About the property

Condo, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

If you are looking for a relaxing tropical getaway right on the ocean’s edge, our condo fits the bill! Located in sunny Poipu, ours is the best situated suite in this intimate 12 unit complex (suite 303). On the top floor (one flight of stairs to entry) and jutting out from the adjoining suites, our comfortable 900 ft2 condo offers a stunning and unobstructed view of the ocean. Ceiling fans throughout and cool tradewinds keep the suite fresh and pleasant.

Walk out to your private lanai (balcony) and enjoy breathtaking sunrise and sunsets, all the while listening to the waves crash on the shoreline below. From here you can also relax and watch sea turtles feeding below, pods of dolphins cruising by, and in season, marvel at the awe-inspiring show provided by humpback whales.

Lounge by the pool, or share a cool drink on Poipu Palms’ lovely deck overlooking the ocean. Enjoy the stunning 180 degree view of shorelines in both directions and the blue Pacific Ocean!

Enjoy three amazing beaches within a short ½ mile walk: Brennecke (great snorkeling and body-surfing), Shipwreck (at the Hyatt Resort) and Poipu (rated in the world’s top ten). Wonderful Koloa town, world renowned Poipu Bay Golf course, and the best restaurants on Kauai are only minutes away.

The garden isle of Kauai is also renowned for many activities available in some of the most spectacular natural settings anywhere. Hike or bike in Waimea Canyon, also known as the Grand Canyon of Hawaii. Rent a kayak and take a scenic trip down the Hule’ia, followed by a short hike to an enchanting waterfall. A hike on the Kalalau trail along the rugged Na Pali coast is a must. Snorkling, boogie boarding, scuba, zip-lining, ATV and tubing tours, and horseback riding are some of the many activities available on Kauai.

About Brent & Megan Sinclair

We are a professional couple, an elementary school teacher and a forester, who love to travel and meet new people. We enjoy hiking, yoga, boating, and on Kauai love exploring the many beaches and beach activities such as snorkelling, boogie boarding. We also try and fit in some golf and tennis.

Brent & Megan Sinclair purchased this condo in 2008

Why Brent & Megan Sinclair chose Poipu

While we have visited all of the Hawaiian islands, Kuaui holds a special place in our hearts. We love the lushness and wild beauty that Kuaui has to offer for outdoor pursuits, and the incredible weather that Poipu Beach affords. We fell in love with our condo in Poipu Palms because of its spectacular oceanfront location, the quiet and peaceful neighbourhood, and the fact that we can walk to 3 fantastic beaches within minutes. If we want shops and restaurants, quaint Old Koloa Town is just a short drive away.

What makes this condo unique

Our property is located in a charming complex that only has 12 units, which means that the pool is rarely crowded! We enjoy sitting on our lanai (which juts out from the others and is on the top floor, thus affording us lots of privacy) and watching turtles and whales go by under our very noses. The view from both our lanai and the pool is truly amazing.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This was a great place to rent, a nice view, kitchen and everything. The only thing was the weather, it rained, but I guess the owner cannot help that. Nice birds outside, a perfect view to a sea turtle having its beakfast on the reef below.

Best view in Poipu!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in Poipu Palms #303! The top floor condo had a fantastic view over the ocean and pool. We saw lots of turtles, dolphins and whales daily. Condo was clean, spacious and very quiet. Loved falling asleep to crashing waves every night. Well stocked with all that we needed for the beach - towels, cooler, snorkel gear and boogie boards. Enjoyed the short walk to the nearby beaches - Shipwreck, Brenneckes and Poipu Beach. The condo was perfect - we will be back!

Owner's Response: We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us at Poipu Palms #303 and look forward to hosting you again! Being lulled to sleep by the ocean, watching swaying palms, and admiring marine life up close and personal is indeed a wonderful way to enjoy island time. When we are on island, we also struggle to leave our lanai, despite the enticing beaches and activities nearby! Mahalo, Brent and Megan

Fantastic oceanfront condo

  • 5 of 5

We came here with our two adult daughters, and we all agree that this place is great. We spent hours on the lanai looking at the waves crashing on the rocks and spotting turtles. The place is nicely appointed, with updated and attractive furniture, comfortable beds, beach toys etc. We had all of our breakfasts, and several dinners in the condo, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The location is fantastic. An easy walk to Poipu Beach or Shipwrecks Beach and the Grand Hyatt. But as nice as those places are, we were always so happy to come back to the condo for a cocktail on the lanai to watch an unobstructed view of the beautiful sunset.

Owner's Response: Thanks and we're so pleased you enjoyed our suite so much! We like a balance of eating out and in the suite as well, although hard to beat the view from the lanai table for sure.

