EAGLE'S NEST: Ocean View - Connect with the Soul of the Oregon Coast

Here you can find the true NEAHKAHNIE TREASURE! Neahkahnie's true treasure is the energy of the mountain - the powerful "life-force" it holds and makes available for each of us. Neah-kah-nie means "place of the spirits".

Three hundred feet above the waves on the ocean edge of Neahkahnie Mountain, thirty feet above the ground, surrounded by giant Sitka spruce and Douglas fir. Well out of tsunami zone. Look out through the trees, both south and west to the ocean. Look up from the sleeping loft through a huge skylight past the branches to the night stars.

This is a place to leave the city and urban culture behind - a TV-free zone (video/DVD/wi-fi available). A retreat into the world where the rest of nature speaks loudly. Where eagles circle and sing. You can touch true peace and magic here.

Built by hand, with love, thirty years ago. Rock off of the mountain, cedar from the river. The loft and ceiling are redwood. It is a nest out of which books, articles, and visions of the world we are moving into have hatched and taken wing.

The beach is a fifteen minute walk down the road, and a nice aerobic walk back up. A short drive to Oswald West State Park, the trail up Neahkahnie Mountain, the town of Manzanita, or Nehalem Bay State Park.

The Nest is a place to begin a new journey, to refresh your soul, to find new depth, new growth; to choose new futures within yourself.

Recycling and compost, if you have time, can be taken out. Recycling is across freezer near nest trash in garage, and compost is out to the north of the parking lot.
Unopened food can be left and we will donate to the little food pantry in our area!
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
No pets!
Please respect this special home by following requests in guests books; such as removing shoes, not using personal items in the garage, recycling,etc.
No overnight stays more than 6 nights.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience at eagle's nest! The view is incredible! We saw grey whales right outside the window. The cabin is so cozy, it smells like wood and old books. The location makes you feel very secluded and private but it's easy to get to and still right there next to manzanita downtown. It was clean and instructions from the owner were clear and concise. You never really know with vacation rentals if it's just pictures or actually that good but the photos are very accurate. I couldn't be happier with our stay, it was magical

Incredibly relaxing place, we fell asleep and took naps right after we got there, because it really felt like we could just let go. The views were incredible, all the natural light was lovely. It had all the amenities and relaxing chairs to hang out in and soak in the views. Easy to drive down the road into Manzanita to grab food, walk the beach, etc.

Best views of the ocean!! Great house for the two of us to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Super cozy and prefect. It did rain for the entire stay, but it just made the house even more cozy. Lots of books to choose from and read while overlooking the beach/ocean.

This was a wonderful place to stay as it was so different from home. Beautiful views of the ocean from so many of the rooms made it feel like we were on vacation. The presentation in VRBO certainly was not photoshopped. Home is clean and comfortable and has everything you need.

Amazing views and attention to detail.

It was a rainy weekend but I could have stayed sitting looking at the everchanging ocean forever. Eagles' Nest is a special place, built with mindful attention from the house siting to the colors on the walls to the beautiful wood materials. Perfect for a retreat or an exploration of the area. Absolutely stunning. Every minute spent felt special, from the morning to the night, you can see the beauty of this place, it feels magical. My second favorite part of this place was sleeping with window open and having the ocean put you to sleep, there’s no way that you can have a bad day.

A Special New Year's Celebration

This was our fourth stay at the Eagle's Nest and it never fails to be a wonderful experience. Celebrating New Year's Eve/Day in such a unique environment was special. Seeing the lights of 20 fishing boats out in the ocean at night was spectacular. Walking down to Manzanita and seeing the beach crowded with people taking part in the annual "Polar Plunge" was a fun surprise. We always have new experiences while staying here and will definitely return.

Wonderful home high above the surf. Central location to Astoria in the north and Tillamook in the south. Manzanita is the cutest town. Went to Wild Apple every day for supplies. Loved sleeping in the loft with the skylight and huge window, like a tree house. Thank you Faye for an unforgettable experience!

An eventful week

The Eagle's Nest is indeed a " treasure" and a "retreat to refresh your soul". We were mesmerized watching the ever-changing Pacific Ocean and awed by the craftsmanship of the home. We were lucky to encounter a rare coastal snow event while there and enjoyed the cozy, peaceful environment. The host is very caring and helpful. We will be back often.

We moved here 40 years ago, to be where nature spoke loudly, and to find community and culture in harmony with all life. With children grown, we've downsized. I moved my office back into the house, and converted my 'office' into a place where others can connect with the soul of this place.

What makes this property unique

Neahkahnie Mountain can be a deep and powerful experience. It clears out the confusion of urban culture, and brings us in touch with eternal truths and the wisdom of all Creation. Eagles, elk, deer, hummingbirds and other life are more present than people. Ocean, sun, trees, two miles of quiet beach, numerous nearby coastal state parks give opportunity to open our hearts to deeper and broader vision.
