About Sharon Tabor

As prior owner of Acorn Cottage Bed & Breakfast in Asheville, NC, for 12 years, you can rest assured your vacation experience will be superb.

I am currently Executive Director of Tourism and have had a diverse background as a Department Store Buyer , non-profit museum directer and restaurant manager.

Sharon Tabor purchased this bungalow in 2008

Why Sharon Tabor chose Asheville

My favorite place is Asheville where I owned Acorn Cottage B&B. I fell in love with the cozy, unique property that has the best of both worlds: the quiet peacful atmosphere of the mountains, but convenient to town.

It's absolutely amazing how close the house is to everything there is to do in the area, but how quiet it is! You actually feel as if you are miles from town - but you aren't!

What makes this bungalow unique

I love sitting on the porch listing to the tree frogs and crickets at night. During the winter I enjoy curling up in the recliner chair in front of the fire with a good book and glass of wine.

For a marvelous mountain view, a short walk up Breckinridge Pkwy near the house reveals the magic of the area.

I love the diversity of cuisine in the Asheville & Weaverville area less than a 10 minute drive from the house.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This place was like stepping back in time. We couldn't believe how convenient the house was to everything we wanted to do, yet it felt like we we out in the country. It was private, quiet, neat and clean. Just what we wanted.

Charming!

  • 5 of 5

I would happily stay in this cabin again. It was clean, cozy, and while it's location was private--nicely screened by trees and woods from neighboring properties, it was only 10 minutes into downtown Asheville.

Sweet Little Home

  • 4 of 5

This home was a nice place to stay and was convenient to downtown Asheville. The owner could NOT have been more accommodating and we highly recommend working with her. Was it the most luxurious place we've stayed, no but it was quirky, roomy and graced with nice outside seating for afternoon cocktails. Yes, the floor is a bit on a slant...we didn't care at all about that. Just added to the ambiance. The neighborhood is quiet and interesting. There are good restaurants along Merrimon Rd that offered us great dining without having to go into Asheville proper...which it seems is undergoing an abundance of construction. We did leave a day early to avoid the Eclipse traffic and that was a smart move on our part. If you want an affordable, quaint, older home to make your 'base camp', you might check this out.

The home was nicely laid out and located in a reasonably good location for a Ashville stay

  • 3 of 5

My family and I were looking for a place to escape to for a summer vacation and decided on a cabin experience in Asheville, NC. While the interior was laid out adequately for a family of four there were a number of unclean dishes that had been put away with food on them and the linen on the bed I slept in was not clean. The exterior was in very poor condition, the lawn was 6 - 8 inches in length and there were a number wasp nest all around the property. I give this stay a three (3) mostly because the interaction with Sharon was absolutely trouble free and that was a pleasant experience.

Nice old cabin

  • 4 of 5

Very convenient to Asheville. Not far enough away from I26 to not hear the traffic if outside. Had a small issue with the grounds not being kept up but owner took care of it immediately.

Great place to spend a couple nights for 4 people as apposed to a hotel for sure. The owner of this property is awesome!

Nice place

  • 4 of 5

We had a few issues, but they were taken care of quickly. You need to know before renting, this house is old and the floors are slanted. Other than that, bring your bug spray if you want to sit outside....it's in a wooded area.
