Snowbird Creek Country Home, Fish from the Deck W/Wifi
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:Yes
This is a unique vacation home located within feet of Snowbird Creek. Fishing access is literally out the back door. However, the creek runs with its soothing sounds whether you fish or not. The rear covered deck can offer hours of relaxation.
There is an open wood burning fireplace for those cool Fall and Winter nights. The house has central heat and air conditioning and all rooms have ceiling fans. Modern conveniences are here with none of the urban intrusions. The master bedroom has a king-size bed while there is a queen in the other. While being secluded, there is a paved road leading to the circular drive with an attached carport.
This is truly an area for the enjoyment of nature. Joyce Kilmer-Slickrock Wilderness Area boasts of over 60 miles of hiking trails within 14,000 acres. Trout fishing is some of the best in the state with numerous cold water streams near by. Lake Santeetlah, within five miles, has bass, walleye, and other species within its 2800 acres and offers the boater an outlet too.
The owners welcome the many bikers who vacation in our area. For a description of the many biking experiences visit Ride the 'Dragon' @ Deals Gap. We have a covered garage to protect your equipment.
The Cherohala Skyway is a limited access highway extending 43 miles between Robbinsville and Tellico, Tennessee and follows the ridge-tops for breathtaking, undisturbed scenery.
If none of this appeals to you, then you can just kick back, relax and enjoy your surroundings. We won't bother you. We're proud of our corner of the state and encourage you to come take a look to see what you've been missing.

That single word will describe what you get with this “home” rental. This “home” needs nothing. If it isn’t already there you don’t need it! I use the word “home” because it is so much more than just a house. The description and photos fall short of conveying the total package you get with this home/location. Comfort, convenience, spaciousness and complete. Total privacy close to Robbinsville, Lake Santeetlah, Kilmer,Cherolhala, Santeetlah Creek and all that Snowbird Creek and back country have to offer. Great fishing, hiking, swimming and everything else you can think of to do in a pristine natural setting. The deck faces east over the creek so we spent the early morning hours watching the sun rise over the creek with cattle on the other side doing the same. Afternoons were spent fishing the many creeks or swimming at the falls on the Cheoh River between the pipe and the kayaking put in. An easy access fabulous swimming hole with falls and a giant deep pool at the bottom. Fishing locations are so numerous it would take a year to fish them all. I caught trout EVERY day. Hiking later in the day to finish with a swim, fire and “dinner” on Snowbird Creek up in the back country till the moon was high in the sky. Sleep was in short supply with so much to do. Up early and late to bed. We had a moon every night with a spectacular full moon on our last night. We watched the full moon rise over the mountains at the Snowbird Lodge just up the road right before the Cherohala starts. Snowbird Lodge is magical. a wilderness setting in a spectacular mountaintop old fashioned lodge with unique top notch food. We have been going to the Robbinsville Lake Santeetlah area for 20 years. This “home” location is by far the best for those that want privacy and easy access to everything the area has to offer. I must include that we have stayed right on Lake Santeetlah many times. Do yourself a favor and go and see exactly what I mean !Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

What a place! When we arrived we couldn't believe the setting. As good as they are, the photos on the listing don't do it justice. The "cabin" is huge and well equipped. The view from the back deck makes you want to sit and do nothing... all day. It's that comforting. The second morning we woke to Angus cattle grazing in the mist-shrouded pasture across the creek. Everything you need for a week's stay (or longer) can be found in Robbinsville. If you want a night away from the BBQ, try El Pacifico Mexican Restaurant. We have only had Mexican food like theirs in Mexico. The owners are Mexican and the recipes are genuine. Servings are huge and tremendous value. We ran the Cherohala Skyway and Tail of the Dragon. Even the short drive into Robbinsville is a thrill. The roads are well maintained and the curves never end. For those who want to do some flyfishing you can try Snowbird Creek... right in the back yard! A short drive takes you to Big Snowbird Creek or Santeetlah Creek in the Joyce Kilmer National Forest. We also hired a guide for a day and fished the Trophy Waters on the Cherokee Indian Reserve in Cherokee (about an hour's drive). The whole experience was picture perfect. We're already making plans for a return visit.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

We had a most relaxing two weeks at this lovely house. I didn't realize from the pictures how roomy the house was and so comfortable and homey. The manager is very kind and helpful and never minded my phone calls with questions during our stay. Finding the house can be a challenge even with their directions. Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest and the Cherohala Skyway were nearby and worth visiting repeatedly.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our month in this wonderful home on the creek. The listing so accurately portrayed the home and the owner should be very proud of this property. We would certainly recommend this home to friends and family. Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest is a beautiful serene park and the hike was so very peaceful. We saw waterfalls near Franklin and Highlands and on the Tellico River. There are plenty of hiking opportunities in the Smokies. The "dragon's tail" and Cherohala Skyway should not be missed. We saw deer, plenty of rabbits, wild turkeys, and even had a possum visit the garbage can!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

This place is the ultimate home-away-from-home!!! Ann has provided everything you can imagine plus many things you can't even imagine! This home is spotless and so cozy ~ I felt at home right away! I especially enjoyed the wonderful creek bubbling just a few feet from the deck. I was able to make many day trips to places like Cades Cove, Cherahala Skyway, Joyce Kilmer Memorial Park, the wonderful train ride out of Bryson City, Cherokee and Gatlinburg, plus many visits to Great Smoky Mountain National Park. I found Sherry at the Visitor Center in Robbinsville to be very helpful in planning my outings. A grocery store also in Robbinsville is handy for any last minute needs. I hope to return again soon to visit these mountains, creeks, and this fantastic home.l Thanks to Ann and Mike for their caring and support.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing.

When we opened the door to this wonderful cabin, we thought we must have been in the wrong place! The cabin is much more quaint, comfortable and complete than the pictures on this site convey. The furniture and TV have been updated. The home is decorated with a country cabin theme and artwork throughout. The kitchen is equipped with every pot, pan and utensil you could possibly need. Even the little things that are often lacking in rental properties, such as shower heads that are high enough and adequate water pressure, were available in this home. We fished in the rushing creek, cooked on the propane grill and enjoyed romantic fires in the wood-burning fireplace while we curled up on the couch and watched dvd's on the flat screen TV. We plugged our Ipod into the speakers provided, checked in with the office on the free wifi and fed birds in the backyard with seed that the owners keep stocked in the pantry. We went outside at night to enjoy the incredible star filled sky and the sound of the creek and crickets. In the daytime, we packed picnic lunches (there is a cooler in the pantry) to take with us while we explored the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, rented a boat on Lake Santeetlah and went fishing on various creeks, rivers and streams. We didn't visit any restaurants because it was much more enjoyable to just buy groceries and cook in the cabin. A grocery store is conveniently located just a short drive into town. NOTE, however, that this cabin is in a DRY county so if you like a glass of beer or wine in the evening, be sure and bring some with you. There are games, puzzles, cds, dvds, books, magazines, and even two snuggly bathrobes in the master bedroom closet. Our bed and pillows were so comfortable that we slept late every morning. The cabin is in a very private setting but easy to get to. The views from the front and back of the cabin are nothing but trees (filled with brilliant fall colors during our stay) and the rushing creek. It was everything that we were looking for in a great, relaxing vacation.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.
