'KAUAI-FIVE-O!' Big enough for the whole family and Grandparents too! Five bedrooms, four bathrooms, 2200 square feet of space to spread out! Newly remodeled, with new amenities throughout the unit. Three lanais to enjoy the tradewinds. Two king beds, two queen beds, and one bunk set-up with full on bottom and twin on top. Kauai Five-O sleeps 10 comfortably.

It is only a five minute walk, down greenbelt, to Poipu Beach as well as the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa. There are eight tennis courts within a three minute walk as well as a third pool that you can use. Six to ten outstanding restaurants within a two minute drive or you can walk. Best beach for kids and family! Surfing, swimming, boogieboarding, hiking, spas, fine dining, and relaxing breezes. This is the place to be if you want to escape the crowds of Oahu and Maui! Fly non-stop to Lihue from Phoenix, LAX and SFO!

We can also coordinate up to 16 people. We also own two other properties, a four bedroom house as well as a four bedroom condo that are within a two to three minute walk from Kauai 5-O.

We live in Golden, Colorado and like enjoy the warm sun and water of Hawaii to warm up! Our condo is very large and it makes for a great family vacation. Our kids love coming here and swimming at Poipu Beach. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

We also have a 4 bedroom house as well as a 4 bedroom condo located within a two to three minute walk from Kauai 5-). Both sleep up to 8 guests.

Why Amy Vandervort chose South Shore

Very convenient to everything and enough space for an entire family. Hyatt Resort and Spa is very close, as is the Poipu Beach area. Also very casual environment for relaxing and some great dining very close by too.

Also, it does not rain as much on the south shore of Kauai.

What makes this condo unique

Beautiful location and easy to walk to beach and restaurants. Try the Hyatt Spa for a massage!

Roy's and Keoki's restaurants are our favorite, as well as the Beach House.

Go for a nice oceanside hike in th early morning to watch the turtles bob in the surf!

This was really nice. Really big and in a great location. We walked to almost everything.

We also liked the new flat screen TV, as it connected to Netflix and Pandora, so I could use my

accounts here and listen to music and movies. It was a really nice picture and the HD was cool.

Parking was really close and easy to find. Very private, as the entry is not shared with anyone else.

We would give it 2 thumbs up!

Adequate

Plus: The unit comfortably accommodated 10 persons. The location is ideal; close to Poipu Beach, hotels, supermarkets, and most of the major attractions on the island. The location is also very convenient to the airport. Ample on site parking is available. Unit has great equipment for the beach and surfing. The unit is well equipped and furnished.

Minus: Unit is on second floor with no elevator so seniors need help with luggage and must be able to climb stairs. Cleaning service did not clean under beds or furniture. No air conditioning so multiple fans are required to run in every room in order to achieve a comfortable room temperature. The on site pool is useless. It is ice cold and very small and gated with locks which we could not operate without assistance.

Owner's Response: Thank you Arnold for your feedback. It is very helpful to hear from our guests so we can continue to improve our guest experience. Most properties on Kauai are not air conditioned, since the trade winds blow so hard and provide a very cooling breeze through the property. We do offer ceiling fans in every room and additional floor fans in every room, if the trade winds get calmer. I will relay your comments to our cleaning team, so they can address these areas. There are 2 pools to use and they are on the cooler side. In the winter months, the may feel cold, on a cooler day. In Hawaii, the pools generally do not require heating, since it is consistently warm. We are a second floor entry and the benefit of this is no noise from above. However, there are stairs and for an older person, not use to climbing stairs, this can be less desirable vs. noise control from above. My family and I spent 12 days in this lovely home. The location was great! Close to shopping and many many restaurants. As for the closeness to the beach.. Not so close. We were told the beach was within 250 yards. Well, not from the complex we were in. We drove most days only because it was quite a hike with two small children and all of our beach gear. It definitely was not a 5 minute walk!

