Why Mike Morris chose Tahoma

We fell in love with the beauty, charm, and artistic elements of this home. The gorgeous setting sealed the deal! It is secluded and quiet and yet close to beautiful hiking spots and local hangouts. Come visit and you'll fall in love with Tahoe all over again.

The house is comfortable and has many special artistic touches: paintings, quilts, craftsman-quality woodwork, tile mosaics, and beautiful fabrics and colors.

The elevation adds to the privacy of the house, creating a feeling of being up in the clouds.

What makes this house unique

Spacious bedrooms and solid alder doors create private oases for guests. Public spaces like the living room and decks are well-planned out to accommodate easy visiting and viewing the lake. The kitchen amenities include beautiful dishes to enhance your enjoyment of shared meals. Quiet sitting areas abound so that, even with a large group, guests can find some time for solitary activities like reading or napping that recharge one's batteries.

The house is very well-maintained, with a conscientious maintenance crew that keeps everything in tip-top shape, for an easy, relaxing experience.

Time stops here and you can just watch the lake colors deepen as the day slowly blooms. Summers bring stunning sunsets that can be enjoyed from inside or out. Sierra storms - snow or thunder - are impressive to observe while safely tucked away in this cozy, well-insulated, well-appointed abode. Truly a lovely refuge from the modern world.

Incredible house!

  • 5 of 5

Incredible house, every detail is just right. The views are stunning, and our group had an amazing time. No surprises here, the place is fully stocked with everything you need. Many Tahoe rentals can be quite rustic, and lacking in comfort and amenities, but there are no trade-offs here. This place has rustic, woodsy charm, but it's a solid, comfortable, well-built home with absolutely no issues. Watching the sunset with that lake view from the deck (and even the living room and bar!) is divine! Hosts were great with communication and details. Can't recommend highly enough!

My wife and I stayed at the Lakeview Haven during the week leading up to Ironman Lake Tahoe. It was the perfect place to rest and acclimate as I prepared for the race. Upon arrival, we were immediately struck by how quiet and secluded the location of the house, even though it is right off the main highway. This huge four-bedroom home is nestled far enough into the pines that we never heard any traffic, even while sitting on the front deck - and we spent considerable time on the front deck enjoying the stunning view of Lake Tahoe and the mountains beyond. And we soon learned this is not the only amazing vista. Just a few short steps above the large back deck is a ridge overlooking the Rubicon Bay with sailboats bobbing along the shoreline.

The house boasts solid and distinctive wood craftsmanship with unique themes for each room. The paintings throughout are gorgeous original pieces of the Lake Tahoe area. The kitchen and living area are open and well appointed with comfortable and functional furniture. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware, barware, dishes, condiments and spices - everything we needed. We never ate out, choosing to cook our meals in the kitchen and enjoy them along with the amazing view in the dining room, and on warmer evenings, the deck.

The house is clean and well maintained. The wifi is strong and the tv satellite reception is solid. There is a full library of movies, books and games. We had a great time at the Lakeview Haven and are already planning our return trip to spend time hiking and enjoying all the parks and trails nearby that we missed on our first trip.

The pictures don't do justice--this place is phenomenal for any age!

  • 5 of 5

We went up to Tahoe for a quick getaway with some great friends (3 adults, 3 boys ages 14 - 10) expecting to have a nice time in a nice place and, the kids were expecting--in my son's own words "a mediocre place" -- yet, we were all so pleasantly surprised at how much we all LOVED the haven from the moment we walked in! Inviting from the downstairs entry, to the main floor on the third level! The first level--a small area great for dropping things off--taking off ski gear in the winter or dropping off all the beach items in the summer. The second level--absolutely gorgeous and roomy bedrooms and each having some really neat thing about them (two had access to a balcony with sitting area and the other a really unique room with bedding in an alcove), the laundry room (had a great table top for folding clothes and highenergy frontload washer & dryer), and good size bathroom with separate shower and jetted tub. The main floor--large great room (comfy sofas), separate reading area, dining area, and awesome kitchen--has windows all around with breathtaking views of the trees and lake (did I mention the house is at the top of a mountain area and you cannot hear any of the traffic from the highway?). There is a fabulous balcony off the great room with a spectacular view of the lake--it is relaxing and makes for a great place for sitting in the afternoon/evening and reading, conversing, or enjoying the views. The door off the kitchen leads to another deck--more seating area and nice for having a cup of coffee in the morning--with private trails up the mountain. The kids loved it and said "why go hiking anywhere else, when you can do it right here?"

We took food and didn't have to use the car once we arrived--it was a 10 minute walk to Meeks Bay/beach where we spent some time each day and enjoyed cooking, eating, visiting, playing board games, and watching some videos--all available at the Haven. The place was super clean and so nicely decorated and had so many details! The beds were comfortable and we got all the rest and relaxation we were looking for.

I know this is a LONG review, but, we loved it! We are planning our next trip out--it will definitely be longer than a weekend!

Family reunion and summer fun at Meek's Bay

  • 5 of 5

My family, consisting of several adults and three young children, made good use of all the bedrooms in this amazing home. The location is close to the beach (at Meeks Resort) yet up above the traffic- where the lake, forest and mountain views are superb. The feeling of privacy is priceless for a summer retreat at busy Lake Tahoe. Nearby hikes revealed gorgeous wild flowers- even in July! The home itself is a gem of master carpentry, stonework and creativity. Art adorns the walls, great books line the shelves and the kitchen is great for cooking for a family. The house feels comfortable and welcoming throughout. My entire family loved this home and we are already planning on next year's stay at the Haven.

I used this property as an artist's retreat. It is spacious, for sleeping, eating, cooking, (painting) and lounging….and right outside the backdoor is a hill to climb and hike in beautiful preserved land with wonderful views of Tahoe. I'll be back for sure. We hiked down to Meeks Bay and took quick drives to Emerald Bay- which is an often photographed and painted- picturesque spot with bears fishing for Salmon nearby in the streams. There were only 2 of us in the house, but next time, I'm planning a weekend with myself and 8 friends:)

Located on Tahoe's Best Shore, the West Shore, Meeks Bay is a refuge from the commercialism of the rest of the world. The quiet beauty of this region is restorative. Beautiful hiking trails abound with stunning views of different lake inlets, like Meeks Bay, Rubicon Bay, Emerald Bay, etc. The smell of the pine trees refreshes. Climb the rock staircase to a bluff with a swing with a view. Or follow the road to another rock staircase down to Meeks Bay. Or just sit on the front deck and enjoy a good book and the ability to look up and take in the view throughout the afternoon.
