PREPARE TO BE MESMERIZED, by the amazing fourth floor view. It will draw you in and hold you captive, whether enjoying an early morning coffee, while watching the boats leave the harbor, or savoring an evening cocktail and GLORIOUS SUNSET.....see it all from every window, in the privacy of your comfortable villa.
The villa boasts, TWO MASTER SUITES each with its own bath, including, dual vanities, JACUZZI TUB with SEPARATE SHOWER, and a walk in closet. One master has a king bed, bedside tables, lamps, amoire, flat screen TV, and a private sitting room. The second master has two new queen beds, new sony flat screen TV, and access to the SCREENED BALCONY. There is a POWDER ROOM to the left of the foyer and a LAUNDRY ROOM, adjacent to the kitchen In the living room you'll find a queen sleeper sofa, FLAT SCREEN TV, a DVD, and access to the screened balcony.
On the occasions that you choose to eat in, the kitchen if fully equiped with GE Profile appliances, a dual convection oven, smooth cooktop, a convenient serving counter and three swivel stools (to take advantage of the view). If you enjoy barbecuing, there is a beautiful, lattice covered, grilling (two gas grills) and dining area adjoining the pool. Rest rooms are also coonveniently located in the pool and spa area. For your relaxation, there is a LARGE HOT TUB (under the lattice and the moon). I may be partial, but, I think MainSail has the most beautiful pool and spa area in all of Palmetto Dunes (see for yourself).
During the summer, enjoy nightly Harbourfest activities including, kid friendly entertainment and vendors. Beginning in the spring and continuing into the fall Shannon Tanner appears Monday thru Saturday. Young and old alike enjoy his enthusiastic ,energetic performances often encouraging the little ones to join him in song and dance.... be sure to bring your camera for this one. On Tuesday nights, sit back on your screened balcony and enjoy the fireworks display from across the harbor. If you long for quiet time, just close the doors and the villa becomes a soothingly quiet retreat. When you are finally able to pull yourself away from your reverie, there are a myriad of activities to choose from. Whether a novice or experienced kayaker, you can rent a kayak right in the harbor and experience a beautiful, peaceful time on the water. For the more adventurous, there are stand-up paddle boards available (it appears to be deceptively easy). Rent a skiff, reserve a fishing charter, or go on the, ever popular, dolfin watch cruise. We thoroughly enjoy watching the resident pelican who arrives, almost on cue, when the Captain Hook fishing charter returns. He is assured of having a special treat and receiving lots of media attention. In the evening, stroll along the harbor to Ela's where you can listen to the live music right on the dock (I was touched to see a romantic couple, dancing in the moonlight). You may decide to go on up and sample the appealing menu items, or, if the crowd is lively, dance the night away. If Mexican is your pleasure, when you exit the villa you can hear the soft strains of music drifting up from San Miguel's. It beckons you to stop by for some good food and great company. Take a stroll in the opposite direction where you'll find some old time favorites..... Little Venice, Scott's Market Restaurant, and King Fisher. There are also a couple of newer kids on the block, Bistro 17, Parrot Cove Bar & Grill, and for something light, Frosty's Italian Ices and Coffee. Browse the shops for unique clothing, jewlry, or gifts. In addition, there are salon services and a marine store. It is delightful to stroll the harbor, watching the pelicans, admiring the boats or just enjoying the beauty of it all.....with the added bonus of never getting into the car.
When you've had your fill of all the harbor has to offer, ride the free, on demand, Dunes Buggy (April 1st thru September 30th) or bike to the beach. Hilton Heads warm mild surf is alluring but it's also fun to walk or ride bikes on the beach. Take a break at the beachside Dunes House for lunch, or sample a great pina colada at Coco's Beach Bar. Kayak or canoe the 11 mile lagoon system (unique to Palmetto Dunes), play a round of golf at one of Palmetto Dunes world class courses, or a game of tennis, on one of the 23 clay or 2 Nova Pro Bounce courts (8 lighted for night games).....all easily accessible, with or without a car. Palmetto Dunes has two ocean front resorts. Check out the new Omni Hotel, which replaces the Hilton Ocean Front Resort. The lush tropical garden, with fire pits and cozy seating, is a great place to gather before or after dinner. Treat yourself to a spa treatment at the Marriott (ask for Christine, tell her Judy sent you).
