Welcome to our Guest House on the Hiwassee River. If your looking for a quick recharge, an outdoor adventure or a romantic getaway we believe our place might just do the trick! Located halfway between the small towns of Murphy and Hayesville, also we are 2 hours from (Asheville, Atlanta, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Grenville..).Finished in 2010 the Guest House is detached from our home, and is perched above the river, providing scenic views from the deck on a moderately wooded one acre lot with over 200ft frontage on the river!!!!. The Guest House is a 1 bedroom with a loft each with a queen bed and is finished with solid hickory wood floors throughout, spruce tongue & groove ceilings. The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove, microwave, refrigerator, solid granite counter tops and is stocked with everything you need to prepare a home-cooked meal. The bathroom is a glass enclosed travertine shower, granite counter top, and heated travertine floors. If the weather keeps you indoors, there is a 42 inch flat screen, DirectTv satelite, a DVD player with an assortment of movies to enjoy. We also have board and card games . You can enjoy your morning coffee or evening glass of wine, sitting on the deck letting the sound and view of the river do it's magic. Or head down to the river and enjoy a roaring fire roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. Now the river is what brings most folks here, you can enjoy swimming, kayaking, tubing, fishing etc, all right here on the property!! Also we are located a 20 minute drive from Lake Chatuge, where you can rent boats for fishing, skiing, or just cruising the lake. If you have a four legged loved one we welcome guests that have (SMALL PETS) for a $50 additional fee.If you aren't familiar with the area, since we live here, we can help with any ideas of things to see and do during your stay. !! We look forward to sharing our piece of PARADISE here on the river with you.
We are originally from Ft Myers, Florida. Peggy is retired, and I am semi-retired. ( I spend the summer as whitewater river guide) We have 2 children and 4 grand children. We built our modest home here in 1985. Naturally family and friends love to visit so we found the need to add the Guest House in 2010.
The Owner purchased this cabin in 2010
We feel very fortunate to have found this little piece of paradise. Just the view of the river itself is so peaceful. The small town atmosphere is another reason we love it here.
The relaxing views and sound of the river , plus being able to just walk down and enjoying fishing, kayaking, and swimming are a nice bonus.
Peggy's & Lyndell's guest house is like new, beautifully furnished with easy access to the river and hiking. While always nearby, they respected our privacy, but were available if we needed anything. Touring the area can be fun with quite a number of opportunities to shop antiques and local flea markets. Downtown Hayesville is quaint and can be taken in pretty quickly. If you want to dig in and relax at a secluded cabin in the woods overlooking the Hiwassee, we highly recommend. Very peaceful with the sound of the river flowing by. The kitchen is very well equipped, so with provisions you'll have everything you need without going out. They also have a nice selection of DVDs and books, and the living room and outside deck are comfortably furnished. The loft is a kid's dream if you have children.
We had a nice stay here the last week in Dec. Very cute and clean cottage. It was very cold but the cottage was warm and cozy. The heated bathroom floor is a real plus. The deck accessed from the living area afforded a nice view of the river. We met the owners whom were accommodating and welcoming. Convenient location to Hayesville and Murphy, Fire’s Creek Recreation area. Will stay here again.
GREAT VIEW, AND LOVED THE WALK ON THE RIVER. BEAUTIFUL! WE REALLY LOVED THE HEATED FLOORS IN THE BATHROOM.
This guest house was wonderful. The perfect getaway for the weekend. It was well furnished and had everything you could need. Beautiful view and an easy walk down to the river.
My wife and I just needed to get away. We found quiet, relaxation and good restaurants nearby. One evening we cooked dinner. The cabin had everything we needed. We will be back for sure.
This guest cottage on the Hiawassi River was better than I dreamed it could be! The place was immaculate and beautifully furnished! Even though it indicates one bedroom--there is a loft with a queen size bed for company. All state of the art appliances in the kitchen and everything you could possibly need for cooking. Towels and sheets are supplied as well and were laundered every week (I was there a month) They bought a brand new gas grill while I was there and it is on the deck which is so convenient! The deck was so nice--I would have coffee and sometimes breakfast out there and then in the afternoons a glass of wine while I caught up on reading. I loved walking down to the river after the dam was released in the early evening and watch the water rapids. The house is located right between Murphy and Hayesville I took a day trip to Bryson City and Blue Ridge another day The owners gave great directions I needed to have my dog seen and they recommended their vet (who was nice and infinitely more reasonable than mine at home!) Peggy and Lyndell were great hosts. The location is perfect and once I felt comfortable with the mountain roads I was able to venture out to wineries, the John Campbell Folk School, Fire Creek Park and other places recommended Hayesville has free concerts on Friday nights during the summer and the bands were terrific.
. I really liked having the owners on site since I was by myself with my dog- I had been kayaking and my blood sugar bottomed out. fortunately Peggy was there and got me some sweet lemonade and let me sit on their screened porch till I felt better. I would HIGHLY recommend this Guest House and I can't say that enough! I am already planning on returning next summer!
I wanted to say that your get away home was a lovely cute place to vacation in. I loved the beauty of your add on porch to sit out on in the morning with my tea and in the evening with my glass of wine. Having the water in the back ground was nice to hear. Only down fall was having to go down three flights of stairs down to enjoy the river or to sit around the fire pit and the three flights back up which is a killer on ones knee. I was also upset with not having HOT WATER in the bathroom and having to wash my face in the kitchen sink in the mornings, I hope it gets fix soon for the people who were coming in for a month behind me and my daughter.
