Why Sharon Tabor chose Woodfin
My favorite place is Asheville where I owned Acorn Cottage B&B. I fell in love with the cozy, unique property that has the best of both worlds: the quiet peacful atmosphere of the mountains, but convenient to town. It's absolutely amazing how close the house is to everything there is to do in the area, but how quiet it is! You actually feel as if you are miles from town - but you aren't!
What makes this Bungalow unique
I love sitting on the porch listing to the tree frogs and crickets at night. During the winter I enjoy curling up in the recliner chair in front of the fire with a good book and glass of wine. For a marvelous mountain view, a short walk up Breckinridge Pkwy near the house reveals the magic of the area. I love the diversity of cuisine in the Asheville & Weaverville area less than a 10 minute drive from the house.

"Secluded convenience" is an apt description! Very nice place
Cabin Laurel is a quaint, well-cared for little house that does have all the conveniences a small family needs, just as advertised. The kitchen is relatively spacious and well-stocked with cooking needs, the bedrooms are a good size, and there is a washer and dryer for your use. The heater works well, and the fireplace logs heat the living room extremely well for those cool Asheville evenings. For security and privacy, the owner has installed motion-sensor lights outside and lovely drapes along with venetian blinds on every window. A few blocks down the main road are 2 large grocery stores, a Starbucks and other conveniences. You can get downtown in about 15 minutes without ever getting on the Interstate. We enjoyed our stay and would most definitely return to Cabin Laurel in the future.
Thank you for your kind words. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay!.
Shabby, poorly maintained - needs total tear-down
LOOSE AND WOBBLY HANDRAIL,Stone siding separating from building, no queen bed and was caved in center of mattress, broken cheap plastic blinds with slats missing in bedrooms, ceiling sheetrock separating from ceiling in bedroom, cracks in interior walls, floors tilted so severely it was disorienting, silverware so old and cheap it left a metallic taste, Pots and pans hanging up but dirty and greasy - bought my own frying pan.NO counter space in kitchen and no place for food storage other than refrigerator so all other items had to be piled on small counter space and windowsill.Mouse droppings in kitchen. The whole place had a patina of grease, dirt and dust. Lost electric second night. Contractors came 3 separate times to look at falling down stone siding with no notification from owner. One of the worst things was the slight gas smell that came from the propane fireplace - gave me a very bad headache so we didn't use it. No insulation and very cold floors. Also, the interstate traffic noise was audible and annoying.
If I had read about all of this beforehand, I wouldn't have taken this place. In retrospect, it would have been better to pay more.
I'm sorry you were disappointed in your choice of vacation properties. As stated in the property description, the house was built handbuilt in 1945-47 by national park ranger. It is rustic cabin with unique and quirky features.
What was not conveyed in your review is that housekeeping appeared within 15 minutes of your notification of the electric issue, and an electrician appeared a few minutes later, after hours, and found nothing amiss.
I have addressed your other issues in a private email. Not every property is for every guest. As far as the construction issue: no one entered the house, the work was outside, and I do not have the option of notifying guests of their need to access the grounds if I am not informed they are on their way to the house
The main issue remains: If you were so disconcerted with your 3 week stay, why was there no communication with the owner or housekeeper to discuss the issues and determine corrective action? Why was there no request to cancel the reservation so you could move to a place that would have made your Asheville visit more pleasant?
Three weeks with no communication to the homeowner or caretakers is extremely puzzling.
Yes, the floors are slanted slightly, but we weren’t planning on playing marbles...excellent rate, good communication with Sharon, and super convenient to downtown and the blue ridge parkway...great stay, we will be back!!
Thank you for choosing Cabin Laurel for your Asheville visit. I'm glad we were able to make your trip a pleasant one
Warm and cozy
We really enjoyed our stay. Cottage was comfortable and well stocked. The location was great, close to many restaurants and down town.we will be back soon.
Clean and convenient!
Exactly what we needed for a simple weekend getaway! Just a quick uber ride to downtown!
Adorable bungalow, perfect location
This bungalow was the perfect choice for our weekend getaway. It's close enough to downtown for meals, shopping and brewery tours, but far enough for peace and quiet. We will definitely book here again.
Situated in an established neighborhood built in the 1940s-1950s, Cabin Laurel is just 10-15 minutes to Biltmore Estate, Blue Ridge Parkway, and downtown Asheville and Weaverville for wonderful dining and shopping options.
