Cloud 9-Mountain Views/Hot Tub, Come Experience Simple Living!

Year Purchased: 2004

Why the Owner Chose Asheville

I DIDN'T buy this property, it is my family home. I refurbished the mountain top Cloud 9 Relaxation Home for groups up to 8 and built Heavenly Hideaway, a cozy cabin, for couples, too. Both have hot tubs on an open deck under the stars. Just 8 miles from I-40, you can be at the Biltmore Estate, Grove Park Inn, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, and the waterfalls of Dupont State Forest in minutes. Quiet and private.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Asheville is just 15 minutes away for great day excursions, especially to the Biltmore Estate, but vacation renters find that they never really have to leave the farm because there is enough to do right here; hiking, enjoying the valley pond area, picking blueberries in July,or just sitting on the huge deck (or in the hot-tub)over-looking the mountains and relaxing. The layout of Cloud 9 is very outside friendly with sliding glass doors in every room to open and get that fresh mountain air. Views, views, views! Come see for yourself!

    • Janet, Ron and I had a wonderful time staying the week at Heavenly Hideaway including the hikes to Buzzard's Roost with a picnic lunch or snack, playing horseshoes, relaxing in the hottub, feeding the chickens, and watching the young, baby calf. In addition, we enjoyed the trips to Asheville, Grandfather Mountain, Biltmore House, drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway, and going to the Community Theatre. Heavenly Hideaway allowed us to relax and was like a home away from home which made our vacation perfect. We want to visit again in the winter and see the Biltmore House at Christmas time. Thanks for a wonderful week. Julia & Ron Pogue

NOTE FROM JANET: Many couples come for a special occasion but you came JUST BECAUSE. It's the little vacations that can really take the edge off and for a couple giggling with delight that you had "no plans' you certainly saw a lot. Come again! PS A little bull calf was born the night before you left...now named Lil' Pogue. I always name a newborn after the renter that is here!

    • Janet, Heavenly Hideaway was the perfect place for us to spend the weekend celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary. It is amazing how relaxing and refreshing it was spending just a couple of days. We really enjoyed the hike to and from Buzzard's Roost. The view from there is fantastic (we took the steep hill climb route, but it was totally worth the effort). We also appreciated and enjoyed the fresh eggs! Your property is absolutely wonderful and your dedication to it is very apparent. We look forward to returning and will certainly recommend you to our friends. Scott & Nerissa

      Homeowner Response:
NOTE FROM JANET: you two really know how to take a vacation in style with romance for your first anniversary. You brought over 4 bouquets of flowers with you to enliven the cabin. I wish I had a picture of how beautiful you made it look to celebrate that special day.

    • Did my last comment make it??? I may have goofed. Anyway, our crew of 6 kids and 4 adults had a lovely time being together, exploring the farm, and visitng Asheville. Cloud 9 is remote enough to be a relaxing vacation but is also a comfortable, homey place. Thank you, Janet, for all your warm welcome. Andy and Ashley & al

      Homeowner Response:
NOTE FROM JANET: It was fun to see your friendship as couples with children continue in shared get away. The kids really liked feeding the cows and I hope you'll send me some photos.

    • It is hard to describe something so perfect! My Husband and I spent our Honeymoon in the Heavenly Hide a Way and had an absolutly beautiful time! During the day we would hike in the Mountains and in the evening we would either stroll around Asheville (which was a short 10 min drive) or we would cook in the brand new imaculate kitchen in our privatle little cabin. Every detail is taken care of. Immaculatly Clean, Beautiful and Private -- I cannot say enough positve things about the Heavenly Hide a Way. We even got to Roast Marshmellows, Bee Keep, Pick blueberries and take care of the chickens. Janet will make you feel welcome to the point of feeling home! • The weekend we spent at Cloud 9 was so memorable and relaxing. It is truly an idyllic get- away. The house is the most well equipped house we have ever rented. Janet has truly thought of everything. The farm is beautiful and tranquil, and we spent a lot of our weekend walking around, exploring and enjoying the property. We want to return!

      Homeowner Response:
NOTE FROM JANET: I laughed when you were amazed that my vintage "Dressy Bessy" doll was in the toy closet for your little ones. Keep the best of the old is what I say.

    • My husband and I spent two nights at Heavenly Hideaway to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary. We cannot overemphasize the serenity of this place, and we cannot recommend it highly enough. Go! Hike to Buzzard's Roost. Be happy.

      Homeowner Response:
NOTE FROM JANET: I'd also like to share an excerpt of what Beth and Greg wrote in the guest book, "Thanks so much for all your work and dedication to your land here. As a couple from Asheville, it is comforting to know that there are folks like you out there who are doing what it takes to preserve the land that makes this area so special."

    • We came to Heavenly Hideaway and Asheville in celebration of our 25th Wedding anniversary. We enjoyed our stay immensely. It made a huge difference to be staying at Heavenly Hideaway as opposed to anywhere else we could think of. The little touches you have put into the cabin added so much beauty to the environment and made it such a pleasure. In many ways we didn't want to leave, we were so comfortable. The privacy, the quiet, and the beauty of the area were truly restorative. And, if we ever return to Asheville I hope you have availability for us to stay, because I would definitely book with you again. Thank you so much Janet. Christine and Roger

      Homeowner Response:
NOTE FROM JANET: Privacy is what you can count on at Heavenly Hideaway(on Cloud 9 property.) But I live on the property, too, to ensure your safety.

    • Janet: Thanks for the privilege of sharing your mountain paradise for a few days. We managed to "sandwich in" between two other visitors, and it was well worth it. The other places we stayed on our trip to Asheville did not measure up to Cloud 9. We enjoyed exploring the property ~ our hike up to Buzzard's Roost was definitely a highlight! Sorry to have missed the arrival of Pepper's calf, but the pictures were amazing (how special to have witnessed it). The peacefulness and beauty of Cloud 9 are what we will remember most about our visit (and the cows licking my hand). My friend from FL was so enchanted with Asheville she is considering a permanent move in the next few years. Thanks for all your efforts to maintain and preserve Cloud 9 for future visitors.

      Homeowner Response:
Yes, my cows love apples but I think you also have some cow joo-joo because the hired hand on the fence that day commented, "Hey, they won't even come up to me like that!"

    • A wonderful time was had by all! This was our fourth vacation at Cloud Nine, and it is still magic. Janet and Jeff make you feel like family, and offer plenty of interesting things to do on the farm. Whether you take advantage of the many attractions in the area or hang out in the hot tub,it's a piece of heaven on earth. Sugar and Spice love it too. It's a hoot watching them try to boss the chickens. They like to run after the wild turkeys too. Cloud Nine has something to offer for all species.!!!! We love it!

      Homeowner Response:
NOTE FROM JANET: Bella and Elaine, Sugar and Spice have become like family with all their visits. They schedule a massage or facial everytime at the Grove Park Inn and get pampered to the extreme. These sisters know how to live!
