Two Bedroom One And A Half Bath Waterfall Cottage Nestled On Nine Acres
Laurel Creek Cottage is perched above Laurel Creek nestled on nine wooded acres three miles from mainstreet Hendersonville. This 1,050 square foot cottage is surrounded by native laurels and rhododendron and is tucked in a mountain cover that was the love and pride of my Grandfather. The cottage is an extension of everything my grandparents were passionate about....undisturbed nature, privacy, and simplicity.
The 1,050 sq. foot living space is flanked by a set of french doors leading to the 350 square foot deck perfect for relaxing and dining while overlooking Laurel Creek and the forest. This spacious two bedroom, one and half bath cottage is designed to bring nature indoors and is decorated with a blend of old and new. The master bedroom features a handmade queen twig bed positioned with a panoramic view and cozy reading nook. The guest bedroom has two twin beds and there is additional sleeping accommodations on the pull out sofa in the living room. A fully appointed eat in kitchen completes the cottage.
Greeting you at the top of the stairs, you'll find a fun chalkboard with perhaps a few local activities or festivals listed, a fun reading selection, board games, cards, and yes a TV with full satellite package and Wifi.
Located in the heart of Hendersonville Laurel Creek Cottage is bordered on one side by fifteen acres of wooded estate and twenty on the other. You are truly tucked away with nine acres to roam at your leisure. The antique log cabin on the property is currently not for rent and is owner occupied ( couple, mid 50's , no pets) on an occassional basis.
During the spring and fall deer like to call Laurel Creek their home along with turkey, and an occasional fox. The cove also provides endless hours of bird watching with a large variety of birds including my Grandfathers personal favorite the large pileated woodpecker.
You are three miles to the heart of downtown Historic Hendersonville, and at the backdoor of Dupont Forest with Asheville, Brevard and Saluda only a few miles away. Hendersonville is a charming small town located in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina and home to The Flat Rock Playhouse and Poet Carl Sandburg's home place where he pinned Abraham Lincoln's the Prairie Years. This beautiful area of the country provides for plenty of exploring, shopping and dining experiences. The Biltmore House, zip line adventures, kayaking, canoeing, tubing and hiking are minutes away. Just down the road between Hendersonville and Brevard is the Dupont Forest with more than 10,000 acres of forest, trails and waterfalls. Brevard known as the 'Land of Waterfalls' is a quaint small town with tremendous cultural and natural opportunities including the 500,000 acre Pisgah National Forest.
I have tried to include detailed photographs that should give you the true feel of the cottage. Thank you for your interest as we start this new adventure of sharing our slice of heaven.....

Why Royall chose Valley Hill
The property has no artificial light which makes for a spectacular view of the star filled sky. Directional spot lights also offer the opportunity to light the mountainside at night. Laurel Creek cottage is situated on nine acres surrounded by undisturbed mountainside and Laurel Creek views while being only three miles from Hendersonville's main street.
What makes this House unique
Sit on the porch above Laurel Creek and catch a glimpse of the deer or turkey passing by..... All but one room in the cottage offer views of the Laurel Creek.

Beautiful cottage on Laurel Creek
This cottage is exactly as shown on the website. It is super clean, light and airy, and equipped with everything you need for your stay there. The beds are comfy and made up with fantastic sheets and blankets. It is quiet and peaceful. We saw turkeys and deer every day. Hendersonville is a short drive away with grocery stores and great places to eat.
We were there for 4 nights and visited the home of Carl Sandburg and the goat barn.
Saw Triple Falls, High Falls and Hooker Falls, all in the same area in the Dupont Forest.
Biltmore is a 45 minute drive. Be sure to see the gardens there.
Royall is a pleasure to work with and makes you feel as if you've been friends forever.
You won't be disappointed.
Fantastic get away!
What a wonderful slice of heaven. This is a great way to experience Hendersonville. The cottage lover looks a wonderful Creek and yet minutes to town.
Relaxing with coffee in the morning was my favorite!
Thanks for sharing your lovely cottage.
Thank you Kerry, I’m so happy you enjoyed the cottage and property! Hope you will stay with us again, safe travels
MUST stay...absolutely amazing!!!
If you are looking to get away to a beautiful property and immaculate house with every amenity imaginable then you must book now! We searched for hours to find just the right place for our first family vacation to the mountains as a party of three. Royall (the owner and greatest hostess ever!) sold us on it in seconds. She is amazing! Royall was nothing but helpful through the booking, the planning (she shared all of the best spots) and she checked on us throughout the visit. She made us feel like old friends. Now the house, the pictures do not do it justice! Not only is it tucked away in the most beautiful setting but Royall provides such a comforting decor. And when I say it has everything, it does! Plates, napkins, cups, paper towels, detergent, trash bags, spices, soaps, coffee, creamer, a fire pit with essentials, snow shovel, brochures, comfortable beds, thick towels, and the list goes on and on! We even came in to a hand written note and a bottle of tasty wine. Such a thoughtful addition! Four days was not nearly enough for us. We can’t wait to go back to this hidden gem in close proximity to everything. We hope you choose to make memories at this home, you won’t regret it!
Wow, I am so happy that you loved the cottage!! Thank you for your kind and wonderful words, we do try very hard to present the cottage as a relaxing retreat with all that is needed to unwind! Looking forward to having you back soon, and do come in the Spring or Fall to see how the property comes alive with color! Happy New Year!!
My family enjoyed our stay at this beautiful and restful cottage. The cottage and natural surroundings are more beautiful than can be captured by pictures. The home was spotless and equipped with everything that could be needed. My teenage daughters especially enjoyed playing the board games. The wine provided by the owner was much appreciated, we enjoyed it while sitting on the deck that overlooks the creek.
Quiet with just a burbling stream to relieve your stress.
We came to escape the heat of Charleston, which we did, but we also experienced a true escape from the stress of life. My fiance and I have demanding jobs and we had become accustomed to the frenzied pace and didn't realize just how much we needed this trip. The white noise of the stream with a wall of green and touch of fall in the air provided us the perfect environment to unwind with coffee and a book. The cabin provided a great listing of recommended things to do and pamphlets for everything. The feed buckets brought in Turkey's which we did get to see one afternoon. All in all a great vacation at a well managed cabin run by great people, perfect.
Amazing place. I didn't want to leave.
This is truly a special place. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed. We prepared all of our meals at the cottage. The kitchen is small but well stocked and easy to take care of. The beds were very comfortable. There were many books to choose from as well as magazines and information about the area.
One of the best parts was the setting of the cottage. A stream comes down the hillside right below the deck. There are chairs and a table on the deck to enjoy the beauty. It was so peaceful. My one daughter enjoyed catching salamanders in the stream. My other daughter enjoyed catching the lizards on the dry land.
The other best part is the owner. She is super sweet. I told her if I had that beautiful area, I am not sure I would want to share it. She said she likes to share! I do also, but I would be afraid others would come and ruin it.
I hope to go back to this cottage again. I am almost afraid to put in such a positive review...afraid that everyone will want to stay there and I won't be able to book it anymore. ;)
Hendersonville is a fairly large town. We were especially happy to find options for healthy food shopping. We shopped at the Hendersonville Food Coop and found everything we needed for our meals.
The home of Carl Sandburg is just a short drive and worth going to see. They still raise the breeds of goats there that Mrs. Sandburg raised. The babies were adorable. There are trails to hike but it rained very hard while we were there so we didn't get to explore.
Also in Hendersonville is a very nice winery, Burnt Shirt. They have award winning wines and we enjoyed a wine tasting there.
A short drive away is a cute town by the name of Saluda.