When you do need to drive into Shelter Cove you can easily avoid the, sometimes busy, main entrance. Opt, instead, to make the next right at the Cultural Arts Center, followed by a quick left, and your at Main Sail's private gate. You have probably realized that you can walk through that same gate and in a few minutes arrive at the Cultural Center to attend one of the many live performances (how convenient is that?).
I can't imagine being at a loss for something to do, but if you just want a change, the rest of the island awaits. You can ride the miles and miles of bike paths and never cover them all, browse the books at the new library, reserve a table at The Old Fort Pub (Hilton Head Plantation), making sure to time it for the sunset view. The food is delightful and the view to die for. For you golfers, Hilton Head has over 30 courses to choose from. Try your luck at catching dinner..... if that fails buy some local seafood, I guarantee you won't be disappointed. If you like to shop till you drop, take a short off island trip to Bluffton and visit the two Tanger outlet complexes. You will find almost every outlet you can think of and a selection of restaurants to refuel, when necessary. Search the many island consignment stores and thrift shops, for that special treasure (Hilton Head has many, just waiting to be discovered). For a change, try one of the public beach access points, peruse the shops and restaurants at Coligny Plaza. Last but not least, your stay would not be complete without lunch at Charlies.....ask any local and they can direct you....enjoy.

Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: We are, Walter and Judy. We both grew up in a small suburb of NYC, where we met, married, and started a family. In the late 70's, we relocated to our current home in the beautiful Pocono Mountains. After the youngest, of our five grown children, graduated from Boston Law School we decided that, now, it's our time. We share a love of travel and adventure and in the summer of 2011 we took a two month, 12,000 mile, road trip to Alaska. Amazingly, we are still married after all that togetherness.....much of it spent in our medium sized SUV. Real estate has always fascinated us and we will occaisionally spend the day viewing open houses. We also enjoy revovating homes. Our current project, recently completed, is on a beautiful river and close to skiing in Mt. Tremblant, Quebec, Canada. Cruising has always been one of our favorite ways to vacation and we are always searching for that next great cruises, although, it will be difficult to give up our time on Hilton Head. Neither of us golf, but we do love kayaking, swimming, walking, reading, chess, biking, boating, and cooking. I have a home based accounting business and my spouse manages our investment properties.
Why the Owner Chose MainSail: Hilton Head captured our hearts, when we first visited twenty years ago. When we finally decided it was time to buy, MainSail, had us from the get go. We have always liked the mid-island location of Palmetto Dunes and the harbor has a special draw for us. With the ability to walk to shops, restaurants, and entertainment, it has an urban feel, reminiscent of our youth. As our realtor can attest, we made this decision after considering many other locations and different types of residences. We always came back to MainSail. I have to admit, the ocean front location, also had its draw and in a perfect world we would have a place on the harbor and another on the ocean. Since, like most of us, we needed to make a choice, we chose MainSail and are thrilled with the decision.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa: First and foremost, it's all about the view. What can I say, it's unobstructed and down right amazing. The convenience and security of lighted garage parking, elevator access to all floors, and private access to the harbor is wonderful. Everything the harbor has to offer is within easy walking distance, yet the building is very quiet. To top it off, the pool and spa area have a resort like feel and the seasonally heated pool allows a longer swim season. MainSail is the newest waterfront complex in Palmetto Dunes and has the higher ceilings and open concept that give it a spacious, welcoming feel. Lastly, I love the feeling of connectivity that I experience, when sitting on my balcony, in the evening......I can hear the soft murmur of voices and laughter as couples and families stroll by.
