My only hesitation in giving Mindy's a great review is the fear that if we ever want to go back again it could get hard to book. The apartment is really lovely with tons of light coming through lots of windows. The second floor deck is a perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the Java Sparrows go crazy on the bird feeder below. The kitchen does indeed have everything you could need. During our stay there were also quite a few food items (like spices, sauces, fruit, bread) in the kitchen. Mindy had left us fresh baked (still warm) chocolate chip banana muffins, a few limes from her tree, and some delicious snack mix. When we mentioned we might cook some fish she left us some fresh garlic on the steps up to the apartment. Incredibly warm and welcoming. The apartment itself was clean and nicely furnished. Very comfortable. If anything, the photos don't do it justice. There were lots of guide books, a bird book, Kaua'i history books, hiking books. The location to Waimea Canyon was ideal. We did a lot of hiking and took a whale watching trip while we were on the south shore. Absolutely no complaints. Would love to stay here again. Thank you so much for the wonderful home away from home!

Perfect location for Waimea canyon explorers!

This place was a perfect location for us to explore the west and south side of Kauai. We ended up hiking 26 miles in the canyon in the few days we were there. The bed is probably the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. The hosts were SPECTACULAR! Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, especially for the incredible price.

I was delighted with my experience at Mindy's vacation rental. I was looking for a local experience that was affordable, and I found just what I was looking for. The owners were very welcoming and hospitable; the homemade muffins and fresh tropical flowers that were there on my arrival were a great touch. The rental was neat, clean and had a great atmosphere. It accurately reflects the online description and pictures. It is just a short walk to the beach and the feeling of staying in a local, not so touristy, neighborhood was very enjoyable. I was satisfied with my stay at Mindy's and my husband and I hope to visit again soon!

This second floor apartment was a real gem, airy and bright with windows in every direction. The location is great for anybody who wants to explore Kokee State Park and Waimea Canyon. The proximity allows you to get to the various overlooks in Kokee before the clouds begin to roll in (some days as early as 10 AM, so don't sleep late). The apartment is spacious for two people and although we worried a bit about sleeping in a full size bed (instead of our usual queen size bed), we did not think that it seemed to small. The full kitchen allowed us to do our own cooking and saved us some money. In any case there are not many restaurants in the area. The rental is in a neighborhood so you get a flavor of the town of Kekaha. We were a bit concerned about traffic noise since we were "sandwiched" between Kekaha Rd and the highway and we could certainly hear the cars during the day, but there was very little traffic after 10 PM so sleeping was not a problem. We could not get the passworded WiFi to work for whatever reason and Mindy admitted that there had been some trouble ever since they switched providers. Well, we did not go to Kauai to spend our time on the computer so it did not really matter. During our stay in Kauia, we spent 3 nights in two other vacation rentals for $85/night and $110/night. This apartment was much more spacious than the other $85 rental. We did a lot of searching to be able to stay in nice and affordable places. This apartment definitely "fit the bill". We were a bit concerned about this particular vacation rental due to lack of reviews, but the entries in the guest book clearly indicated that everybody just loved this place so go ahead and give it a try.

Heavenly Haven

My husband and I stayed here for two nights upon arrival on the island and enjoyed every minute of our stay. We arrived a bit late, only to find fresh muffins waiting for us and along with a relaxing cup of tea, we were able to get right into the vacation mood. The place is so cozy and inviting, clean and well kept on a side street.The owners are very friendly and there is nothing that is not provided as far as reading material, movies to watch, appliances to cook up a meal. Birdwatching off the deck took some of our time as well as a long walk along the beach to work up an appetite. We drove into town and found many places to eat and settled on J's for sweet bread french toast. A drive up to Waimea with a picnic lunch was easy from our condo.The photo was perfect on the web site and we were able to recognize it as we drove upn the dark. The property was as decribed and more. I would and have already recommended this place to our family staying here on Kauai and will continue to. We would have stayed much longer if we did not have to stay on the East side of the island to attend a wedding. We had a very enjoyable stay and hope to get back to Mindy's soon. It was for us a heavenly haven well away from the hustle and bustle but close enough when we wanted to get to any of the sights and attractions.