We also went through tbd rentals, not the owners directly. We dealt with Jake and he was not very responsive to our emails or phone calls. Always seemed to be away from the office. Our biggest complaint was that we were not notified of the construction going on in the parking lot where we were supposed to park! The entire time, the parking lot was closed which meant we had to park on the street and tromp through uneven asphalt to get to our Villa. It made it very difficult for my Mom, 86 years old, and my two grandchildren ages 4 years and 15 months. Not to mention that the tractors and concrete smashers started at 8am..so much for listening to the beautiful birds singing in the morning. This work went on until 5pm each day! It just would have been nice to be fore warned, as we would have definitely chosen another place to stay.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review Doodah. As the owner, I am not sure who TB rentals are, nor do we know Jake. Sometimes outside vacation rental agencies do not have the most up to date information or may not be familiar with the property and location at all. Our VRBO site clearly states the time it takes to walk to the beach on the greenbelt, which is about 5 min. I guess Jake was guessing with his 250 yards answer. We also had provided notice to our rental mgmt. company, regarding the parking lot paving, of which the dates for this work were constantly changing. Booking directly with an owner through the VRBO site is the best way to get up to date info and updates. The owners also are motivated to quickly reply to your needs during your stay. We want you to have a wonderful time. We can not always control every aspect of things going on around the complex, like the paving project. But, we can share that information with you in advance, so you are aware of these things. I am sorry that your vacation stay was not ideal. But, we certainly hope that you might consider booking again in the future, for a discounted stay and also consider booking directly with us, the owners, so that we can be more available to help you with your needs. I am sorry that Jake and TB rentals were not able to be of greater assistance to you, as your chosen method, to book your accommodations. I hope you provided them with your feedback also, as they get paid to book and support your vacation stay. Mahalo for your feedback!

Fantastic Condo for Our Extended Family with Various Ages!

For the past few years, my extended family (my husband and three young kids, my sister, her husband and 2-year old and my parents (aka Grandma & Grandpa)) have been talking about taking a trip to Hawaii. It was no small feat to find a place that suited everyone, ages 16 months to 68 years old. Kauai-Five-O more than exceeded our expectations! The location is ideal - we were able to walk to Poipu Beach daily, a perfect beach for younger and older kids alike. The condo was also located on the "Green Belt" which allowed us to walk to the Hyatt for breakfast, as well as various dinner and shopping locations along the main road. In regards to the condo itself...it was perfect! Everyone had their own rooms - including the kids. We were able to put our young kids to bed, and stay up late to play games and chat. The condo also had several pools and hot tubs, as well as BBQ's for us to use throughout our stay. And the closet had a wonderful array of beach towels, boogie boards, coolers, sand toys etc. for our use at the pool and the beach. The owner was fantastic to work with, and we are already looking forward to booking our next stay at Kauai-Five-O. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS CONDO!

My husband and I took our family as well as my in-laws to Kauai for vacation and needed a nice size condo. We found "Kauai Five-O" and thought it would be perfect. We were so RIGHT! We booked the condo through VRBO and were very pleased with the response from the owner, Jon. He answered all of our questions and provided us with a lot of information about the surrounding area. My family loves to play a lot outdoor sports and my husband and I rarely miss a day at the gym. Jon informed us about the tennis courts and the fitness center that are located less than a 1/2 mile away from the condo. We only paid $10 per day to use the amenities and it was worth every penny! Of course our favorite place was Red Salt. It is a restaurant that is located a short drive from the condo. If you go, you need to try their Mango Margarita! Thank you, Jon, for making our trip to Kauai, a trip to remember!

