You are going to love this comfortable mountain home! The Roost is nestled high atop a ridge in a wilderness community (Pinnacle Ridge South) midway between Marion and Rutherfordton, NC. An adventuresome guest could ALMOST hang glide from the 70 foot deck onto the floor of the sleepy farm valley below.
Its location in the Isothermal Belt - five miles from Gilkey off US Highway 221, and 20 miles from Lake Lure - makes for moderate temperatures throughout the year.
The two-story, cedar-sided mountain hideaway is nestled on a heavily wooded five-acre tract that creates a wonderful vantage point for viewing fall colors. From its glass-fronted great room, guests may feast their eyes on mountain vistas that stretch for miles. After dark, one can view the twinkling lights in the valley below.
The 2,000 square foot, newly redecorated home contains four bedrooms, three baths, all modern appliances, central heat and air. fully equipped kitchen, comfortable furniture, and a stone fireplace to ward off the chill in fall and winter. This is a smoke-free property. Sorry, no pets are allowed.
Nearby activities: Hiking, panning for gold, fishing at nearby Lake James, golf, shopping for antiues and mountain crafts in area shops and flea markets, restaurants, sightseeing, boating, skiing, Friday night clogging and fiddling at nearby Old Fort. The property is located about 20 miles from Lake Lure and Chimney Rock and is close to Hendersonville and other mountain communities. Although Pinnacle Ridge is less than an hour from Asheville's cultural and tourist activities, the location affords guests a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily living. Homes in the area are situated such that they are not visible from one another, lending a feeling of complete privacy.

Rental contract and house rules will be mailed to all registrants. Booking is confirmed upon owner's receipt of deposit and signed contract.
