 star view of vines and mountains. The location has more sun than anywhere in West Sonoma County! Cool mornings, warm afternoons and then cool evenings make this a perfect climate for living inside or out.

A 60' solar heated lap pool is on the property, as well as a therapeutic hot tub with an outdoor shower. Adjacent to the guesthouse is a path leading to an organic garden, where raspberries can be plucked for your morning breakfast. It is all here, and so much more. Take a slow drive a short distance to some of the greatest pinot and chardonnay tasting rooms. We are minutes to Healdsburg or Sebastopol, where you can find ambitious chefs creating sumptuous meals using local ingredients.

Exercise and activities abound. You can bike on the Joe Rodata trail, just beyond the house, or take a ride over Westside Rd. Hiking is just 15 minutes away beneath beautiful redwood groves. There are two 9 hole golf courses plus two 18 courses a short distance away. The pacific coastline is a beautiful drive over the hill from Graton through Occidental, both great towns worth exploring. You will never run out of things to do. Wineries, art galleries, shopping and enjoying life is what Sonoma is all about!

If you are looking for a special treat, you can revive yourself with a day trip to the famous mud baths in Calistoga. If you desire something closer there are several day spas in the area that will pamper you like a princess!

Planning a special event or a smaller wedding??, this is the location you’ve been looking for. We have a big red barn and intimate gorgeous grounds to host your party. All events are handled through Maggie, our special event coordinator and require additional fees.

And - privacy! The house is away on its' own. We’ve built a screened-in sleeping porch off in the apple trees that is a perfect spot to read a book or have a massage from our favorite practitioner. Next to the porch is your own patio with barbecue and outdoor eating area. Here at Knowlton Farms you are away from town, but close enough to everything.

We really enjoy renting the guesthouse to people from all over the world. We have made friends with some. Our beautiful farm would not be nearly as rewarding if we only had it for ourselves.

Wonderful holiday

Guest: SOPHIE (HUNTINGTON BEACH)
Date of Stay: 08/14/11 Review Submitted: 08/23/11

Our family (myself, my husband and two teenage girls) stayed at the farmhouse for a week. The setting is amazing (reminds us of France/England where we come from) and the farmhouse itself is so cute and comfortable. The view from all windows is wonderful - just vineyards, trees, plants etc. You instantly forget about work, living in an urban town, etc. Suzanne and Phillip (the owners) made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. When our car broke down on our last day, Phillip was so kind to drive my husband to Santa Rosa to get a rental car and Suzanne baked us some cookies to make us feel better !!! I highly recommend this rental property. We know where to stay next time we come to Sonoma County !

Paradise!

We stayed here in May and cannot wait to go back next year! The house is so charming and the view is magical. The owners could not be nicer. The location is perfect! We used their bikes to ride on the nearby trails. And walked through the garden each night before dinner while enjoying a glass of wine that we purchased that day in nearby wineries. This is a special place! Sebastopol is a nice town with a good farmers market on Sunday. The kitchen at the house is well equipped for cooking the wonderful local food. Day trips to the coast, the redwood forest, charming towns in the wine county, and all of that the wine county has to offer is in easy driving distance. The house is stocked with guide books and the owners provide a nice book with information on their favorite local spots. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with our familiy! We will be back next year!

Beautiful Grounds, Perfect Launch Point

My husband and I celebrated my birthday belatedly here. The house had everything that we needed and we enjoyed walking around the property - so peaceful and gorgeous. The location was great. We drove to Bodega Bay and hiked through the redwood forest at Armstrong Redwoods State Park in Guerneville, both about a half hour drive from the property. We also enjoyed downtown Sebastopol - had breakfast there followed by a spa visit. I didn't even get to talk about all the wineries in the area...that could be a whole other review. We would stay here again!

We really felt at home here. The privacy combined with the beautiful countryside really healed my soul. I couldn't wait to get up in the morning and drink my cup a joe in the cozy breakfast nook loosing myself in nature while looking at the vineyard and morning life. Ill be back soon.

