Charming Bungalow

  • 5 of 5

What an enjoyable week we had. The home was larger than we expected and we absolutely loved the outside living spaces. Each of the three patio levels offered something wonderful. The outside shower is fabulous (beware it drains slowly) and the fire pit with big comfy chairs a favorite spot. The home is a perfect walking distance to the beach and many wonderful restaurants. The home owners have gone to a lot of work to make their home comfortable and the kitchen has absolutely everything you would need. The beds are very comfortable and all the linens are nice as well. We are planning on returning next sumer. A couple things renters should know is that it is in the flight path of the airport. It was not all the time and it did not bother us at all. Also it is listed as having air-conditioning however only the back TV room has a wall unit that cools that room and a bit of the kitchen. It was a bit warm the the first couple days however LaRue suggested locking the front gate, patio gate and front screen door and leaving the front door and bedroom door open. With the ceiling fans we were quite comfortable. One last thing is the garage, it is a tight fit. Our Toyota Sienna was snug, however having off street parking is a huge plus. We did not use the jacuzzi but it did look like fun. Thanks again for sharing your charming bungalow.

Wonderful time in a lovely home, great community!

  • 5 of 5

We traveled to SD in mid August and were very pleased with the home, location, and owners’ response. Our stay was relaxing and very enjoyable. We came midweek to transition our daughter to her dorm at SDSU and enjoy some quality family time as well. It was great that everything is truly within walking distance with some lovely restaurants, a fantastic beach, fun shops and lots of interesting and friendly locals. The first morning we were suddenly awakened by the sound of jets flying above, but the following days we quickly acclimated. The afternoon heat however was a bit too much for us. The AC runs well in one part of the house only and by evening the bedrooms are too hot to sleep in, although the beds are very much comfortable. When home during the day we tended to stay in the one room with air conditioning, and the only working television. The TVs in the bedrooms did not work, but that only meant more family time so not a worry. Overall, this is a lovely home. We really enjoyed the Jacuzzi and being close to the beach and having everything within reach in the community. Viewing SeaWorld’s great fireworks from the upper deck on Saturday night was an added benefit. The owners were very kind and available for any needs; they were gracious in letting our family have a late checkout to spend just a little more time in SD with our daughter. We would definitely consider returning in the future, maybe not in the heat of summer, and I would highly recommend this home for others that want the convenience of a cozy home in a great location.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We do understand that the bedrooms were hot this Summer. We are considering getting another air conditioner for the front of the house. Sorry about the tv's not working. They were set up to get only local stations. We will check on that. Glad you enjoyed your family. Best of luck to you daughter at SDSU. We are returning to San Diego in Oct. so if your daughter need help with any thing while at school have her call 619. -794-9413. Thanks again for writing the review, LaRue

Great Location

  • 3 of 5

The location was convenient to the beach. Having two bedrooms was nice, with expansion in the family area. Kitchen appliances well stocked, and having a few things, like spices, was useful. Perhaps a small thing, but opening and closing windows (to lock when gone) was a little challenging, and the blinds and screens in one bedroom need to be cleaned/upgraded. Also, if the temps are high outside, the "AC" in the family room does not circulate to the bedrooms well. Owner was quick to respond to concerns and was easy to work with and very nice.

Great Location, you will love OB

  • 5 of 5

Our family has stayed in this home for the last three years. We have chosen to return each year because we love the small community of Ocean Beach, enjoy quick access to the sand, and are in walking distance to some great affordable restaurants. You home like OB is a treasure, the back yard/patio area is where we spent most of our time.

We have spent our lives in the California desert just two hours from San Diego, we have visited every beach form Mexico to Carlsbad, we have shopped, dined and vacationed all over. There is no place like Ocean Beach, the pier, Sunset Cliffs, Point Loma and Cabrillo. On our morning bike rides, all within 12 miles round trip, we could visit Mission Beach, Fiesta Island, the Bay, Point Loma (my personal favorite:s Cabrillo, Rosecrans, and the tide pools) and Mission Valley. Just a little further you can ride to Shelter Island, Harbor Island and down to the Midway and convention center. All using bike routes!

WE loved it! Give OB a try!

Couldn't have been happier

  • 5 of 5

This vacation rental exceeded our expectations, and I would definitely stay here again. The proximity to the beach and eateries was just perfect, all easy walking distance for us and our two kids (9 and 7). The amenities of the home itself were the most extensive of all the vrbo's we've stayed in. It really felt like we were staying at a home, not a rental. The kitchen is extremely well stocked and even had zip loc bags! Having a washer and dryer (which works very well), was a definite bonus, as was the garage. We really loved the humongous beach towels, which were really nice to have since they were more like blankets to sit on. There were sand toys, which we appreciated, and an outdoor shower for after we came home from the beach. That was super nice as it was warm water! There's a tv in every room and fans as well, so we never used the air conditioner (it was mild weather while we were there any way). As far as being in the flight path, it was really a non-issue for us. I don't really recall hearing the planes too often. This house is located perfectly in relation to sea world (it's about 5 minutes away) and free ways, which were easy to get to. The house itself feels larger than it is because of separation of living spaces. A family of four can definitely have their own space. I can't think of anything negative to say about this house - it's exactly the kind of place I like staying in and really felt like we got out money's worth. It's the most we've spent on a rental, but I would stay here again. I highly recommend this house if you have a choice, you won't regret it!