Simply Amazing

  • 5 of 5

The best location in Poipu and a small building with the pool usually all to yourself. Imagine sipping your morning coffee from the Lanai watching sea turtles frolic and seeing humpback whales in the distance. Would love to come back and stay in the same unit. It's very comfortable and while the kitchen/bathrooms could be updated who cares! This place is amazing!

Best Seat in the House

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed in this unit for 16 days starting on Jan 16, 2016 and enjoyed it thoroughly. The unit was beautiful and exactly as represented on the website. We had stayed in two other units in this complex previously but this one really stood out from the other two. The view from the 3rd floor is a commanding one (nice feature: even tho the unit is on the 3rd floor the building is configured in a way that requires only one flight of stairs. I have some mobility issues but had zero problems negotiating the stairs) and the building is designed in such a way that you cannot see the units to your left or right. The sunsets as viewed from the lanai are like God's own wide screen TV. I loved the newly installed wood floors because, unlike the carpeting we had in the other two units, the wood doesn't smell musty or feel perpetually damp. The unit has its own washer and dryer, which is a huge convenience and also a second bathroom, an even bigger convenience. With the 2nd bathroom my wife and I could get ready for the day simultaneously, which probably saved us an hour every day. We were there for 16 days so that's a LOT of extra time we could spend vacationing instead of drying our hair. This area is a GREAT location and close to an amazing array of cool stuff. The unit is well appointed and aside from a kitchen that looks perhaps a bit dated, everything is beautiful and functional. Time spent on Kauai is fantastic; staying here enhances an already wonderful experience. Bottom line: my wife and I loved it and in fact booked a return stay for 2017 in this same unit.

Can I make one suggestion? Wood floors can scratch easily and it's imperative to keep them scrupulously free of any kind of dirt or grit. Even with us removing our shoes at the door we found that it was easy to track in, especially from the lanai where the lanai floor would accumulate debris blown off of the trees. I either swept or vacuumed every day to keep the floors clean. A $30 stick vac with an easy-to-empty dirt cup would make it a breeze to keep the floors flawless. The old canister vac is cumbersome and awkward to use. Just a thought.

We had a fabulous time. Thanks for letting us use your home.

Owner's Response: Hi Mike and Julie, We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay in our suite so much and have booked again for next year! Quite a few of our guests are now second & third time returnees. Kitchen appliances have all been replaced in the past two - three years however the cabinet doors are a bit worn and are scheduled for replacement in the next few months. A 'stick vac' sounds like a good idea. We will look for one when we are there in March. Mahalo nui loa! Brent & Megan

The best lanai ever and lovely condo in Poipu!

  • 5 of 5

This condo was fabulous! The lanai had the best view ever and we saw turtles, dolphins, and whales pretty much every day we were there. With a comfy couch and seats, plus a table and chairs for eating, we spent more time out there than inside. The sunsets were amazing. We slept with the windows open and the sound of crashing waves was so soothing. The condo was clean and well-maintained and had all the cooking gear we needed. The toy closet had boogie boards, some beach chairs, mats, etc. It was comfortable inside as well, the beds were fine, nice looking TV (that we never used because Kauai has so much to do!), comfy living room seating, and adequate wifi. It's not huge but it was perfectly fine for two adults and two teenagers. The owners were very nice though once we choose the place, from then on we dealt with Parrish management and they were friendly as well. The condo was well situated for us. Brenneke beach was a short walk, Poipu beach a little further and you can walk to it if you aren't carrying too much gear or with small children. But it was only a couple of minutes to drive to it with our stuff and Poipu beach was totally awesome, especially for novice snorkelers like us. So many gorgeous fish right close to shore! There were plenty of nice restaurants within a very short drive, and Sueoka or Big Save for groceries, and easy access to roads to take you around the island. We especially enjoyed Keoki's Paradise and Puka Dog and Jo Jo's Shave Ice while in Kauai. We would definitely return to this condo and highly recommend it!

A little slice of paradise...

  • 5 of 5

If you're lucky enough to find a few available days on this rental's calendar, grab them. You will be amazed by the breathtaking view, which lures you back each day from the many sights and activities Kauai has to offer. Many are within walking distance of Poipu Palms. Enjoy spectacular sunrises as you walk toward Shipwreck Beach each morning, then head to nearby Poipu Beach for some great snorkeling and possible sightings of endangered Hawaiian Monk Seals. Green sea turtles are daily visitors in the surf below the lanai...and if you book time in the winter, you'll probably see whale spouts as well... and breeching humpbacks off the shore at Shipwreck.

The condo is well-equipped and maintained. The owners and management are super accessible, helpful and wonderful to work with. Our only regret was that, with all Kauai has to offer, we didn't have enough time to enjoy chilling to the sights and sounds of the surf below the lanai. If we are lucky enough to return to this beautiful island, this unit will be our first choice. No question.