Want to be there all the time

Guest: John (Illinois)

My wife and I had such a great time at Knowlton Farms! The setting is lovely, the house so comfortable, the views so peaceful sitting surrounded by vineyards everywhere. The landscaping design with many varieties of plants and evergreens, trees and vegetables and more, just wrap their arms around you. The pool is refreshing after a busy day, or at any time. The quality that is so enjoyable is that we were "on vacation" yet felt at home. The guest house was just right - interesting, cozy, livable. It calls us back and we will be back.

Thanksgiving with The Family!

Guest: Brett (Austin, Tx)
Date of Stay: 11/24/10 Review Submitted: 02/04/11

Everything was incredible! This is my favorite getaway in the wine country. Perfect for a small family, artistic getaway, or romantic weekend. Wake up to amazing views of vineyards as far as the eye can see and coastal mountains in the distance. I love watching the morning fog crawl over the mountains in the morning with some fresh squeezed orange juice and organic eggs from the local market. Just a short bike ride away, there was great shopping and some of the best restaurants in Sonoma. We also had a great time exploring the beautiful hikes, coastal fishing towns, redwood trails, wine tours, or my favorite, relaxing at the estate by the pool with a glass of wine. I have already recommended the Farmhouse Vineyard Estate to many friends and family who had similar experiences staying there. I hope to be back at the estate as soon as my job will let me.

After reading "Drews" review, I could not say anything so eloquently stated as he! Knowlton Farms and the surrounding areas are abundant with the finest amenities imaginable. Personally, I arrived at Knowlton Farms to regenerate and rejuvenate, it was perfect. If you want a truly delightful experience, visit Knowlton Farms. Simply relax, or, take a bike ride down serene country roads, have a refreshing swim in the lap pool, canoe down the Russian River, visit wineries, and eat the freshest locally grown foods. Enjoy exploring beautiful countrysides, or make the short trip into San francisco, a breathtaking city. At the end of the day, relax in the sparkling clean Jacuzzi spa with a glass of wine and watch the sun set. There are too many options to list. I've been there twice and will be going again. Try it, you'll love it!

I want to go back!

We were fortunate enough to be there during Thanksgiving. What an experience! The cottage is warm, cozy and set in a picturesque vineyard in the heart of Sonoma County just north of Sebastapol. We had all the comforts of home and the quaint feel of a mid century farm house. Long walks through the vineyard and the herb garden in the evening capped a wonderful day. I want to go back!

Beautiful, beautiful place! I felt like I was in Italy - the views and scenery are gorgeous. The pool and spa are elegant. The house is cozy and very tastefully decorated. Master bed is comfy. Very quiet and relaxing place to stay. I recommend it highly. My only suggestion is that it needs a dog! Perfect place for a dog.

Wine lover's delight!!~

Guest: Drew (NYC)
Date of Stay: 06/05/10 Review Submitted: 06/21/10

I'm a huge fan of authenticity. When my partner and I decided to spend a week devouring CA's wine country, I immediately imagined our accommodations to include a charming cottage tucked in the corner of a gorgeous farm--rows and rows of vines extending our morning and evening vistas--and, of course, creature comforts. My daydream quickly unfolded as reality when we found Knowlton Farms. Our lovingly restored farmhouse cottage was as comfortable, charming and eclectic as I had hoped. Our huge kitchen windows cranked open over an old farmhouse sink to welcome the cool CA mornings and views over the grapes. The pool and gardens are as sexy, subtle and just plain gorgeous as you will find anywhere. We even did a load of laundry and bagged the fancy-smancy dryer to hang it to dry on a run of clothes lines!! (...and we thought this was an awesome treat coming from NYC) -- all in all -- I couldn't suggest a more authentic, welcoming, well-rounded, comfortable place to call "home" while visiting Sonoma, Napa and the surrounding areas. Enjoy...