Unexpected difficulty with property management company

We were so excited to be going to Kauai 5-0 for a two week stay with our best friends. We had a total of 9 in our group - 5 teenagers/college students and 4 adults. There was plenty of space and the house was as described which was lovely/well appointed inside. We arrived and found that pool #1 was closed for 12 of the 14 days we were there due to construction which also included being locked out of the space that had the nearest BBQ. We used the other pool/BBQ on property which was needed as it was unseasonably hot when we were there and did not want to cook inside if we could avoid it. The 5th bedroom is a loft with no outside window so there is little air movement and it stays very hot. We had a wonderful time walking to the beach and enjoying the Island. There is Tennis but what is not said is that its is expensive to play. There is not a work-out facility attached to this rental - we called the management company to ask as it is on the website. During our first week a contractor showed up at the door when I was alone with our two girls. This was unexpected and frankly a little scary since I did not know who was coming in through the door. Again, no prior notice. It became awful when we called for a late check out. You can and its $333 for a 3:00 p.m. check out or free if you want to check out at noon. With the cost of this condo for two weeks we decided to opt for the noon. We believed this to be confirmed but they called the next day to say they had scheduled the cleaning service to come in at 10 a.m. and we had to check out at this time. We had believed this to be confirmed. This is when it became ridiculous. They refused to reschedule the cleaning staff despite already telling us a noon check out was available. Both families spoke to the local management company and could not come to a reasonable solution. During this time my daughter had stepped on coral and gotten an infection in her foot. I took her to a local Dr. for antibiotics. The local management company learned from the mainland company that my daughter had an infection and they called 3 different times demanding to know what type of infection - this is illegal and frankly ridiculous. The owner interceded with the company and let us check out at 3 for free however, the local management company still sent cleaning staff at 10. We lost 4 days dealing with issues associated with this rental company. The owner was great and not well represented by the local rental company.

Owner's Response: All reviews are helpful to an owner, even if the guest did not use the VRBO service to book their reservation. With this guest not booking via the VRBO channel, the owner was not aware of any issues that they were having, until the very end of their stay. Booking the property through a travel agent on the mainland, they lost a valuable channel with the owner to help the situation earlier. There was a clear issue between the guest and our local rental mgmt. company, around securing a late check out, that had not been arranged for in advance and carries an additional cost for the extended stay. Booking directly with the owner via VRBO always helps the guest have a good line of support, in addition to the local rental mgmt. companies support. Stressful situations, like coral abrasions from the ocean can also add to a less than ideal time for relaxation. As an owner, once I was informed of the situation, I did everything I could to help this guest for the duration of their stay. If they had actually booked this on the VRBO web site, I could have helped earlier on in their stay. We pride ourselves with a lovely property, in the great location, with lot's of amenities. Their is a full workout facility less than a mile away and weekly memberships can be secured to utilize their gym, tennis and pools as well. Not all guests want to access this option, but it is available. The 8 tennis courts are also available for a $5.00 court fee, for usage. We also installed new carpeting in the property this summer and added louvered shutters for the loft bedroom, for improved cooling air flow in the bedroom. The majority of our reviews have been very positive and guests have a lovely time in the property. As an owner, I encourage reviews on the VRBO site, especially when the reservation was booked on the VRBO site. Having a travel agent on the mainland, does not always provide the support you need, during your stay. Both our rental mgmt. company and we as owners, do everything we can to help our guests have a positive experience and work through any issues that might come up during a guest stay. With Aloha!

Large, comfortable, updated space in great location!

We stayed here for a week with five adults and five children in March 2015. There was plenty of space for everyone with all of the amenities families with young kids need (fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, pool/beach toys, vacuum). Though we didn't use the pool (water was too cold), it was just steps away from the apartment. And the beautiful (and extremely kid-friendly) beach was about a 10 minute walk away (along a beautiful path, not along the street). We were also five minutes away from the grocery store and restaurants. The only complaint was that the loft bedroom was pretty warm (because the apartment does not have A/C and that room does not have a window), but the other rooms were always comfortable (outside temps were in the 70s). We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it for big groups and families!

Best and safest Beach on the south shore of Kauai!You can walk to everything, including many fine restaurants. 2 pools available in the community and 10 tennis courts. Everything is right out the door with a short walk. Great location and great property!
