About Sally Shea
Aanii, my name is Sally. I was born on the Iron Range and grew up in a small town north of Minneapolis where I owned and operated a beauty salon for 15 years. Our family moved to Duluth in 1999 and I returned to school in 2002 to get my healthcare degree. I turned our home into a vacation rental a few years ago because I love the privacy and remote setting this home offers.
Sally Shea purchased this House in 1999
Why Sally Shea chose Lakewood
I loved this home because its close to nature and provides many comfortable areas to relax indoor and outdoor. The property is on 10 acres and provides a quiet, comfortable experience for our guests. New hardwood floors make it great for Quilting and Crafting groups as we have rolling office chairs and folding tables to accommodate up to 10 group size. Separate living room with big screen TV, DVD player, Satellite TV and large comfortable leather couch with love seat and lounging chairs. The house has three levels so there is always a quiet space to relax, even with large groups.
What makes this House unique
Sauna room with shower - This was completed in early 2016 and has been a great addition to what we can provide for our guests. The three decks provide enough space for large group retreats during the day and also a great place to enjoy a peaceful morning cup of coffee. Camp Fire Area - Seating for 6 - 8 around a cozy camp fire. S'mores anyone? Canal Park - Restaurants, gift and coffee shops, the board walk on Lake Superior. And be sure to experience the worlds only working Aerial Lift Bridge. Many Beaches and parks are further down after you cross over the bridge. North Shore Scenic Route - Get a beautiful view of Lake Superior on the scenic route toward Two Harbors. In the summer months, there are many scenic areas close to the property including Hawks Ridge for an awesome view of Lake Superior, and Seven Bridges Road where you can see many waterfalls and very interesting bridges (which runs to Lester Park and a unique swimming hole called, "the deeps," by the locals.) Great place to see the fall colors and enjoy the summer months. In the winter months, The John Beargrease dogsled race runs within a few miles of the property. Snowmobile groups will enjoy the proximity of the C. J. Ramstad Minnesota trail which is 2 miles away. For the Cross Country folks Korkki groomed ski trails are a short distance from the house. After a day in the woods come and warm your bones in the Sauna,a great way to relax and end the day.

Property was well maintained.
We were very impressed with the property. It was very well maintained. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Thank you so much. I really enjoyed meeting your family. I'm so glad you were all happy with Aanii House.
Can't go wrong with this property
The house was inviting and clean. The property manager was especially accommodating. Our stay was perfect!
Thanks Cyndee, very kind. I'm very happy Aanii House was a good fit for you and all the girls.
Aanii House and a Family Christmas over New Year's week-end
Sally was very accommodating and helpful from beginning to end. It was a wonderful place and had everything we needed for this family of 15. We never felt we were on top of each other due to the layout of the house. Beds were comfortable. Seating was perfect. Kitchen was well-stocked with pans, cups, dishes, silverware, etc.... Only drawback was the distance from Spirt Mountain but wouldn't stop us from staying here again. It is in a beautiful setting. Thanks much for a our celebration away from home....
Perfect 30th birthday getaway :)
Beautiful house, very clean, comfy beds, more than enough space for our group of 12, great house layout. Overall our trip was amazing and Sally the owner was great and very helpful will anything we needed!
Marie thank you so much for the kind words. I hope you come back again.
Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones
We were a group of 4 guys staying for 2 weeks in Duluth for flight training at CIrrus Aircraft. House has 4 bedrooms, full kitchen, and several areas for studying that worked great for us. 3.5 bathrooms in the house and an additional full bathroom with shower in the sauna room which was 20’ outside the door. So, The Owner, Sally, was quick to reply to us to answer all our questions and used text messaging to check in on us when it started snowing to make sure we were ok. Being from Florida, snow on the roads and deer shooting by us was a new experience, but Sally gave us instructions on how to drive and we had no problems. She sent a snow plow by on several days to make sure our driveway was clear. We studied by the fireplace, dining room table, and family room couches. Plenty of room to spread out. Sauna was great for relaxing after a long day training. The master bedroom has a bathtub, but no shower. (By only improvement suggestion to Sally is to add a shower to the Master bathtub.). Kitchen was beautiful and fully equipment with every kitchen tool. Great outside grill that we used several times. Large fridge/freezer and washer/dryer made our 2 week stay easy. Far better than a hotel and less cost. Provided a great venue for group study at night. Only 20 minutes from Cirrus Aircraft. Easy drive. Beautiful property and views in the back with a fire pit. Because of the snowing we were unable to use the fire pit. I highly recommend this house. Sally is a wonderful host.
Guy and Guests,.
It was such a pleasure having you stay at Aanii House. Considering the electric outage and real Minnesota experience you all got to enjoy with snow etc. you were perfect guests. The house was well loved and cared for. I really hope you will stay again and will definitely take care of the shower situation in the master bath.
Beautiful place with lots to do & see in the area!
The house worked great for sisters weekend. Wished the sauna would have been working and wished we had access to the laundry room. Other than that it is in a nice location with lots to do in the area. Thanks Sally for sharing your home with us.
There are many attractions in Duluth, as exciting as Grandma's Marathon and the Bayfront Blues Festival to bird watching at Hawks and the season change with the wonderful autumn colors. What ever you are coming for, to relax or get involved It's a wonderful place. The history is also intriguing, Seven bridges road and the Glensheen Historic Estate or just going to one of the many beaches and soaking up the sun.
