This comfortable retreat sleeps two - has gorgeous plank flooring, fine cabinetry and furnishings, top line appliances, central heat/AC, washer and dryer in suite, fully equipped kitchen and bath with luxury shower. A light and and serene space, just steps from garden, patio, grill and ping pong, too.

We also provide amenities -- K-cup and French press coffee makers, beach towels, blow dryer, iron, luggage rack, shampoo and conditioner, shower gel, hand soaps, other essentials. WIFI and smart TV -- Stream Netflix and Pandora while you relax or enjoy a light meal in the suite.

We have a 50mb WIFI network in the unit -- nice and fast -- and 4 other networks in the building, all of which are accessible to all guests, so if your WIFI happens to go down, just tie into any one of the other 4!

Forbes magazine named North Park as one of America's best hipster neighborhoods, noting that culturally diverse North Park is home to Craftsman cottages, cafes and diners, coffee shops, several microbreweries, boutiques, and the North Park Farmers Market. The North Park Theater and the Ray Street Arts District are also bastions of creativity in the area'. The Los Angeles Times writes: 'North Park has all the ingredients for the cool school: It's culturally diverse and has art galleries, boutiques, trendy bars with handcrafted cocktails and local brews, and foodie-approved eateries.'

An eclectic and diverse array of restaurants, as well as independent coffee shops, can be found along the main arteries of 30th Street and University Avenue. The area is also dotted with bars and night clubs that cater to a wide diversity of patrons. Downtown North Park contains the Ray Street Arts District. Ray at Night is a gallery walk held the second Saturday of every month in North Park. It is the largest and longest running art walk in San Diego's history. Nearby, the Birch North Park Theatre reopened after major renovations in 2005. It is the home of Lyric Opera San Diego.

North Park has a Farmers Market every Thursday which has been listed as one of the top 40 in the USA. The market is located in the parking lot at University and 32nd Streets. The Spring/Summer hours are 3pm-sunset, Fall/Winter 2pm-Sunset. They feature over 35 independent vendors; locally grown produce/flowers; gourmet/ethnic foods; arts and crafts; books; and, often, live music.

Walk a few blocks to Balboa Park, restaurants, cafes, golf, community pool, tennis, recreation. 5 minutes to downtown -- Little Italy, The Gas Lamp Quarter, Seaport Village, Convention Center, the famous San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park and museums, Old Globe Theatre. 10 min to beaches and other major attractions, including Coronado Island and Seaworld.

After a fun-packed day of sight-seeing, enjoy the tranquility of the spacious grounds with gas grill, ping pong table and delightful seating areas.

About Beth Galdieri

We love homes, vacations, people, and customer service. Making people happy in beautiful environments is our 'thing.'

Beth Galdieri purchased this studio in 2012

Why Beth Galdieri chose San Diego

When we saw this building, with its old world charm and quaint sophistication- we knew that we had to own it, renovate it- and then provide fabulous, beautiful, comfortable and 'cool' accommodations where people could relax, enjoy the Park, the Zoo, the many restaurants- all within the context of an authentic, local San Diego experience.

What makes this studio unique

This building is thought to have been owned a century ago by an historic church nearby and resided in by church members or out of town visitors. It is a beautiful building and stands out as regal yet simple. This combination of simplicity and beauty attracted us.

Cozy, cute, and quite.

After a day running around the city and the beach, this was the perfect place to wind down. It's so close to everything and it accomadates all needs. I would always want to come back here if I'm ever in San Diego.

Great place and location

  • 4 of 5

This is a great, centrally located studio in a nice neighborhood. It is neat and clean with all the amenities needed. We spent most of our time out exploring San Diego and the area beach towns, so this was perfect for us. We were able to eat a quick breakfast in the unit, or walk a short distance or drive to North Park. North Park has an abundant selection of restaurants to choose from, along with fun shops to explore.

Everything you need in a clean, quiet space.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a week at the Grim Street studio. What you see in the photos is exactly what you get. Checking in was easy and information was provided as promised. We didn't do any cooking but the option was available. The kitchen had everything we needed. Nice shower and bathroom. Washer and dryer were easy to use. Everything was clean, clean, clean! The neighborhood was quiet and felt safe. Easy parking in back. Near the bus line when we traveled that way. This was our first time in the area so we did all the typical touristy things. Zoo, Hotel Del and beach, USS Midway, and rented bikes in Mission Beach. All very fun! Close-by food: City Taco on University Avenue has great food. Also discovered Amorcito Corazon Mexican Bistro at 3442 30th Street on our last night. Delicious! Several breweries within walking distance.

I highly recommend the Grim Street Studio if you want a safe, clean, walkable place to stay in San Diego!

Additional information about rental rates

Check-out Cleaning $100
Refundable damage deposit $250
Property Damage Protection $59
Tax Rate 10.5%

Rates in table are representative and may vary based on number of occupants and specific dates requested. Rates and minimum stays during holidays and special events, such as Comic-Con, are typically higher. San Diego requires that occupancy taxes be charged for stays of fewer than 31 nights (10.5%). Cleaning fee, insurance and refundable security deposit are additional. Rates are subject to change until reservation has been confirmed.

For stays of one month or more, we charge for bi-weekly cleaning, in addition to a final cleaning fee. This will not be auto-generated via a reservation request -- We will need to revise the quote to include the biweekly cleanings.

Many people ask about this: We include a third party damage protection policy in our quotes, which is a nonrefundable fee. The policy protects you and us. With the policy in place, we're able to charge a very low cash security deposit that covers minor damages (such as stained towels or linens or broken plates). The insurance policy covers more significant accidental damages (for example, to furniture, floors, appliances, counters, walls, mirrors, plumbing fixtures, lamps, window glass and coverings, other elements). The insurance also enables you to recover your security deposit in the event of a qualified incident. VRBO offers you the option of either purchasing the insurance policy we've quoted or paying an additional refundable security deposit equal to the coverage/face value of the policy. For example, suppose we are charging $250 refundable security and you opt NOT to purchase the insurance (which in this example has a coverage value of $1,500) -- Your new combined REFUNDABLE security deposit would be $250 + $1500 = $1,750. Please note that the price of the insurance policy and the coverage amount are subject to change.
