About Annette and Mickey

Mickey's grandparents came to this area for their honeymoon in 1921. It has been a long standing tradition to enjoy and care for this area. We've been making memories and friends here for three generations. We can help our guests make the most of their vacation.

Annette and Mickey purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Annette and Mickey chose Smoky Mountains

We love the Great Smoky Mountains, especially the uniqueness of the Nantahala Gorge. We were thrilled to build our home on the banks of the Nantahala River. We have learned through the years that each of the 4 seasons is indeed distinct, unique and wonderful.

What makes this cabin unique

We love listening to the sound of the river. It's also nice to fish and swim in our front yard. The Lodge is located on a Scenic Byway and has very quick access to all of our favorite activities.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Wow! This is the best place ever. We enjoyed our stay again! We had a great time on the river and we cooked our burgers over the open campfire in the fire pit. They turned out great! We will be back!

Amazing Custom Built Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Such a beautiful cabin on the river in Western North Carolina. Is a perfect weekend getaway for a reunion with friends! The cabin is fully custom built with detail put into every aspect of the home. Approximately 30 minutes to Bryson City and Harrah's and in the heart of Western North Carolina rafting!

Wonderful Place

  • 5 of 5

The cabin and the location are very beautiful. Everything really has been thought of. Everything all of the reviewers say is true! It's the best appointed cabin I've stayed in. The fish weren't really biting when we were there, but my boys had a great time tubing in the river right behind the cabin and all the way down to the fishing hole close by. The water is clean and beautiful. Haven't ever seen such clear water as there in the river and in the very close by Nantahala Lake where we rented a pontoon boat for a day from Lake's End Marina. We enjoyed sleeping with the windows open to hear the sound of the river, playing in the river, relaxing on the deck and at all of the outdoor spots on the property, as well as staying inside and having family time/playing games at the beautiful table. We would definitely come back. Thanks!

Owner's Response: Dear Dawn, Thank you so much for for wonderful compliments. We are so happy you and your family had a good time. Having the windows open and being down in the gorge next to the river is one of our favorite things ever and we really enjoy being able to share our home with folks like you who enjoy nature. We sure wish we could make those fish bite!! Renting boats up on the Lake is lots of fun. Lake Nantahala is a special place. There are so many things to do in the area that we still haven't done them all ourselves. We always have great plans then just end up staying around the Cabin, hanging out in the river and campfire, hiking and biking. We look forward to hearing from you if you ever plan another trip to the area. Best always, Annette & Mickey

Warm and Welcoming

  • 5 of 5

The cabin exceeded our expectations for a rental property. The owners, Annette and Mickey, left no stone untouched in creating a warm and loving environment filled with family history, handmade furniture, and re-purposed wood from their grandfather's cabin. If you're looking for a place to feel close to nature, to feel welcomed, and to feel the love that went into creating a warm and inviting home away from home, this is the place.

Beautiful property! Everything was immaculate and the details the owners included simplified our packing/preparation. We loved exploring the area and sharing time on the deck, sipping wine by the river and roasting marshmallows over the campfire. Thank you!
