Nice place to stay

  • 3 of 5

The room was nice but it was a bit further away from the Napa Valley area than we anticipated. The price was great for the accommodations. The bed was a bit uncomfortable but we were still able to get a good night's sleep. We had no issues finding the room and everything was in working order just as expected. Still waiting for a return on the deposit but overall a good experience.

Cute guest house close to the square

  • 4 of 5

Guest house was very cute and clean. We had what amenities we needed and the location was very close to the square. Only downside we saw was not having enough hot water for both husband and wife to shower (before going out to dinner, for example), as there was only about 3-4 minutes of hot water available. Overall, we were happy and enjoyed our stay in sonoma.

Wonderful!!

  • 5 of 5

I honestly cannot say enough good things about both the cute little cottage and the hospitality Heather showed us. We, somehow, in the course of touring wineries lost the cottage key. Heather immediately answered our frantic texts and got us a replacement key. She was an absolute pleasure to work with. The cottage was clean, cozy, and everything we needed it to be. When we come back to this area to visit, hopefully this cottage will be available again--

Thank you Heather !!!

Cute cottage; Not so cute and questionable neighborhood!

  • 2 of 5

The cottage was very cute, but the location definitely no what we expected. The house is behind to other rental properties in a busy residential area. The front row of properties appeared to be full time rentals with a low priority of upkeep. When we first arrived the second rental house just before our property had dogs barking. Heather, the property manager assisted us to try to get the dogs quieted by that renter. The house behind us was owned and the fenced up against our property. They let the dogs into the fenced yard every evening into the night and the barking was never ending. U also had to walk through or around the second rentals parking area and it could be quite dark. Looked like owners began putting in post lights around the property years ago but lost steam and vacated the thought midstream! The cottage...again very charming... Couple of things...light bulbs need to be checked and bad ones replaced, one spare left behind was burned out, refrigerator though precious is loud sounding like an airplane taking off. Metal sign hanging on front door...if windy you will hear something sounding like a basketball bouncing on concrete and it will definitely wake u so before u go searching inside and out like us just remove the sign. Hot water in kitchen is scalding so be careful, same w bathroom sink. Shower totally different. Scald guard needs to be adjusted in shower for hot water. Step going into bedroom is definitely a problem just like many survey have mentioned before. Though we know caution tape was applied the brain doesn't make a quick adjustment for something so quirky. Lay a towel or something in front of it until the adjustment. My husband felt like he broke a toe walking into the bedroom in the dark half asleep, and I fell out of the room half asleep. I would also encourage housekeeping to double check sheets top and bottom as there were hairs on our sheets and both pillow cases!!!! Dining room table is broken on back side so don't plan on using it if u need to open it up larger. As a reminder to next visitors...there is no oven so don't plan a romantic dinner w no way to cook it but a microwave. No wood lwft behind, kindling or paper for fire pit. We travel regularly and that is always provided. Heather was very sweet! Pls add a few extra towels and a blanket.

Owner's Response: Hi Michelle, Thank you for staying with us and for taking time to write a review. I'm sorry you didn't feel the cottage lived up to your expectations as we take great pride in our properties and providing special experiences for our guests. I'd like to take a minute to address some of your comments and concerns. Regarding the neighborhood...my husband and I, and his family, live in this neighborhood...his family has been here for over 25 years. Many of the homes in this area are being renovated as new families move in. As you can imagine, property on the east side of Sonoma, which is probably what you were expecting, are extraordinarily expensive, and vacation rentals are priced accordingly. Although our neighborhood is not as ritzy as the east side, it is very safe and it is undergoing quite a rejuvenation. As you mentioned I was quick to assist with the noise from the other renter's dogs, but I am unable to control the neighbors noise. Staying in a neighborhood rather than a hotel does have it's perks and drawbacks of course. I do appreciate the feedback on the outdoor lighting. I will definitely have the owners install more to brighten the path back at night. Also, we have already replaced the refrigerator! I will double check the temperature on the hot water heater and try to attach the sign better to the front door-it does help to eliminate confusion with identifying the rental properties. Unfortunately the little step into the bedroom would be very challenging to fix but we will work on a solution! I'm sorry if there were hairs in the bed-we pride ourselves on cleanliness and our usually extremely thorough with cleaning the cottage. Regarding your comment that there is only a microwave to cook with-although there is no oven there is a 4 burner cooktop, a full set of pots and pans and a grill that guests are welcome to use. For a brief stay it is usually more than adequate. Finally, in the future if you need anything, such as extra towels, a blanket or firewood please do contact the property manager. As you know I was quick to respond to your needs and would have been happy to provide anything extra or let you know where you could find it in the cottage (the blanket is under the chaise section of the couch-I have updated my arrival info to reflect that). Thank you again for staying at the cottage and for your feedback. We are always eager to improve to offer the best possible experience for our guest. Heather

Nice charming cottage

  • 4 of 5

The Bluebird cottage is a clean comfortable place to stay in Sonoma. It also has a small

backyard with table and chairs, bbq grill and vegetable garden.

The Sonoma market ( food retailer ) is a short 7-8 minute drive and comes highly

recommended for quality foodstuffs, meat, deli and prepared foods. I suppose you could

walk to the market but then you would have to carry the bags back to the cottage.

Avoid the Safeway across the street, dirty, filthy store with empty shelves and uninterested

employee's. Back to the Bluebird........

Cottage has been updated, remodeled kitchen, remodeled bath with corner shower, good

water pressure, towels, soaps etc...

What would make this a five star place to stay you ask ??

There is a 1950's Kelvinator refrigerator in the kitchen that is loud, has no functional freezer

because it hasn't been defrosted since the early 2000's. Must be a energy waster also. Would

be much more useful as a boat anchor ! There is also a two inch step up into the bedroom that

I had read about in other reviews, yet I managed to stub my toes twice, my wife, more than that.

A gradual ramp would eliminate that hazard.
