About the property

Cabin, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

This is a 'Peace' of Cloud 9 Farm where the two of you will have secluded privacy and a hot tub facing the woods. Biltmore Estate offers their best prices of the season January- March.

Need to spread out more? Check out Cloud 9 Relaxation Home, too VRBO#34641 Both are on Cloud 9 Farm! And opening in the early summer of 2017 are two new cabins. Ask about our progress when you call.

And, yes, Uber comes right to the door.

Close to the Biltmore Estate and Asheville (15 min. away), Heavenly Hideaway was created with romantic couples in mind...a 'peace of heaven' awaits you. It is a place to get away with privacy and adventure of the outdoors on Cloud 9 Farm. Yes, that's right, this cabin is on our Conservation Farm with the owner living amongst this 200 acres...mostly woods but a valley to see our cows, swimming hole, chickens and U-Pick blueberries. You are half way up the hill top in the woods.

Everything you need is in this cozy, 750 square foot cabin with cathedral ceilings plus a full length deck that leads to an under-the-stars hot tub. Wireless internet, HGTV and Blue Ray.

All is on one level, with one easy step inside from driveway door. 15 foot high cathedral ceilings, unique hand-carved timbers (find the massive hand-chiseled dove-tail), mountain laurel accents and specially milled red oak-paneled walls, surround you in luxurious cabin-style that smells of wood. Enjoy air conditioning or the cool mountain breezes that Blue Ridge Mountains can brag about in the heat of summer. Groceries are just 3.5 miles away as well as a cute 'Local Joint Cafe' for meals. Request a breakfast layout or stocking of the fridge for a small fee. Fresh, farm eggs come with every rental when the hens are laying.

Entering this 200 acres of invitation-only private estate, you will feel transported back in time, the way life should be. There are so many trails to explore, you could be entertained here without having to leave! 'Cocoon' right here ... tilt all the way back in the leather sofa in front of the big screen TV/fireplace. Bedroom and bath are separate rooms in this 750 sq ft cabin.

Need more room? Check out Cloud 9 Relaxation Home farther up the hill for 2 to 6 people. see VRBO #34641

The Grove Park Inn, Biltmore Estate, Chimney Rock Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway are an easy daytime jaunt. Plus, lots of eclectic restaurants with fresh, locally grown food are here in Asheville. We have a list of favorites in the notebook on the desk.

Hike safe trails through the Cloud 9 woods, mountain bike, fish or swim in Peterson pond, pick blueberries on our U-Pick farm in season, watch cows lazily grazing in green valley pastures, feed the chickens, kick a few rocks down the road... just come!

About Janet Peterson

Janet, here, your hostess at Cloud 9 Properties, LLC. You'll find me in the Blueberry Patch most of the time, because in July we have a U-Pick farm but the rest of the time I'm tending the plants. Our sing-a-long jingle on Cloud 9 Farm is 'Beds, Berries, Trees, Beef and Honey Bees' I guess you're most interested in the 'Beds' part, but the cows, chickens, pollination honey bees, and forestry management you might want to tour because it all makes Heavenly Hideaway a unique place. I live on the farm, too.

Janet Peterson purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Janet Peterson chose Smoky Mountains

Cloud 9 Relaxation Home is my family home - now a vacation rental completely updated (but you'll see the retro touches) over-looking the Blue Ridge Mountain valleys of Fairview, just 15 miles SE of Asheville, NC. It is the premier hilltop location for views and gatherings up to 6 people. But the cozy cabin, Heavenly Hideaway, in the woods, with a hot tub off the main driveway is where you want to be for a private couples get-away.

What makes this cabin unique

Besides the fun of watching the sun rise from the kitchen window or early morning hikes on Cloud 9 Farm where you can hear the cows crunching on the lush grass in the pasture, see wood ducks or a blue heron fly in to investigate Peterson pond or hike the mountain trails...besides all that, in 15 minutes you can be on the Biltmore Estate or in downtown Asheville going to an eclectic local foods restaurant or get to Chimney Rock Park and Lake Lure for the afternoon. I recommend the scenic boat ride/dinner tour. In Asheville, you must see the Grove Park Inn and Spa for a lunch on Sunset Terrace or splurge on the spa. (But I do know some day spas, too, just ask.) Waterfalls? Ah, yes, just 40 min. on the Blue Ridge Parkway...Looking Glass Falls, but Dupont State Park has 4 unique falls for a great day trip. And don't forget Sliding Rock, bring your oldest cut-off jeans to wear splashing.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We loved this cottage. So beautiful and peaceful. Janet is top notch! Thank you so much for having everything I forgot to pack. We enjoyed the hot tub so much. We used our big golf umbrella when it rained and got in anyway. If you added anything, I suggest an umbrella on a stand by the hot tub. Really loved it!

My Response

That's a great idea! We'll get an umbrella on a stand. That would be the only down side to having a hot tub under the stars instead of under a roof. You proved you could take the elements and just apply umbrella.

Cozy and adorable!

This place is majestical. So glad to have found this gem for our anniversary trip. This farm and cottage is beautiful. We enjoyed the hot tub, fire pit, fresh eggs and some beautiful scenery on our hikes. I'm jealous that Janet gets to call this place home. We are grateful to have found this place. Hoping to visit again!

