Our guests have described our home as amazing, wonderful, fantastic, beautiful, fabulous, awesome, first class, perfect, gorgeous and a place they will never forget. We invite you to be our guests and experience it for yourself and your family and friends.

Sunset Plantation House is a spacious oceanfront vacation home on the sunny west side of Kauai. Including the lanais, the home has 3800 square feet of living space. Facing south, the home has an unobstructed panoramic ocean view.

Sunset Plantation House is located in Kekaha, the western most city in the United States with the least average annual rainfall on Kauai. According to WorldClimate, Kekaha's average rainfall is a sunny 21 inches per year.

A short distance north of the home are Waimea Canyon - the 'Grand Canyon of the Pacific', and the Kalalau Lookout overlooking the northern Napali Coast. A short distance west of the home is Polihale beach. A short distance east of the home are the Kauai Coffee Plantation; Port Allen where Napali snorkeling cruises, sunset cruises and helicopter tours embark; and Salt Pond - a great reef-protected beach for children.

The main floor of Sunset Plantation House is the second floor, which has two bedrooms with private baths, a family room, a kitchen and a large lanai. The second floor family room is part of a vaulted ceiling great room which includes an entertainment center, a formal dining area, an informal dining area and a fully equipped kitchen. The adjacent wrap-around lanai has a barbeque, dining furniture and lounge chairs. The first floor has a bedroom/bathroom suite, a family room, a wet bar and a large wrap-around lanai.

The bedrooms, family room, lanai and kitchen on the second floor have panoramic ocean views! Each bedroom has a king-size bed, a private bath and entrances from a family room and a lanai.

The home has central air. A washer and dryer are available for guests and a private shower is available for those returning from the beach. The interior of the home is smoke free, however, smoking is permitted on the lanais.

The maximum number of overnight guests including children over 12 is six. Social gatherings of more than 12 adults are not permitted.

Why Ed & Annette White chose Kekaha

They constructed this vacation home in 2003 after several visits to Kauai. They stayed in Princeville, Poipu, Kapaa and Kekaha during their many visits and chose to build in Kekaha because it has the best year round weather on the island.

What makes this house unique

They designed this house for large families, multi-generation family gatherings and visits by several friends. There are few, if any, other properties on the island that have 3 master suites and 2 family rooms. Each bath is spacious with oversized showers and double vanities.

With the panoramic ocean view, they added 1350 square feet of covered lanais and large sliding glass doors in all bedrooms and family rooms to maximize the ocean view.

Finally, they added central air because the west side is the sunny side of the island.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This home has first class everything...decor, comfort, cleanliness, and amenities. For 25 years, our group of 5 seniors has stayed in vacation rentals all over the west coast, Italy, Canada and Costa Rica...this house tops them all. Yes, the road is noisy, but we soon stopped hearing it. We highly recommend this vacation is tops.

The plantation house was a great place for my family vacation. My sisters and our husbands loved it.

The three master bedrooms worked out great for the three couples. The house has everything you’d need. We’d stay here again.

Sunset Plantation Home was Amazing

  • 5 of 5

The Sunset Plantation home was beautiful. We so enjoyed our stay there and had everything we needed for our stay. The views from the bedrooms, family room and kitchen were spectacular. Every morning we would wake up, make coffee, and sit out on the wrap around patio, and see the glorious views of palm trees and the ocean. The hwy was a little bit noisey, but we did get past that. We had a great time there and would highly recommend this home to any family!

Perfect family vacation on Kauai

  • 5 of 5

We just arrived home from staying in this lovely rental for two weeks with our daughter, son-in-law, and two young grandsons. The location was absolutely perfect for attending our family reunion held nearby, and for enjoying the July 4th celebration with fireworks in the park. The hands down favorite feature of the house is the second floor lanai. Waking up to the sound of waves, enjoying coffee and meals at the large table, waving to the passing boats and watching sunsets were our favorite activities. Second favorite feature are the spacious and fabulous bathrooms. Street noise from cars driving by wasn't an issue for us after the second day. With a million dollar view, who even notices the cars? The location is very close to Port Allen for dinner and snorkeling cruises, Salt Pond Park, and it's a quick 3 miles to Waimea for JoJo's Shave Ice, Ishihara's, Big Save, and more. We highly recommend trying Lappert's ice cream a few miles away in Hanapepe where all the art galleries are located. Having a washer and dryer was great and enabled us to pack lighter. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed when we decided to eat in. Tip: there's a small local market across the parking lot from the post office on Kekaha Road that has the best poke on the island. We met several neighbors who were super friendly. There are a few minor maintenance issues that need attention and the beds could do with new pillows, but overall this is a fantastic vacation rental.

Beautiful home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

I must start out by saying how amazing we thought this house was!! My husband and I went to Kauai to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and had 2 other couples that went with us. I couldn't believe my luck in finding a place that had 3 master suites when I was initially searching for a place. It seemed too good to be true! But this house is everything it says and more. When we drove up, it was so inviting. Very well manicured and of course, right across the road from the beach! Inside, it was very clean and well kept. The bedrooms are spacious and the bathrooms are big! Love the showers!! But one thing that really surprised us was how well stocked the kitchen was! Meaning, there are plenty of plates, cups, glasses, silverware, cookware, utensils, etc... It's like someone living there full time just stepped out long enough for us to move in for a week. We couldn't believe it! I've rented other vacation homes before and you were lucky you had stuff to actually cook with. Every meal we ate at the house was eaten out on the veranda/deck. We loved hearing the roar of the ocean and seeing the sun set. While there is traffic noise, it didn't bother us at all and just took in all of the beauty and ocean breezes. If you're looking for a place, don't look any further. We absolutely loved this home. When we go back to Kauai, this is the first place I'll be looking to book. It's that good......

The location for us was perfect. Set on the corner of the main road and the road that leads to Waimea Canyon, it's located in Kekaha, which is about 3 miles further west of a little town called Waimea. Waimea is the driest part of the island, which we also loved. (there's plenty of wet weather if you drive up to Princeville). Waimea has a couple of grocery stores, some small places to eat and one nicer western (meaning more expensive) restaurant called Wrangler's Steakhouse. We loved the atmosphere and the food was fantastic! There's a Wal-Mart in Lihue, but I would suggest you buy only what you might need for the first night and breakfast and get to the house to see what's already there. We made the mistake of buying a LOT before getting there because other places we've been to had nothing. This refrigerator had some condiments and things already. So my suggestion would be to check it out first before making big grocery purchases.

Port Allen and Poipu are really close for fun activities. This house is a must! Book it now!!! You won't regret it!
