My fiance' and I loved Blue Canoe!! Nestled in the redwoods, the master bedroom has a skylight that has you waking up and gazing at the redwoods. The deck (and hot tub) has a lovely view of the Russian River. Blue Canoe has everything you could ask for in a vacation home, especially if you enjoy cooking. The kitchen is outfitted with everything you need--spices, vinegars, oils, coffee, recipes on the fridge--so all you need to do is run down the road to Safeway and pick up your main ingredients--or bring them from a local farmers market. Blue Canoe is private, elegant, and cozy. The towels and bed linens were soft and amazing. The entertainment system let us kick back after long days of wine tasting. There are incredible wineries within ten minutes of Blue Canoe. Forestville Pizza was 15 minutes away with AMAZING pizza and a fantastic salad bar. I lived in this area for a number of years and find Blue Canoe ideal for a real wine country and Northern California experience. Central to so many interesting places--Healdsburg (great restaurants), Occidental (true small town charm), not to mention the pleasure of being in Guerneville, a real Russian River community. We drove out to Jenner for coastal hiking and also went to Armstrong Woods --Muir Woods without all the people. The owners are incredibly easy to deal with and so helpful. It is as advertised and cannot be beat. Fly to SF then high-tail it up to Blue Canoe and really LIVE!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My extended family of 7 , including 2 teenagers, 3 adults and two 11 year olds just returned from the fabulous Blue Canoe Inn on the Russian River. The house is perfect, newly upgraded, extremely comfortable. The views out the windows to the river are beautiful, the location is excellent. 5 min to town for groceries, wine tasting or an upscale lunch. The owners very responsive, We spent our days on the river in the kayaks provided, went hiking, canoeing, played lots of board games and relaxed in the hot tub. Highly recommend this house!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children.

My family spent three nights at the blue canoe at the Russian River. We had the absolute best time. The home is warm and inviting. The amenities are fantastic. We BBQ'D sat in the spa, swam in the river, kayaked & fished. We saw many species of birds while sitting at the kitchen table. We saw an otter swimming next to us while we kayaked in the river. I will most certainly go back with my family.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+.

We recently stayed at the Blue Canoe Inn and had a wonderful time. The property was stunning and the pictures and description were completely accurate. The home is well maintained and stocked with everything you could want or need. The beds are extremely comfortable and the living areas are very inviting. You feel as if you have come home. We had a wonderful time kayaking on the new tandem kayak that the owners provided. Any questions or concerns were immediately addressed by the owners who were wonderful to work with. We would definitely return to this property again, the area is wonderful, lots of wine tasting and great food. We had an great meal in Jenner at The Rivers End. We also enjoyed a great lunch in Duncans Mills. There is a great bakery across the street in Duncans Mills from the lunch resturant. Wine tasting along Dry Creek Road and up to Healdsburgwas amazing. Thank you to the Owners for an amazing stay!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+.

We had a wonderful stay at the Blue Canoe last week. It's hard to decide where to begin. The house was super kid friendly. Between the two families we had four kids between ages 3-8. They found plenty to do around the house. They loved sharing the bunk bed, playing pingpong, foosball, and hula hoops in the garage, and the many puzzles and board games in the family room. The adults appreciated how clean and well-maintained the property was. The decoration and furnishing throughout was beautiful and functional. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you would need to cook up a fancy meal plus more. River access from the backyard with provided kayaks, canoes, and life vests was a real plus. Would definitely recommend this property to others. We also recommend fishing at Hegemann Ranch in Bodega Bay and doing the Safari West tour which was about 40 mins from the property. The kids had a blast doing both.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We selected the Blue Canoe for our annual "girls trip" rendezvous and enjoyed every minute of our 5 day stay. From the moment we entered the house, we knew that we found a place that felt like a "home away from home" not just a rental property. The attention to detail and the quality of the provisions made this a perfect place for our gathering. It provided a great base for exploring the surrounding towns, wineries, parks and coastline. The kayaks and canoe included in the rental were a perfect addition for exploring the beauty of the river. The hot tub provided a great opportunity to unwind, chat and reflect on all of the activities that were experienced throughout the day. The pre-trip communication with Rebecca and Ken was thorough, detailed and provided a smooth arrival experience. I would highly recommend the Blue Canoe to anyone who wants a "home away from home" experience.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Wow I could not have asked for a nicer place to spend our annual Russian trip. The house is amazing and the location was perfect. We were able to take day trips and still have the fill at at home at the end of the day. Ken and Rebecca were a pleasure to work with. I can't wait to schedule my next vacation!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.

5 old friends, 4 cities spread throughout the U.S. 3 days to spend with each other catching up, laughing, drinking wine, snuggling, lounging in the hot tub, cooking meals and reminiscing about memories that go back 20 years. We couldn't have asked for a better place to spend our long weekend. The house was lovely, clean, well stocked and casually elegant. We're already planning our return trip. Our extended family group from CA, FL and Haly all enjoyed our stay. Your home is especially comfortable and well-equipted for a short term rental. We were lucky to have 2 sunny days and enjoyed the canoe as well as the Redwood Preserve and a visit to Old World Winery which had amazing organic wines! Thanks and we hope to visit again someday.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/3

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: Rebecca hails from what native Californians refer to as 'back east'. Translation - The Midwest. Ken hails from Quincy, a small town in the Sierra Nevada. Translation - Native Californian. Rebecca and Ken are both former travel junkies and outdoor adventurers turned DIY obsessed homeowners, with an ongoing list of improvement projects for our vacation homes. Our jobs (Rebecca in commercial interior design and Ken in real estate finance) keep us tied to San Francisco as our home base, but we love escaping the city every opportunity we get (and yes, Rebecca is often reminded by her relatives 'back east' that being 'stuck' in San Francisco isn't all that bad).
Why the Owner Chose Guerneville:
Our passion for the outdoors led us to purchase our first vacation rental home in the Lake Tahoe area in 2005. Our first home was so well received that we decided to try our hand at a second vacation rental home, this time a tad closer to San Francisco, but still keeping with our love of the outdoors (and our additional love of good wine). As for this particular home, we fell in love with the beautiful kitchen/dining room and its spectacular riverfront setting the moment we saw it. Lastly, the huge garage provides many opportunities to expand our amenities package (plans are in the works).
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Inside our home you will find nice fluffy bedding, high thread count sheets and quality furnishings that set our home apart from the typical vacation rental.
Guests will also find our kitchen well stocked with tons of nice things that even a gourmet chef will appreciate.
But it's really our riverfront setting and connection to nature that makes our property so special. With our lower yard and permanent dock, our guests can enjoy extended access to the river in the spring and fall that other riverfront homes with seasonal docks cannot offer.