Owner's Response: Did you especially like it because we are a once you are on that 1/2 mile of dirt road, then find the winding, easy driveway up the hill to the Heavenly Hideaway retreat ...you feel like you are a world away from all your cares? And, yes, I still get that feeling after living here for 48 years!

Cute cabin tucked away but close to it all

  • 5 of 5

We arrived around 8pm on Friday and Janet was so welcoming and flexible when we arrived! She had great recommendations for dinner close by as well as into Asheville, which was a quick, easy 15min drive. It was dark when we arrived, so we were amazed by the property the next morning, the farm, with cows and chickens, and landscaped areas we couldn't appreciate on our drive in. She and Jeff have maintained the natural feel of being on a mountain, but have taken great care to play up these features with the work they have done on the property. The cabin was perfect, stocked kitchen with the basics essentials (fresh eggs for breakfast and coffee) and since we were only staying the weekend, this was plenty. Very clean and well-maintained, you can tell she loves taking care of her guest and her homes. Porch was great to take in the peacefulness of nature with the rocking chairs and hot tub. We felt right at home in this cozy cabin and wish our stay could've been longer. Thanks Janet & Jeff for all you did and continue to do to make your guest feel comfortable away from home!

Owner's Response: Well, you're welcome! Yes, we keep basic supplies in the cabin because there is nothing worse that having to get settled in, then run back out for coffee. Or run out of TP. In fact, since we also live on the farm, you can call us if you need anything...even if it's a "cup of sugar" though we have that there, too!

Absolutely AMAZING😁😁😁

  • 5 of 5

The stay was absolutely AMAZING! We didn't want to leave! We first got there late at night and the owner was very acceptingg of that.. Also she kept the lights on for us..It was very easy access into the house with the code of course.. But it was as if we stepped into the back woodsmen magazine! It was beautiful! Everything was well stocked and we got FRESH FREE farm eggs they were absolutely delicious!.. Then we got into the hot tub the hot tub was to die for it was perfectly warmed and ready for us to get in! After the hot tubs we found wonderful fluffy robes to put on and just sit back and relax. Each day/night we spent was magical.. The bed was so fluffy and soft we had a great sleep.. There was one night that we had trouble with the blue ray and I called the owner and it was like 830-9pm and she immediately answered the phone and did some troubleshooting with us without any hesitation! She was the best! I would recommend this stay to anyone it was so peaceful and relaxing we will DEFINITELY be back and at the same cabin! This is a MUST do!

Owner's Response: Busy people NEED a break! You can arrive anytime after 3 PM but it's good to let me know when after dark so I can have the lights and heat on for you. You know why I didn't say air conditioning? Because here in the mountains at night, just open the windows to get the cool, fresh air. We do have central air for daytime heat as well. Just be prepared if you arrive after dark to know that there are NO streetlights! Sometimes city folk are a little "a'taken back" by that!

Perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

I have never experienced a cabin that was so perfect for a relaxing, romantic getaway. The cabin was immaculate and well stocked. The fresh eggs were greatly appreciated. Janet is a wonderful host. The cabin is situated in a great location. We will definitely stay there again!

Owner's Response: By "great location" we know you mean close enough to Asheville and the quaint town of Black Mountain to be able to do excursions but have this cabin out in the country just 15 minutes away from the din of the city to truly relax and reflect on what is important in your life.

Great location! Beautiful farm!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Cloud 9! The farm is in the perfect location for easy access to all the different attractions and hiking around the area. The cabin was comfortable, though the bed was a little firm for me. We greatly enjoyed soaking in the hot tub after a day of hiking and site-seeing. Our pup enjoyed being able to explore the woods off leash and playing in the pond. My husband and I really enjoyed the yard games next to the pond! We really wish we could have stayed forever!

Owner's Response: Yes, we saw you playing horseshoes, bocci ball and crochet each evening as you unwound from the day of hiking and site seeing. You stayed a week and that is a good amount of time to really relax! You're the first ones to comment on the firmness of the bed in a negative way...hmm...will ask more vacationers for an opinion. We certainly want to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Wonderful vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third stay at the Heavenly Hideaway Cabin and we can't say enough about it. It is nicely appointed and rustic with lots of custom woodwork. We absolutely love it there and plan to come back. The cabin is always clean when we arrive. It is quiet, peaceful perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We really enjoy sitting on the back porch and listening to the birds. The first night of our stay we had an awesome storm hit that made for some great sleeping weather. The hot tub is quite inviting once the temperature starts to go down in the evening. We love taking walks around the property to see the cows and the pond. And we like to feed the chickens our scraps, they are such characters. The blueberries were extra tasty this year! I think this was our best visit so far because we had our visit planned out just right and knew what we wanted to do and where we wanted to go. We did just the right amount of sightseeing and just the right amount of relaxing! We highly recommend the hike up to Chimney Rock...it is well worth the sore calves the next day. We found a great restaurant called Vinnie's...also well worth ride into town as it is away from all the touristy areas. Thanks for the great stay Janet :) Hope to see you again soon!

Owner's Response: Everyone loves blueberry season because you can pick your breakfast and snack right off the bush. We grow them naturally, no sprays. I'm glad you planned a week!
